Aa I said... These projects exist in files... Not even on drawing board.. And even if Sweden or Turkey (Which has invested in F-35) start today it will take like 15 years or more to be inducted or to enter production...

That's the selected concept of TF-X. First flight is planned at 100. anniversary of Turkish Republic in 2023 If schedule proceeds as planned.

it will simply augment the already T-37 and K-8 fleet. K-8 willl probably replace all other types over time.

Good luck although I doubt the 2023 timeline ... Looking at countries like China,Russua and US struggling with their fighters...

P.S; Is TFX a 4.5th gen or 5th generation .... It's design concept seems pretty conventional... Also has the work actually started? Which radar, engine etc would it use?

PAF wants LIFT... K-8 doesn't quiet fit the bill ... No wonder PAF has been looking at L-15 in the past and now Yak-130...

P.S; the T-38 deal sounds nonsense... As Turk members pointed out they themselves need these jets...

JF-17s twin seat variant is also under development so it seems quiet unlikely ... Apart from the fact that urdu press or "The Nation" arent worth shit.

sorry, i meant to say t-37.
i doubt PAF is going to go for either yak 130 or L-15 due to finances. It may end up using jf-17 B version

PAF already has some experience with the elder brother of T-38 when Jordan handed over a few F-5s even if it was for a few hours

So our K-8 is obsolete..?

No, K-8 is an intermediate trainer. T-38 is what the USAF uses too, to train its pilots. T-38 provides F-20 type capabilities in an advance trainer and really works as a light fighter with serious maneuverability and speed. The PAF is or has used T-37 trainers before, so T-38 is a natural progression towards having a more advanced, light fighter trainer. Plus it would train your pilots to have experience with twin engines too. In case J-xx or J-31 or SU-35 every become a reality, the pilots going through T-38 trainer, would already know majority of how to flight and manage a twin engine plane.
You'll create a very good pilot base for the future through this.

Great news, if a little funny. Pakistan is a country with a great philanthropist society because it is in itself a subject of philanthropy.

That being said, I dont foresee any give or take here.. if this was an GCC Arab transaction I would be fretting what we just gave away that is not in the news.

These aircraft (T-37) are being retired from TuAF....i wonder how much life they have left?

These should have a few thousand hours left. These are trainers so a LOT can be refurbished and reused. There are thirty four of them, so you could cannibalize some of them over time and use the remainder of the fleet.

I'd imagine these will serve you for the next next 10-12 years. Even if you produced 1000 pilots out of these, its excellent return. These are gifts, or cost little, if I remember correctly !!!!

Meh.....we need supersonic jet trainers beyond this level.....plus they will replace some and add more....so more budget needed.

I think with enough trainer jets, PAF should now have two squadrons of display team....one based on K-8s and other on T37

.we need supersonic jet trainers beyond this level.....

At this point in life, this is one of the best trainers out there. The USAF and USN have used this very trainer in their aggressor squadrons with the -16's. Also, pilot conversions for -15, -16, B1, B2, the Blackbird (SR-71), the Raptor and the -35 take place through this platform......not sure if we are discussing the same jet here.

The Turkish configuration includes many upgrades, including 2-3 full MFD's, HUD, and provisions for weapons such as two AIMx and a small gun. These can give the PAF an additional nice little punch with point defense high speed, agile interceptors.

T37C are being donated not T38 Talons

Turkey Planning to Donate 34 T-37 Jet Trainers to Pakistan

Posted on 20 August, 2015

Turkish Air Force Cessna T-37C 09838 ‘2-838′ could be one of the 34 of the type which Turkey plans to donate to Pakistan. Turkish Air Force

TURKEY IS planning to supply surplus 34 Cessna T-37 jet trainers to Pakistan free-of-charge. The Commander of the Turkish Air Force, General Abidin Unal, informed his counterpart in the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman, of the decision to donate the aircraft when they met recently, according to reports today, August 20, in the Pakistani media. These were reported as T-38s in the media, but PAF sources have confirmed that it is T-37s that are involved.

It is expected that they will be handed over before the year-end. Their acquisition without cost will reduce the financial burden on the PAF and meet its requirements for at least the next decade, according to PAF sources.

The Turkish Air Force has had 24 T-37Bs and 34 T-37Cs in storage for over three years since the type was grounded and effectively withdrawn from service following a crash on January 16, 2012, which killed both crew members. In view of the number to be transferred, it is assumed that it will be the T-37Cs that are involved in the transaction.

The PAF also operates both the T-37B and T-37C. The original 35 T-37Bs that were in PAF service have been withdrawn, but 40 more ex-USAF examples, were acquired, in two batches of 20, with deliveries beginning from around 2011. Around 27 T-37Cs also remain in PAF service from 40 originally acquired. AFD-Dave Allport

some1's pocket is empty, in fact there is a hole in the pocket.
so whatever they get donated they take it happily.

Thanks for your profound comments however these aircraft will be used for spares to maintain our existing fleet of T37B/C as the production line closed a long time ago.
