When Karachites ask for this, they are labelled as traitors. Karachi should be a federal area, and second capital of Pakistan. Maybe then, it will get the attention it deserves.

I don't really understand people blamming the government. Maybe part of the problem is government's fault,but don't you think it's also people's fault if the streets turn into large open garbage ? Why don't they question themselves ?
I don't live in Pakistan,even less in Karachi,maybe I don't know the reality there,so if someone can shed me some light.

Well Karachi is my home city so you are partially right about people's attitude regarding rubbish but you have no idea about the local provincial government, the ruling party of the province Sindh does not get majority votes from Karachi, they only win because of rural areas so as a punishment they deliberately let Karachi rot. I don't know how much you are aware of Pakistani politics but its almost comical and sad at the same time.

Why not blame federal? Isn't Karachi a part of Pakistan? Karachi should never have even been moved as capital. Shitty politics of Karachi is an indirect reaction to that. What's wrong with federal government taking ownership of Karachi and declaring it a federal area? Feudalism is in the roots of Balochistan and Sindh. Sadly you will never be free of that. I do agree that Karachi was and should have remained the capital. But even then it would still be a dump, you can't polish a turd. I have lived in Karachi for a while. Average Karachites have no civic pride, compare that to an educated resident of Islamabad.

Racist Sindhi Feudal aren't responsible for everything. Who'll you blame for MQM? which has killed more Urdu speakers than anyone, it has destroyed generations of Karachites. How can you blame anyone when the people haven't the logic to dispose trash properly, all i see is aunties throwing crap out of their windows. I would rather blame trash becoming a part of our culture, an open gutter doesn't bother people in Karachi. It's like a normal thing.
Someone who has lived most of his life in Islamabad i am disappointed in Karachites.
Even in Defence areas where you have Dustbins to dispose off the garbage people don't seem to use it. Who is to blame?
Can blame govts to some extent. Now in GB, more specifically Yasin my village we haven't got any fancy machines to collect trash and everything but i guarantee you will hardly find any trash on the side of the road. We need to start treating Pakistan as our property, we try to keep our homes clean but forget about what happens outside.

Ban MQM but not PPP? MQM did more work for Karachi than any other party in the history of Pakistan, with JI close 2nd. For all the faults of MQM, at least they did something for us Karachites. My family lives in Karachi we saw how under MQM's tenure was with Musharraf. I'd rather have MQM in Karachi than any other party. At least they own Karachi, not like the rest, who come here to loot and talk of "conquering" Karachi.

but the actual problem for karachits is the political fight & benefits between MQM and PPP, if there would be only one holding party so the blame goes to only one party. but after 18 amendment i know PPP will never ever transfer any fund to local bodies because of MQM, so there is already no political holding by MQM in karachi although MQM has mandate of karachi but who cares?. because of their fights only people of karachi will keep on sacrificing from their necessities. in my Opinion MQM should boycott the next election rather then getting the benefits by sindh Govt.

This is because the people are divided in to ethnic camps, and this is direct result of moving the capital from Karachi and then the urban/rural quota system been enforced on the people of Karachi. The civil and police administration parachutes people from Punjab and KPK and rural Sindh in to prominent positions. MQM tried to rebalance that and they were labelled as racists.

The PPP rules Sindh, look at the state of Lyari, their own stronghold. If that's how they treat their own voters, then imagine the rest of Karachi. I will say this again, a thousand faults with MQM and Musharraf, but at least they did something for Karachi. And this was only because the federal government under Musharraf took a keen interest in developing Karachi.

The best solution is to declare Karachi a federal area and 2nd capital of Pakistan. We won't have to worry about stupid feudals and the parasitical Bhutto clan.
