No PR382/2015-ISPR Dated: December 15, 2015
Rawalpindi - December 15, 2015:
Pakistan today conducted a successful flight test of Shaheen 1A ballistic missile. The flight test was aimed at re-validating several design and technical parameters of the weapon system. Shaheen1A is capable of delivering different types of warheads to a range of 900 kilometers.

Today’s launch with impact point in Arabian Sea was witnessed by senior officers from Strategic Plans Division, strategic forces, scientists and engineers of strategic organizations.

Director General Strategic Plans Division, Lieutenant General Mazhar Jamil, congratulated the scientists and engineers for their dedication, professionalism and commitment towards yet another display of strengthening Pakistan’s defence. Shaheen-1A with its sophisticated and advanced guidance system makes it a highly accurate missile system. He reiterated that Pakistan’s strategic capabilities are based on Credible Minimum Deterrence and desire for peaceful co-existence in the region.

The successful test launch has been warmly appreciated by the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan who congratulated the scientists and engineers on achieving another outstanding milestone.

:pakistan:As per Express News, ISPR says that Pakistan has successfully tested 900 km range Shaheen 1A missile :pakistan:

That explains the blast sound over Karachi airport @tahir195 :D

Congratulations! Shaheen-1A is a sophisticated weapon system that can precisely deliver nuclear strike to major enemy cities like Delhi, and Mumbai etc.

But wait for @sharma1111 to come along and tell you how Shaheen-1A was imported by Pakistan from China and how Pakistan can't even produce steel pipes, let alone ballistic missiles

Shaheen-III and Shaheen-1A tested in last week. Interesting. Both missiles incorporate newer technologies and both weapon-systems are being tested by Pakistan's strategic institutions while indians keep crying "NO!!!! Pakistan SUCKS!!! This missile is CHINESE!!!!! UGHHHHH!!!!!"

What missile was doing over Karachi airport? Did it failed the test?

It probably wasn't exactly "over" karachi but in the sky, you can look at things flying even hundreds of miles away.

Regarding the bold part, I wouldn't know about it.

@Windjammer or @The Deterrent might be able to shed some light...

Which time they tested ? normally they test fire in morning time. Any video and pics ?

The successful test launch has been warmly appreciated by the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan who congratulated the scientists and engineers on achieving another outstanding milestone.

Last week, Pakistan conducted a successful test launch of the medium-range Shaheen-III surface-to-surface ballistic missile. The missile is capable of carrying nuclear and conventional warheads to a range of 2,750 km.

Earlier this year, a top adviser to its government, retired Lt Gen Khalid Kidwai had said Pakistan needs short-range “tactical” nuclear weapons to deter India, dismissing concerns it could increase the risk of a nuclear war.

Neither side discloses the size of its arsenal. But a report by the Council on Foreign Relations think tank estimated that Pakistan has enough fissile material to produce between 110 and 120 nuclear weapons, and India enough for 90 to 110 weapons.
