Most of these ambassadors are political appointees.

Now think this. Sharif is a PM with a dubious mandate. We know from his 'experience', his objective has always been to look for his personal and family interests in the cloak of democracy. For people like him and Zardari, there is no such thing called merit. They always try to push their people in positions of power to get the benefit or to reward.

So he took the passport, gave a receipt and actually told I will return it and refuse your visa even after the guy said sorry?? What does he want? Poun parjain? Dude that is soo typical feudal gunda mentality!

Is this how we are increasing the "tourism sector" and lets not forget the remittance that the govt was also trying to milk with a tax from the very people that are literally supporting a major part of the economy...One would think the ambassador (according to our cultural mindset if the ambassador feels he needs to be bowed at) would be bowing at the overseas Pakistanis and making life easy for them - If I am not wrong the Berlin embassy actually sent an email around telling of updates or something to facilitate people and that they WORK FOR THE PEOPLE as they are the PEOPLE'S servant COMPARE that to this one!

His visa isnt refused....Watch the video...His passport is held against his wishes (maybe he didnt wish to apply anymore after being in a fight with the ambassador) and a receipt given to him AS WELL AS THE JUDGEMENT that it will be refused - now tell me where in the world does this happen?

Well I had a different experience....not from Pakistani embassy but a different situation in diplomatic area ...twice - once was being treated like a VIP coz of my work second was being treated like a VIP coz of my words


Well the guy is talking about Australia...not every guy is the same....And knowing another 2 Pakistani embassador's family personally....I wont be surprised if Australian guy really did face insults!

I prefer the Omani ambassadors and Saudi one (in country xyz)...both of who were family friends and they would take out the time to get to know their own people (and these are countries where they dont pay tax like in Pakistan which pays for these rich brats lifestyle) - I know the Saudi one actually has a celebration to welcome students on scholarship from his country - some from my course went so got to see what some embassies are doing for their people and then we have Pakistani embassies - whole new level....

Hmm, don't know man. Yes we have missions all over the world at all important places. In UK, when i was going for my passport renewal, i was like, fcuk man, this is gonna be all bribe and desi usual shyt again. So i had a contact in the embassy to take care, and he said, bro, the system is clean, just go there by 10 am and you will be sorted. If there are any problems, let me know. I was like okay, and since i was coming in by train from another city, i didn't know what to expect. Surprisingly the process was very smooth. I didn't need to call the contact and was out of the place by 11am.
There were some idiots trying to get ahead of the queue, and i remember an embassy official explaining that you will be
called by the number on your ticket. No one will be allowed to go ahead. It happened fine for me.

In this case, we don't know the facts. Like i said, if he wants to visit Pakistan, then he should get a NICOP or maintain his Pakistani Passport for himself and his family. I believe there is some citizenship route for kids of Pakistani citizens born abroad. Not sure though.

Also, about keeping the passport, each embassy has different rules that they follow. For example, i applied for US visa in Karachi, they can return the passport to you if you want to get another visa application done somewhere else, and if your visa is approved by the Americans, they call you for your passport to be sent to them so they can add the sticker.
UK on the other hand doesn't do that.....if you request your passport back, i believe your application is cancelled.

Interesting...I am a worse case

long story short, I entered the embassy at near closing time and everyone knew my name took me to the counselor and he sat me down and we sorted out my problem

Of course this service only came after I emailed the ambassador and called him like 4 times coz he couldnt understand my situation so YES I have a rough idea that they have very little technical knowledge...I knew what I wanted and how to get it so I had my homework I just needed their official seal to get my work done

Yea I am also not sure about the NICOP thing...Speaking of which I need to renew mine ....

Nope...I dont recall with the UK but I did do the same with EU and USA visa ....Like I said I dont let them keep it without a receipt... and UK is quick to provide a receipt!

Surprisingly I found the easiest to be the USA visa....I havent tried Australian so cant really say much about down under

This is a typical problem, where the mother and father are dual nationals, the kids are not. So kids need visa or approval to visit, something like that.

The process is pretty simple. The kids can get the NICOP easily and if they don't then visa sticker would be needed.

I have had my fair share of embassy visits so believe me not everyone in any Pakistani embassy is doing work or knows what they are doing!

They however do know 2 things...Money is landing in their account pr mth as salary and plans on how to further loot people for more money....many call it under the table payments but to get such payments alot of junk is done! Something NO embassy on the planet except those from Asia or specifically sub continent do to the very people who contribute to their wages!

I usually get them to work for me (which is SUPPOSED to be the way) but even to get them moving a few strings need to be pulled for them to behave and treat someone without a position with some humanly respect!

I met few officials in embassy of Pakistan in Malaysia, He was CSS officer from Peshawar. very competent and helpful guy. Not every one is black sheep. If to be in a govt is equal to as a corrupt officer. then GOD bless us.
What i am saying is as i have seen there many Pakistanis who are illegals try to argue with officials on wrong basis on which matters embassy can not do any thing.

Here in Kuala Lumpur if you visit pak embassy you will see many Pakistanis standing outside embassy as agents who will do their best to earn as much as from you. well you will fine beggars too there.

This expatriate cry baby is screaming just because he thinks that as he holds Australian citizenship, he is entitled to some royal treatment by the inferior Embassy staff and Ambassador.

I think that the Ambassador should should crush his skull and then claim diplomatic immunity. These expatriates think that they some superior beings just because they live outside Pakistan. You left Pakistan for economic reasons, you deserve no respect.

The hubris of these overseas Pakistanis needs to be treated harshly.

Good to know you met one! I have related part of my story and mind you change your attitude of quoting people out of context!

Embassy can not do anything but they should not loose their professionalism! Keeping a passport against one's wish is not professional in any language! Giving him the receipt as though doing him a favour AND saying you wont get the visa even after apologizing 10x is ruthless!

Lastly, if he is illegal, he wont get Australian passport unless you are suggesting there is an illegal way of getting one!

I had a visit to Pakistan's consulate in Houston some time back. Two people in the office servicing the crowd. One of them was respectful other was so fcking poisonous he would yell at the guy before me who forgot to bring some documents. And when I came in for my turn he couldnt find any reason to spew his poison on me because I came prepared and he was in a constant "sarra hua" condition. God how I wished to punch through his fugly face. The other guy was nice, engaged in other friendly conversations etc.

Bottom line, you gotta deal with all types of people. The response you get is that specific person's personality not his association or training he received in home country.
