Guys stop assuming things and jumping to conclusions.
Let's face some facts, US is a superpower if not THE superpower, regardless what it suffers, the Americans have enough firepower to lay any country to waste. Having said this the Americans have also learnt their lesson about being the world's Policeman, so while it's working on pulling out of Syria and Afghanistan, why would it want to get tied up in some other conflict. The military of US and Pakistan have enjoyed a good relationship.
USAF was full of praise for the package PAF selected for it's Block-52s and even surprised how this platform beat all expectations with it's use in WOT.

Take India's example. They had no problem taking their flankers to US in Red Flag and other exercises with Typhoons etc.

Not true at all. They were only allowed to participate with their radars switched off. Red Flag, at least, was a disaster for them exactly because of this. Had a lot of fun made of them by the Americans with all that friendly-on-friendly and not knowing which way to go.

On a brighter side may be Americans have realized that abandoning Pakistan is not a righy thing to do...

i would not read too much in this announcement. These things are planned atleast a year in advance. And USAF trains with a number of nations. There is no warming of relations. It remains strained....however, Talib Talks can give it a lift. And Dr. Trump is known for about turns too

US relation with Pakistan is a funny case, though there is no doubt that the top notch equipment came from USA however they are the ones who are responsible to keep PA a modest force. We are allies but India can get CBU 105s while we cant, India is offered AESA equipped F16s however we can't even get Jordanians F16s and there is no chance of F16V kits.
1971 we had an arm embargo but we were allies, 1999 We were allies but PAF was sanctioned.
Can anyone shed some light on this weird ally relation?

The answer is very simple: alignment, or lack thereof, of national interests.

Just one of the many leaks and reports that came after that Red Flag. Pretty sure that a cursory google search will give you quite a bit more, especially on the fratricides.

@Windjammer any idea which air assets will be participating from both sides? We need to be extremely cautious about espionage, especially ELINT against Thunder and Chinese weapons.

We all know what the Americans want from Pakistan. It is a one way street. Basically do more and obey India. Obviously won't happen.

This USAF exercise means zilch. What matters is how the White House behaves and whether it delivers on its Afghanistan promises.
