Pakistan Turns Against the West

I get what you are trying to imply but one can't draw a parallel between India and Pakistan.New Delhi really isn't beholden to any foreign entity like Pakistan is.India can circumnavigate around Western diktats because India can and does stand alone.

Reason for examples was to highlight how a state is compelled to listen to its people above geo political concerns, and you are right that the fallouts are and will be totally different between what India gets in return and what Pakistan gets in return. The democratic party ruling in Pakistan is stuck between the Army and the people, while its making popular people friendly decisions by blocking supplies and criticizing drone strikes its losing out on its relations with the US and is a mute spectator watching hopelessly as the relationship goes sour.

.
Pakistan needs to follow its own National interest wherever it takes Pakistan. Pakistan is not needlessly confronting the West. Pakistan is only defending its sovereign rights and if that means challenging the West when those rights are trampled, so be it.

Yet,the Pakistani polity has no qualms in carrying out anti-public decisions all the time. What harm does one more stand really pose to it's popularity. What gives? In quintessence, the primary military dependance of Pakistan, which often dictates it's civilian government and policy, looks for leverage where there isn't any. That is where the difference in Pakistan's aims and geo-political goals go southward.

What gives is the people's anger for the Salala incident - the polity wants an apology as a face saver to show its people which the US is in no mood to render. What also gives is the outward protests against drone strikes - again for public consumption, when it has already received clandestine approval from people in charge.
The army's in a fix about the drone strikes and cannot prove to its people why its not shooting one down and hence the outsourcing and wants the bumbling leaders to endure the backlash which also proves that democracy can never work in power.

The most stupid article I have ever read. Sweeping generalizations and twisted fact to prove an invalid point. These western writuers and Indian cheerleaders making so much effort to 'isolate' Pakistan.

Read the following to reassure that you need more effort to 'isolate' Pakistan

EU foreign policy chief heads to Pakistan to launch ‘strategic dialogue’ – The Express Tribune

BRUSSELS: EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton heads to Pakistan on Monday to launch a wide-ranging “strategic dialogue” covering foreign and security issues, as well as development and trade.
Ashton, who flies to Islamabad after an EU-Russia summit in Saint Petersburg, will Tuesday join Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar to launch the talks aimed at giving new impetus to ties between Pakistan and the 27-nation bloc.
“My visit to Pakistan is an expression of the EU’s support for the consolidation of democracy in the country,” she said in a statement ahead of the three-day trip.
The dialogue aims to spell out how to work toward an ambitious five-year plan agreed in January that would culminate in a Free Trade Agreement and include anti-terrorist measures and heightened development aid.
Ashton will also meet Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, military operations chief Lieutenant General Waheed Arshad, parliamentary opposition leaders and, in a Wednesday visit to Lahore, Punjab province Governor Sardar Muhammad Latif Khan Khosa.
“We want to deepen our collaboration in many areas, including judicial reform, strengthening the democratic institutions, but also work jointly on promoting regional stability and tackling extremism and terrorism,” she said.
Ashton also said the EU wanted “to capitalise on the momentum in our relationship created by the special trade measures we adopted following the 2010 floods, and the significant development and humanitarian assistance we have provided to the country.”
In a ground-breaking move in February, the World Trade Organization approved a waiver allowing 75 Pakistani products duty-free access to European Union markets for two years to help textile exports after devastating floods in 2010.
The EU is Pakistan’s largest trading partner, receiving almost 30% of its exports – worth almost 3 billion euros.
Pakistan’s trade with the EU consists mainly of textiles, which account for more than 70% of its exports to European countries.
Brussels last month announced a further 20 million euros in aid to victims of Pakistan’s 2011 monsoon floods, as well as people displaced by conflict, bringing funding this year to 55 million euros.

If they really wanted to save face they wouldn't have indulged in ineffective stands as a backlash to the Salala incident. They were on topic and only firm for a few days. The second Pakistan added irrelevant crap like the civilian nuclear deal on par with India as compensation to the incident, the United States understood that they were bluffing.Hence, now the relevant issue boils down to whether or nor President Obama should apologize over Salala(which is of no benefit even if it rendered). No prizes for guessing who the consequential losers are.

Btw its west , which is truning its back from pakistan, just like in late 80s n after soviet withdrawl?
ISI is become the ultimate, target of the westrn media, & their secret opps groups, who are looking for a opening, of the basses against Iran, & dismentlling pakistAni nukes?
As judicial deprtment, executive working group(demo-crazly elected govt) & cia backed, opposition parties, are heading towards , a breaking point, ISI can't afford , to keep waiting for, immediate required deceions, for the future of a independent soverign, & strong pakistan?
Our parlimentarins doesn't have enough, time to think & act, for the future of pakistan.
So, the case is all the, special & secret fastpaced , decions are heading , towards our army chief, because our politicians are making crupt money!

I find the naivety of some posters remarkable. Americans decided to go the whole length Anti Pakistan in about 2006. The rest is history. Its just that we have some in Pakistan who are desperate to be in with Americans. I look forward to the day that all Pakistanis realise this.

Pakistani and Muslim interests are simply divergent and have been divergent from 1947 onwards

.
pakistan doesn't turn against the west and never will. it has no stake in the good or bad of how the west turns out. pakistan just wants to be left alone and in peace when anglo-americans invaded the neighborhood and disrupts peace everywhere. it is the impossible demands the US asks of pakistan and the anglo-americans' frustration that pakistan cannot possibly comply with demands that are detrimental to its long term interests that drove the anglo-americans mad

but we shouldnt be, over reactive? right!
pakistan needs to share, its intersts on the , bassis of reality, & the reality is west was in , thinking that if, they stop thier aid, to pakistan , pakistan wouldbe in hell, & they (allies) can , futher demand ! do more , do more?
ISI & pakarmy is far more, clever thn our crupt politicians, who were bzy in chasing , allied money, in thier different accounts, getting special, bribes in cash, by giving delta force, blackwaters, visas from pakistani, embsy in USA.
it was the great game!
but , it was busted from the capture of raymond davis, quality intell was recived, from raymond of his network!
hussain haqqani, was trapped by ISI, in wasington, & the names of high level opreators, came into microscopic view of ISI.

pakistan wants to be a friendly, progressive, moderete islamic state, if west can be our friend, without any great game & conspiracies, pakistan is ready for its co-opreation, with everyone.
but if someone think , they can plan & execute any secret opps against pakistan, they are living in the paradise of stupids, still pakistan is a important pice of a puzzle, if put in cleverly, it can give peace to the , world.
with its friends like, china ! pakistan can make or break , anyone, its upto others, which way they wanted it to happen.

well, spoken mate!

Three US ‘diplomats’ detained in Peshawar for illegally carrying weapons
Zahir Shirazi | DAWN.COM | 33 mins ago
Three US

why they are doing this, to us? its ,my question from the west?
can any one of them , allow any pakistani national, with so much arms & ammo, in thier countries?

.
I think it is more appropriate to say that Pakistan and Pakistanis are waking up to realise that our interests simply do not converge with an AIPAC infected American regime

BUT THE PROBLEM IS NO ONE IN PAKISTAN KNOWS WHAT ITS(PAKISTAN'S) INTERESTS ARE!!!!!!!!! THEY ONLY HAVE THEIR OWN AHEAD OF THE COUNTRY'S....
