What's new

Pakistani Hindu woman enters elections; Once a landlord's serf

She can't win against the feudal mindset of voters.

Poor labourers like her would still vote for their tribal lords. But her nomination papers should embarrass our political leaders who falsify their documents and lie even under oath.

Kolhi's candidacy is an inspiration for everyone and these traditions are the ones that should prevail.

:P i see her co-religious anti-Pakistan members are not much pleased with this

please ..its not indians who attach religion to everything. @Topic..hope this is the new beginning

Alot.

1. in interior Sindh Pakistani Hindus were enslaved by these bastarddd landlords. Her standing up against these Landlords is sign of victory at a time when so -called male Pakistani Hindus dint show the balls to stand up and ran away to India.

2. She freed many bonded labourers.

3. Even if she doesnt win its a great great step.

4. This shows the way to Pakistani minorities to take part in politics and get the power and guard their rights

If you cannot fight on the front send your women to the war zone.
So said someone famous I cannot remember.

this is a great step toward the building of new Pakistan. Our constitution do not place any obligations on taking part in elections for anyone (except for a few mentioned in there), so everyone has the right to contest the elections if he/she thinks that he/she deserves that seat.

everything. because she can only stand to represent hindus by law. muslims cannot vote for her. qed

Lol she is contesting on general seat. Means anyone can vote for her. And for your information Hindu have won elections on the general seat in 2008 elections. This is something else that they were wealthy feudal like muslim feudal.

That's new to me! Where did you get this info from?

Not only Hindus have separate electorate... they cannot vote for Muslim candidates for national elections. Even the reverse is also true. A muslim voter cannot vote for non-muslim candidate.

In this setup Muslim candidates don't give a damn to non-muslim demands. Who ever framed their constitution was biased towards non-muslim minority??

Get your facts right! The lady we are discussing here is contesting on a general seat, this time around PPP has issued tickets to many Hindu candidates in Sindh on general seats. You're confusing general seats with minority reserved seats & just to enhance your knowledge members on minorities seats are also elected by people of Pakistan indirectly.

Great to see a lower income person from modest background join politics hopefully to bring a good change and help fellow Pakistanis

Another reason why democracy takes time to grow and get better. As long as PML-N doesn't come to power then democracy will continue to improve in Pakistan.
