What's new

Pakistan successfully tests Hatf (Vengeance) III - Ghaznavi SRBM.

If it does, then why would Pakistan want more range?

Why not ? Why would you trade in your Honda Civic for a Audi when both can drive you to work ? :azn:

Khair jokes aside - What do you reckon is our level of comfort with this missile (now that we've tested it and its variants a couple of times) in terms of its design ? In that can we customize it and tinker with it to a reasonably high level because now we understand pretty much everything that goes into building this missile, its shortcomings and how it could be improved upon ?

Are we still limited by that cake-mix analogy that you once presented ? :(

Bhatta ji, you misconstrued the idea. Here the idea is not trade in the Civic for a Lorry. Your requirement is the Civic with all it has... and it is most cost effective for you. All you have to to d osi to keep making updates and changes to it. and it will do fine.

Yes, we have to eat our cake.

@DESERT FIGHTER

2000KM is enough. Push comes to shove, we will turn India into a barren land just as easily as they can turn us.

Mutually Assured Destruction.

What do you think will happen once India decides to move its assets far away into the south which are beyond the range of any Pakistani missile.

Nothing will happen, assets so far away will not pose any threat to Pakistan, and thus do not require our attention.

If your example is to go by, why do you think countries need to develop missiles with extended range? By this very same example then ghuari 1 and shaheen 1 would had been sufficient since they could too punch the face?

You took my example word by word, ignoring the underlying message. When you hit the face/head, you hit the nerve center, the decision center, that taken out, body is useless. Coming back to your comment, countries need extended range missiles for enemy countries on the farther side of the globe US vs Russia, etc. Some countries do it to enhance their stature, but for that you need to have strong economy and not dependant on others.

The whole point is extending the range of Pakistani missiles specially since they have tested a two stage motor upto 2500 kms should not be a big deal.

Who said? extending the range is child's play once you have mastered the more critical challenges like propulsion system, navigation system, target acquisition system, command and control system, monitoring and tracking system. Range is a simple phenomenon of adding more fuel, however increasing the weight and size would also affect manouverability, platform stability, and aerodynamics.

Too date we do not have an SLV project and that my good friend has nothing to do with punching any one anywhere.

Why do we need an SLV project? How many satellites have we launched or plan to launch in the next 10 years? Before developing the launching system, doesn't it make sense to first focus on development of the satellite itself?

Wrong example, it would be like putting (wasting) more fuel in a vessel that is intended to go one way only.

Why not ? Why would you trade in your Honda Civic for a Audi when both can drive you to work

Shaheen-IA's range was revealed in the second test flight to be 900km in an ISPR release.
If you mean an "Alpha" version of Shaheen-II, thats already in development i.e. Shaheen-III.

You said expect a Shaheen-III missile test "soon" ....How long is "soon" for you? Like three more years?!

Do you think Pakistan has plans/data/blueprints laid out for an ICBM project? ;)

but sir' still 2,000 km is too less, I mean Andaman & Nicobar is about 3,000 km away, at least a solid 3,500 to 4,000 km range would the best one IMHO

Soon. As in 'near future' / 'jald' / 'mustaqbil qareeb mein'.

I don't know.
Pakistan is working on ICBM for long may they have completed the work but they are waiting for USA to leave Afghanistan than they will show case these Missiles most probably because USA and NATO would not like missiles which reach Europe and Israel

And Pakistan Army uses armoured Unicorns as cavalry, but we don't like to show off, do we? :disagree:

Sir we didn't do nuclear tests for more than 16 years Sir although it was ready in 1984 but we tested it in 1998 Sir we are a Muslim country and the moment we start testing long range missiles you would see really different kind of reaction shown to us by USA and Europe than if tested by India so when Pakistan would decide the situation is right they would test them the work was done for long now they are just waiting for right moment you want to live in denial your choice

It is not economical. You must always build your potential to threaten the core of the enemy not the fringes that you are not close to.
If you wanted to target China too, then sure it makes sense. But just to target Andamans, it is not worth it.

Good work. It has been quite awhile since we had a missile test. More then range we need to work on accuracy, speed and ability to inflict damage on the target. We have india covered with shaheen II. I would love an ICBM but right now our focus should be more on perfect hitting.
