What's new

Pakistani students can now get Canadian study permits processed in 20 days!

You know what's the biggest anomaly in the Canadian immigration process..... if person A is living in Canada on a work permit he can invite his wife over from Pakistan also on a work permit through a simple process and processing time is 2-3 months.

However, if person B is a Canadian or Permanent Resident and his wife is living in Pakistan, the only way he can bring her over is through family sponsorship which is a long, difficult process and for Pakistanis it takes 12-14 months for processing. Only advantage is wife gets a PR and not a work permit with expiry date.

Man I don't know much about immigration laws, but lemme guess. Even if they are not allowed directly, AFAIK, they could apply what is called an Open Work Permit which will allow them to work anywhere. There may be few complications at most, depending upon what they are working into.

Okay seems like You can!!!!

" * are the spouse or common-law partner of a skilled worker or international student"

PS : Last I remember a friend's case, there are very few and very minor limitations. But I am sure your spouse won't be doing those things.
I am settled in UK and have no plan of moving to Canada but my one cousin in Pakistan is interested for postgraduate study either in Austrlia or Canada. She is married so will probably travel with her husband. UK immigration law allow dependent of international student to do all sort of work except in medicine. It seem laws are different in Canada and as you said

Who can get a work permit as the spouse or common-law partner of a student?
Your spouse or common-law partner may be eligible for an open work permit if you:

  • have a valid study permit and
  • are a full-time student at one of these types of schools:
    • a public post-secondary school, such as a college or university, or CEGEP in Quebec
    • a private college-level school in Quebec
    • a Canadian private school that can legally award degrees under provincial law (for example, Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate degree)
How long is the open work permit valid for?
Your spouse or common-law partner’s work permit will be valid for the same period of time as your study permit.

How easy for international student to bring their spouse ? Can apply same time ?

I think it is simple : When you are inviting someone forever, it needs a bit more 'looking into' things and a bit more processing. Plus you are sharing the processing resources with a number of other PR candidates.

Not clear on this but I think an international student might have trouble calling spouse over since you have to show sufficient income and/or bank balance

I searched and I think there are two ways

1) You can apply open work permit for spouse and dependent child same time as you apply for your study permit but there is risk of refusal here when apply jointly

2) You can apply for you study permit and once granted then you can bring your spouse in Canada ..Here you have more chance of getting visa because of small risk of overstaying i.e because of leaving your partner behind

If you have say some property back home and some other relatives back home, you might do it once with yourself. That said most universities tell you to first come by yourself, understand what the life will be in your host country and if you should really bring your family while you study.

There are alot of odd jobs up north where you can cover your fees. I am seeing alot of Indian Sikh driving around in brand new BMWs up North. They are working full time at mcdonalds, wendys etc etc
Canada will soon be new Amritsar. It rains indians here, they keep dropping from the sky. I am sick of them, wherever they go they destroy the whole pay system.

They live like slums. 7 to 10 at one place.

Interesting take, my classmate from Lahore city who migrated to canada 15 years ago also have very "bad views" about conduct/habits of Sikhs in canada.

I find their business-likeness too hard to bear. Ever dated a German girl? Trust me, going out with an IBM PC from 1980s.

Heck their air-port in Frankfurt says it all. You are here ONLY to take a flight! Don't even expect anything. AT ALL!

That is because in German culture there is no concept of "pampering" others.

I approached American girls infact I was approached by an American girl and then ...... they are much open minded and easy to talk on the other hand Canadian white women are fked up like stuck up totally and backwards.

Also Americans know stuff. I had chance to talk to many Americans on politics and world affairs , very polite. wHILe Canadians dont know shit , dont even know where Pakistan is.

Why does it matter to you that Canadians don't know where Pakistan is, in my view it is a good thing that they don't know anything about Pakistan or any prejudices associated with it in the minds of western populations who do know about Pakistan. We say in Gujranwala punjabi "Ohla changa honda ay" "it is better that others are unaware of your situation/reality etc.".

Well, yes. And I don't like it. Nothing against them though. Its just the way they are.

Oh there can be prejudice against someone from Pakistan if the other party is errr... uninformed. Usually big cities have less of this issue but anyhoo, it is sad that the young man in question here was rejected solely on his ethnicity.

I wish he were here in Vancouver, could have introduced him to few nice girls or could have been his wingman as an apology.

Vancouver is a different story my friend, its like living in Punjab and Shanghai at the same time

So the universities can milk more international students. It already squeezes very last penny out of local students and it pretty much sees international students as piggy banks.

None, work is low. If you want to work minimum wage for McDonald's or something then you can find a job otherwise nothing.
That's true, but a lot of those same students also end up staying in Canada and getting jobs here. Some of their earnings may even go back to Pakistan as remittances (at least, I can tell you for sure a lot of my friends who came on student visas are sending some money back).

It depends on your field. I know for a fact that DevOps, CI/CD, software developers, etc, have good prospects in Canada and the US. Engineering is a hit-and-miss, but you're generally OK if you're in nuclear, semi-conductors, etc, but I hear civil's tough for some reason. Back in my day, business (esp. finance and accounting) was huge, but it isn't as promising as it was say 9-12 years back, you're better off moving into software development or engineering.
What about Mechanical engineerinh?

Canada is a ghost country and you hardly have decent jobs for immigrants. If you are a dihadi (daily wage worker) in India or Pakistan then you can move there.. you will have an improves lifestyle for sure. An educated person should (imo) totally avoid Canada.
