Pakistan to generate 50,000 MW of electricity per year - Dr Samar

Mashallah Pakistan, hope our brothers achieve their goals and hope the relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh strengthen in the upcoming years inshallah.

Pakistan Zindabad. To all the haters of Pakistan out there, look at where this country started from. Zilch! It did not have 1 thing in order, besides Lahore city, no other city in Pakistan was developed. It wasn't like Indian cities that were developed by the British colonialists before 1947. Everything Pakistan has made is through the work efforts, blood & sweat of all Pakistanis. Pakistan has been raised from nothing to a regional power, & a country that the whole world considers. Pakistan is still a 63 year old young country, look at where the US was in its first 63 years. When we have greats like Jinnah, Iqbal we can also look up to & aspire to be, I see further greatness for Pakistan in the future God Willing. We are reforming our society day by day, we are exposing our inherent flaws & trying to make our society better. We're tackling our problems bravely, every Pakistani's heart beats for Pakistan & its prosperity, & there will be good things to hope for in the future. I'm SO proud of my Pakistani roots, Pakistan Zindabad!

To all Indians & other haters of Pakistan.

This is what Pakistan was like in 1954:

This is Pakistan in 2009:

Please, stop will all your hating of Pakistan, & realize how much blood & sweat Pakistan has put from 1947 to reach where they are today: literally from Stone Age to a country to a regional & 27th largest economy of the world. Lahore was the only one proper city in Pakistan in 1947. Besides Lahore, Pakistan did not have development like Indian cities such as Bombay, Jaipur, Lucknow, Delhi, Calcutta, Bangalore etc did. I've seen a lot of Pakistanis admire Indians & India, but I've never seen the opposite. We realize you are a bigger & stronger country than us, but a token of appreciation isn't too much to ask.

GENERATE 50000 MW PER YEAR

That is very unrealistic target given the current condition of pakistan. It doesnt seem that such amount of Electricity production is going to happen anytime soon in pakistan.

Supply and Demand of Electricity in Pakistan

Supply and Demand Position: 2008-2020 (MW)

.......................... 2008 2010 2012 2014 2016 2018 2020
Existing Generation 15,903 15,903 15,903 15,903 15,903 15,903 15,903

Hi, this article is suspect. You simply cannot crank out that much power even in 3-4 years. Besides where will the money come from? Pakistan's current power plants are gas and oil driven, coverting them to coal based plants will be very expensive.

Pakistan should cut down on transmission line losses, electricity thefts and make people pay their bills. Government agencies were some of the biggest defaulters, as were some of the largest industrialists. The ministry of defense was the worst offender.

Power shortages are costing Pakistan at least 2% lost GDP growth, due to lost productivity, lost exports, and resulting increased unemployent and further lost income/spending. When this 2% is compounded over the past 3 years as an annuity, then one sees the huge cost it has.

You're only posting what already exists.

Well thats saying something, considering they have managed 20,000MW installed capacity in last 60yrs(from this too they are only able to produce 14,000 MW)..but would be able to produce 50,000 MW in next 4 months!!..looks like Raja pervez Ashraf is not the only one making promises, he can't keep.

Obviously this is a misquoting. Mubarakmand ain't that stupid.

He didn't say the timeline - peoples are misquoting his posts

He only talks about the potential of 50,000MW per year from these coal...
Now it is up to the government when and how they are going to utilize it

Once the project is technically feasible and approved by international consultants , money shall not be problem .Again it depend upon leadership and their priorities.
