Pakistani Air Force Chief rolls out F-16 to bombs Taliban himself.

Sir,

If you know this guy Julius Ceasar---long before the muslims----why his soldiers died for him---he would march with them and he would lead in the battle if needed ad did Alexander did before him and as did Genghis Khan afterwards and as any other great generals of that time.

In this day and age---generals manage the wars----.

Just don't believe in all the stories that you read about the generals fighting in the front----. The generals guided the troops where they were needed the most and directed them against the enemies---and as necessary they stepped into the war as needed. It is very "immature" to believe in something like that.

If the general went into the battle with the first charge---then who would lead the fight---who would direct the troops---who would shift the troop position---who would adjust to the enemy charge or enemy movement.

We are talking about the leadership qualities---please don't make it a STUPID discussion by bringing in suicides.

All your Comments just make conclusion to one Question.....what is final outcome result.................and you just tell me what is final result in Afghan War..........??????

. .
If you never read then you must know how much suicide rate was in US army during Iraq and Afghan War... not just go with official number, the original number is much bigger than what they say on media.....and then the overall result of war itself....after put so many resources, money, lives of soldiers what they got....loose the war ???.....
If a commander sitting in AC room and giving order on Wireless.......a solider will not be motivated.

Also don't forget the Islamic history......if Islam spread on more than half of the earth.......it was because in all those wars........the generals were fighting in front of other soldiers....not like Roman or European or other kings....sitting under a tent on top of hill and watching die his soldiers......and when time come first to run from behind....

You also might not understand what i said above....better you ask a soldier who fought wars....how it feels like when your commanding officer is fighting besides you..

Hi,

You are in error of understanding the cause of suicide in American soldiers---.

The americans are also very God fearing and religious people-----. These wars that they have fought in Iraq, Afghanistan, Iraq---they have fought because the country called them to do their duty----. Many of them are and were against this war----. Some could not accept the brutality and unjustifiable acts committed in this war---so out of shame and humility---so---many of them chose to take their lives because their conscience did not allow them to live anymore.

Have you flown a combat aircraft to comment on what the experience is like.

Not really......although I would so love to.

But, being responsible for a team myself, I know what I am and am not expected to do. There are well defined and well structured roles for everyone in any decent organization and so such elementary statements are not really required.

Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman led from the front in the battle against miscreants by participating himself in the decisive phase of Operation Zarb-i-Azb.

The air chief along with a formation of the fighter aircraft took off from a forward operating base of Pakistan Air Force to carry out air strikes on the militant hideouts, said a statement released on Friday.

“Several dens of the militants and explosive depots were annihilated during the recent air campaign,” the statement added.

Following the air mission, the air chief met with the air and ground crew and lauded their services for the nation. He also appreciated their selfless devotion and morale. While paying tribute to the iconic war veterans of PAF, the Air Chief Marshal reiterated his resolve to root out menace of terrorism from the country.

“PAF had played a decisive role in 1965 war and now playing key role in operation Zarb-i-Azb. The air force will continue to prove that it is an efficient, hard hitting air force second to none,” said the air chief.

I suppose that goes for the USAF as well. Considering that it can be termed as the mentor of the PAF?
USAF fighter leaders and Wing Kings(Generals) regularly fly combat missions. In addition, the USAF Chief is kept current on the F-22 even if he doesn't partake in combat.

Sir I support leading from the front but Air Chief taking this risk is not a very good idea if GOD forbid something wrong had happened this could have badly affected PAF.

How?
We lost an air chief in a luxurious Fokker Crash? What possibility is there that something would go wrong here?
Aircraft are not playthings with warnings "Not for 10 years or younger". Every-time you go up, there is NO guarantee apart from perhaps some in terms of mechanical if the aircraft is well made if you will come down in one piece.

This was an easy routine mission and the PR generated by it was worth it for the PAF.

I think he flew in a dual seater. In the video when he was seated in the plane, the cockpit seemed to be of the back seat.
Might be. I did not see the video but only the picture in front of the single seater.

why a air-chief will need to bomb himself he should guide from them from grounds instead of going to a pleasure trip on F-16 . in fact he deprive actual pilot from getting experience in combat as it is unlikely in any real combat any chief will participate rather the professional pilot will do the job . i think he should focus in modernizing PAF instead of creating media buzz.

Dude, you are getting way ahead of yourself. At the end, the -16 unloaded the weapons at the right GPS coordinates and took out the bad guys. Who filled the gas, who pressed the fire button and who controlled the joy stick, it doesn't matter!!

Pakistani pilots are in LOVE with F-16 no one even chief not spare a chance to fly this beauty.
