Musharraf to appeal against arrest order

Former military ruler Pervez Musharraf will appeal in the country's highest court on Thursday against an order for his arrest, a party spokesman said.

The spokesman for Musharraf's All Pakistan Muslim League told AFP that if the order is upheld, then he expected the authorities to put the retired general under house arrest at his property on the edge of Islamabad.
"Musharraf is composed and confident. We will go for an appeal in the Supreme Court today. If the court rejects our appeal, we will present ourselves to the law," APML spokesman Muhammad Amjad said.
"I think if an arrest is necessary, the authorities will declare the farm house a sub-jail," he added.

Musharraf to appeal against arrest order

So how Courts/Lawyers can be fair when they are the involved party? he is appealing against decision of those who are party to the case.

He is technically not on run, he is at his home.

Actually it is the corrollary. He is for sure at his home but "technically" he is on the run for having evaded the arrest at the court.

You hit the head bang on the nail :)

Brilliant legal logic. So the only place where this trial could be done is at Saudi Arabia then?

1. Well to avoid arrest is okie with law, Mushy has right to avoid arrest but on his own, no Govt institution or public servent has to support his act.
2. regarding House arrest is good but its appears as privilege not available to others.
3. regarding state secrets, its a decoy to avoid arrest, does not hold waters.

Damn since he not on run i won't be able to use my Favorite one liner for Absconders : Bhaag Bhaag Bose DK , Bose DK , "Bose DK" Bhaag .

Technically to evade unlawful life attempt by lawyers simple logic.

the lawyers attacked him yesterday and they can kill him in any such attack.

April 18, 2013: Dr Raza Bokhari, North American Point of Contact to General Pervez Musharraf, Former President of Pakistan and Chief of all Pakistan Muslim League (APML), in speaking to various media outlets issued the following statement:

Former President Musharraf earlier today appeared in Islamabad High Court in a procedural matter to seek extension in his transitory bail, which was due to expire today, April 18, 2013. The Judge, in an unprecedented move, took an unwarranted decision to reject the extension request.
...
The augmented State Security Apparatus assigned to President Musharraf in the face of specific and credible physical threats to his life by the enemies of Pakistan escorted the Former President to his home in Islamabad.

The Former President is filing an appeal in the Supreme Court of Pakistan against this ill-conceived decision of Islamabad High Court. We expect this unwarranted judicial activism, motivated by personal vendettas since his return to Pakistan to participate in the upcoming elections, will cease and the Supreme Court, without prejudice, will immediately grant necessary relief following precedence and the Rule of Law; the absence of which will cause mockery of the nation, can result in unnecessary tension amongst the various pillars of State and possibly destabilize the country.

To all those & all those who follow corrupt media channels who say he fled the court & BS.

yaar he should just surrender to police!!! and save some pride!

ISLAMABAD: General (retd) Pervez Musharraf on Thursday escaped from the premises of the Islamabad High Court after the cancellation of his bail application by Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui in the judges detention case.

Immediately after the bail cancellation, police tried to reach the former military ruler but he was escorted by his personal security, fleeing in his bullet-proof black four-wheeler.

Human Rights Watch on Musharraf’s escape

This act of the former military ruler “underscores his disregard for due legal process and indicates his assumption that as a former army chief and military dictator he can evade accountability for abuses”, Ali Dayan Hasan, Pakistan director at Human Rights Watch said in a statement.

“It is essential that Pakistan’s military authorities which are protecting the former dictator comply with the Islamabad High Court’s orders and ensure that he presents himself for arrest,” the statement added.

It further said that “continued military protection for General Musharraf will make a mockery of claims that Pakistan’s armed forces support the rule of law and bring the military further disrepute that it can ill afford.”

Human Rights Watch reiterated its call that Musharraf be held accountable for abuses and reaffirmed that a fair trial for the former military ruler is key to ending impunity for abuses by Pakistan’s security forces.
