KARACHI: Renowned Pakistani singer Hadiqa Kiani is geared to release her new album titled WAJD – Volume 1, stated a press release. The compilation is being produced, mastered, mixed and recorded by leading music producer and Hadiqa’s long-time collaborator and brother Irfan Kiani.

WAJD – Volume 1 will introduce eight tracks, recorded in pure organic form in a live studio format, encapsulating the individuality of each featured musician and their respective instrument. With no digital or mechanical post insertions, Hadiqa and Irfan celebrate the raw musical imperfections with the album and hope to give listeners a simple, organic and more majestic resonance.

WAJD is not only an audio album but a musical journey that aims to explore lost traditions, the freedom of ownership of the Eastern folk tradition, the individuality of each artist and instrument free from the superficial and over-processing of digital recording and the stripping away of grandiose arrangements to reveal a simple layer of musical truth,” said Hadiqa.

The singer, who is already recognised for belting out hits in a variety of dialects, will be heard highlighting six regional languages including Punjabi, Saraiki, Sindhi, Balochi, Pashto and Urdu. Further, Hadiqa also features as a guitarist and for the first time ever, she will be playing the Balochi Damboor.

We are honoured to have collaborated with Pakistan’s most talented artists to bring this journey to life, and look forward to evolving as an artist myself as each song and Volume evolves,” added Irfan.

Conceptualised, visualised and directed by Abdullah Haris, WAJD – Volume 1 chapters have been shot in single-take format in natural daylight. The first chapter will be released in March 2017. WAJD – Volume 1 audio chapters will be exclusively released on Patari.

Kamlee Da Dhola, the Saraiki chapter of the album, is soulful and calming. Listen to the song here:

Ali Zafar's latest song 'Ishq' is as intense as his new look

The music and his transformation is inspired by medieval fiction

Ali Zafar stunned everyone with his period performance with Maya Ali at the Lux Style Awards and that moment is still not over for him.

Ali Zafar and Maya Ali performed a dramatic musical number at the LSAs this year

The singer has finally released the original track for that performance, a song he wrote and sang called 'Ishq':

For the song, Ali Zafar's switched up his look, ditching his rockstar avatar for a more warrior-inspired wardrobe. From desi samurai to elven sipahi, it's a clash of fantastical styles.

Will 'Ishq' make it to the soundtrack of Ali Zafar's Pakistani film debut? We'll have to wait to find out.

Abida Parveen and Asrar Shah join forces for this Rangreza track and the result is sheer brilliance

'Phool Khil Jaayein' just may be one of the best songs in any modern Pakistani film

When the teaser for musical film Rangreza came out, we thought the track sounded nice. Turns out its way more than nice. Its great!

The film, starring Bilal Ashraf, Gohar Rasheed and Urwa Hocane, has been described as "a film based on music, in which we are exploring the contrast between classical qawwali and modern pop music. A love story will join the contrast," by director Aamir Mohiuddin.

Aamir Mohiuddin got Josh's Qurram Hussain on board and from the looks of it, that was a great decision!

The first track from the Rangreza soundtrack, which features eight tracks overall, is out and it is proof that Aamir Mohiuddin wants to leave a mark with his directorial debut.

For track 'Phool Khil Jaayein', Abida Parveen teamed up with Asrar Shah and we are stunned at the outcome.

We might have a little bit of an Abida Parveen bias but we have to say, this may be one of the best songs we've heard in a Pakistani movie! We swear we got goosebumps!

The lyrics, wriiten by Asrar Shah himself, are beautiful and the music, by J Ali, does justice to the words and the powerful vocals of two of the best sufi singers around. After a long time we're hearing a very soulful and memorable track. We tip our hats to you Aamir Mohiuddin. You have definitely got us interested in your directorial debut!

Rangreza is slated for release on 21 December and if the rest of the soundtrack is like 'Phool Khil Jaayein' we are definitely excited for it!
