Pakistan’s four F-16s detected close to Punjab border, IAF’s Sukhoi, Mirage pushed them back: Reports

The Indian Air Force's Sukhoi-30MKIs and Mirage jets pushed backed a large-sized UAV and a package of four Pakistani F-16 jets flying close to the Indian border in Khemkaran sector in Punjab at 3 am on Monday. After the Indian response, the Pakistani jets retreated further into their territory, according to news agency ANI.

This incident came days after the Indian Army on March 8 shot down an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), also known as drone, in Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar sector around 7.30 pm. This was the fourth time Pakistani drone destroyed by India along the IB since February 26 air strike on Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror camp in Balakot inside Pakistani territory.

Few days earlier, a Pakistani drone was detected by a ground-based radar station in Rajasthan's Bikaner and minutes later one of the Sukhoi-30 jets deployed in the area to keep an eye on Indian air space shot it down. The Pakistani military drone was targeted at around 11:30 am in Bikaner-Nal sector in Rajasthan.

It was the second unsuccessful attempt by Pakistan to send a spy drone inside India in the last six days. On February 27, a day after the air strike, a Pakistani drone was shot down by India along the Indo-Pak border in Kutch district of Gujarat. The Indian Air Force has kept all its bases in the Western sector on maximum alert after the Balakot strike.

The Indian Air Force carried out pre-dawn airstrikes on February 26 and destroyed major launch pads of the terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed, which was behind the February 14 Pulwama terror attack. Several reports claimed that the ‘Surgical Strike 2.0’ decimated Jaish's Alpha 3 Control Rooms located in Balakot, Muzaffarabad and Chakothi in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.

More than 10 bombs were dropped by the multi-role fighter jet Mirage 2000 at around 3:30 am on February 26 morning. Understandably, Pakistan has downplayed the airstrike. The aerial attack came a day after Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman held a high-level meeting with all three service chiefs.

Following the strike, the Pakistani Air Force also entered the Indian air space and dropped bombs on military establishment in Kashmir. However, IAF planes scrambled the Pakistani jets and destroyed one of them. In the intense aerial battle, an Indian jet was also downed by Pakistani fighter planes.

Meanwhile, on Monday, the Pakistan Army rejected that Indian claims that a Pakistani F-16 was shot down in an air battle on February 27.

“Reference repeated Indian claims about shooting down of Pakistani F-16 by India and use of F16 in air battle on 27 February. The event of 27 Feb is part of history now. No Pakistani F16 was hit by Indian airforce,” said the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

ISPR added that Pakistan Air Force (PAF) strikes across the Line of Control (LoC) were carried out by JF-17 from within Pakistan airspace.

“Later when 2 Indian jets crossed LOC they were shot down by PAF. Whether it was F16 or JF17 which shot down 2 Indian aircrafts is immaterial,” added the statement.

“Even if F-16 have been used as at that point in time complete PAF was airborne including F16s, the fact remains that Pakistan Airforce shot down two Indian jets in self-defence. India can assume any type of their choice even F-16."

Yeah pushed them back while keeping a safe distance of 80Km from the border. That's vegan way of doing military stuff.

UAV was prey, which was moved forward while F-16 was waiting for the hunt :)
So, no one dare touching the bait? How then they pushed them back?

Keep you eyes and ears open and have fun ....
Things are getting very interesting...

Not as of now, if this escalates or if this continues for long, those days one be far that ballons with F-16 written with a pilot flying in air will be reality.
Oh yeah. What IAf is waiting for then? BTW, if this continues for another couple of weeks, IAF will hardly have a plane worth flying just due to wear and tear? Good luck.

What is large size UAV?

.
Imran Khan you guys keep ranting here why Pakistan keeps buying F16
Even a 40 old bird is menace for Indian air force even with numeric and tech advantage they hold

True, true, but what if we have block 70/72 from the Yanks, India would be demanding 6th Generation Aircraft from the USA to compete with it.
I think India desperate wants USA to put some restrictions on Pakistan for the use of F 16. That's why they keep mentioning it, and not mentioning JF 17 which do more CAPs than F 16.
JF 17 is their Achilles' heel, "one whose name cannot be mentioned".

. .
Smells like fake news and fear-mongering so the Indian public would re-elect Modi. PAF has no reason to fly near the border at present.

. .
to be cleared from UAV they mean quadcopter..
sometime i think it could simply be a kid flying them rather than pak army

other day they shot down a balloon that kid let go during his birthday part..they tried there best using guns but than used AAM..noone knows how they locked on it though..sucha skill level

.
NAH with PDF experience one can build any conspiracy theory in seconds :D
See like you did in the post :p

That wasn't a conspiracy theory, that was sarcasm which going by your response bounced way over your head.

. . .
The Indian nation and their collective effort not to say JF-17 should really be appreciated. It’s like they have a phobia of the Thunder and why not? Their LCA is still riding around Delhi on a truckbed lol

. .
While started reading the article i was already laughing and looking for the part where they start referencing the supposed "F16 shot down" again. :omghaha:
Boy they are annoyingly predictable. Since 2016 Drama of Sar Ji Kal Strike. Every day a new article talking about some ABC and then inserting INDIAN SURGICAL STRIKE. Same is happening now again. Thank god we captured Abhi Nandan or they would have completely denied any shot down of Indian Plane or Pakistani Strikes

.
They should be careful what if a quadcopter takes out a SU-30?
They will call it a bird strike or technical failure

PS What is really the take away from all these Indian articles is that a force of mere 70 some F-16s has been able to keep the 300+ Su-30s, Mig-29s and Mirage 2000s at bay.

Lockheed Martin and PAF could not ask for better publicity lol
