after all, Germans are the fathers of sub's technology. It is the only option currently which can save Pakistan from complete claw of indian navy

i hope you mean to say that it is ON again after the rumors regarding the possible procurement of french submarine instead of the german boats!
if this is so, i mean if PN is back on track with german subs then it will be worth waiting for a month,, and perhaps the best news we could have regarding PN..

‘No deal for French subs under way’

Pakistan Indian N-sub detrimental to regional peace: FO

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Defense Production said on Saturday it was not purchasing French submarines in place of those manufactured by Germany.

Briefing Senate’s Standing Committee on Defence and Defence Production, Defence Production Secretary Israr Ghumman said an evaluation committee formed by the Naval Headquarters had recommended purchase of German submarines.

He told the meeting, presided over by Chairman Lt-Gen (retd) Javed Ashraf Qazi, that the government had not signed any agreement with French authorities as reported in the media.

Senator Raja Zafarul Haq told Dawn the committee had been informed that several submarine-making companies came up with bids but on the basis of the cost and technology German submarines had been preferred by the Pakistan Navy.

He said the secretary denied the government was negotiating any deal to purchase French submarines.

He said the committee was following the purchase of submarines and if anybody was found involved in receiving kickbacks he would be exposed to the media.

The committee sought continuity of safeguards for the Pakistan Ordnance Factories, Heavy Mechanical Industries and Pakistan Aeronautical Complex which were set up through an ordinance and validated through 17th Constitutional Amendment.

The committee observed that funding system of vital defence organisations needed to be reviewed to make them financially strong and administratively more effective.

Minister for Defence Production Abdul Qayyum Khan Jatoi, Jan Mohammad Jamali, Maulana Mohammad Khan Sherani, Tahir Mashhadi and Hajid Adeel attended the meeting.

I dont think we have to worry so much about the result of german elections. Remember when we thought that if Bush is re elected back in 2005 we are going to have the F-16 deal done and then again in 2008 we wished for republicans to win again because Democrats are anti-pakistan? and wont be in favor of the deal with pak.. but hey we all turned wrong... IMO it doesnt matter which party wins... what matter is if German military and HDW are willing to sell those subs then so be it. remember 95% of the deal is done... PN knows that elections is not such a issue other wise they would defiantly had another realistic option in their mind...
Now i am pretty dam sure that Zardari wont commit such a crime so openly.. he knows military, politicians and awam are watching him..

Araz has asked that we wait at least a month to hear something more substantive on the U214 deal - now that it is confirmed that French submarine not in the running it seems that the U214 deal will go forward - I hope the terms of the deal with regard to technology transfer and Pakistani production content will no be disappointing.

The local companies that worked ont he Augusta90 project now have experience and their facilities and capacity should be used in the U214 project as well so that greater expertise is institutionalized.
