Pakistan-US joint air exercise - Falcon Talon III

.
Have learned from highly reliable sources that at the request of the USAF, a big exercise is due to take place in Pakistan under the designation Falcon Talon.

I'm currently at the Home of the Thunders. It has been planned out for some time. Great to see them coming back again. And the requests are mutual between the Dept of the Air Force at the Pentagon and AHQ PAF.

When it served national interests of US, They gave the top of the line fighter plane to us at the time when it was being inducted in their airforce! And looked the other way on our nuclear ambitions. So AESA equipped F16 depends upon converging interests and how far we can go to deliver upon US interests in the region. Options for converging interests:

1. Be a hostile nation to Iran... High dividend game both from US, KSA & UAE perspective. High blow back at home. however, India nexus with Iran can be played cleverly with home crowd.
2. Let go of Kashmir and cozy up to India .... Lower dividends now. Mixed response at home. Need to package the deal in such a way that the bitter pill can be swallowed.
3. Let go of CPEC/China... High dividends. Ramp down CPEC, bargain for max from USA/KSA/UAE. No blow-back at home
4. Let go of our influence on Afgh Taliban...Now Med gain. Depends upon point 2.
5. Cozy up to Israel...Med dividend but high from Israel itself. High blow-back from religious groups
6. Be a full partner to the Arab adventures in support of KSA/UAE. Higher dividends. Need to package this for home consumption.

It all boils down to our national priorities. What can we do from the above lists so that we gain the max without letting go of our leverage.

@Windjammer We need to be extremely cautious about espionage, especially ELINT against Thunder and Chinese weapons.

True but why are we inviting these yankies in the first place? They're true bastards , using small states as they will and then discarding them , Salala incident was enough to drop all diplomatic relations with them.
We've been fighting their dirty wars since 1950s. Not to mention when the CIA Assisnated Liaqat Ali Khan for their petty gains.

Is F16 still worth of you doing these?

There are hardly any benefits to inviting the Americans into Pakistan. Unless we pitch their experienced pilots vs our junior pilots (In F-7s, not JF-17). Likely, this trip will serve as familiarization of the terrain and military environment in Pakistan for the American pilots who have prepared to strike Pakistan's nuclear facilities. This will make them comfortable with the area for a future strike. Another benefit to the Americans is signals intelligence (civilian and military both). They'll likely use this trip to probe for weaknesses, not to mention this is a refresher for them to be familiar with how we operate incase they decide to attack. I say keep them out of most of Pakistan (let them land and stay at Faisal Base via the Arabian Sea) and let them do the exercises over the sea rather than over our territory. The less they know the better. Snakes.

So depends on how much you ate willing to whore your country out? Each option above is sad and pathetic. And as far as taliban go, US doesnt want Pakistan to abandon Taliban. Its they only country that can control any of Taliban's actions

Sadly there are still people who are going to bend at any angle just to get those fuckin F-16s even if that costs the country alot more.

So does Israel whore it self out to receive that massive aid in military and otherwise? Or does Trump is whoring US out when it reached out to Pakistan to negotiate a peace settlement because it has become unbearable for the US in Afghanistan?
As for what the US wants regarding taliban is of no significance to Pakistan because if history is anything to go by, Pakistan follows its own interests and if those interests are aligned with a taliban government in Afghanistan, than so will it be.

Basically we start barking and biting on their command. No

I'd avoid allowing them to assess the Thunder, Chinese drones, AEWACS, missiles etc. Other than that, with Windows XP running in Pakistan's central air defence command along with Avax anti-virus, and the years they had free access to Shahbaz and the entire country in general, means they are intimately familiar with our territory.

But the exercise itself has benefits for PAF. Let us not forget, PAF has acquired its edge through American training. Pitting our pilots against Americans is the best way to teach them practical combat skills.

I am not a proponent of any of my quoted options. I am just stating the facts for those who do not understand the reasons why countries behave the way they behave.

A very steep price to pay.

Let them come, but take all the necessary precautions. Don't let them near any Chinese gear and keep them within a limited air corridor.
