Pakistan, Russia ties in a big boom

. . .
The SuperJet has reliability issues. Has PIA improved its maintenance culture to protect against that? PIA pilots are great but they can only do so much if the plane has failures.

Something is on offer doesn't mean we are buying it, why people are deliberately ignoring the investments part ? or the strategic importance of a delegation that large to Visit Pakistan ?

Superjet mainly composed of EU/US parts.

Worry with Russian equipment is the access to spares. I hope we get tech transfers joing manufacturing and education and training for engineers as part of the package

Russians don't do tech transfers, they didn't even do that with India which has spent quite a few Billions on their weapons, so don't expect any tech transfers.

22 F-16 latest block as per well known news jouno Haroon Rasheed.

For God sake!!!!!!!!!!! when will PAF come out of this F16 fever?

I'm wondering if a pilot trained on Boeing or Airbus can they easily switch over to the Sukhoi?

We should offer Kamra facilities to them to manufacture the Sukhoi Superjet here at half the cost and then the jet will become very lucrative for ASEAN and other Asian countries.

It is perhaps the skeptic in me, but I do not know why all of a sudden Russia is taking such interest in Pakistan and US also claiming to send 15 trade delegations next year.

We might be a pawn in a great game which we cannot see at the moment.
Because we might be weak niw but we are potentially very powerful country. We are nuclear armed with a big armed forces. 7th biggest popukation most of them are young and on the top we are realizing fast about the past mistakes we did. India was worst then us in 90s but they set the direction roght and in 2 decades they saw the result. We are at the same moment and just need to be consistent.

Another aspect our geopolitical location. We are neighbouring 2 largest economies. Can significantly reduce travelling cost of both the economies links with middle east and central asia which will give further edge to china and india over current economic super power.

If Pakistan is considering buying even a limited number of attack helicopters from Russia, they should buy the Mi-28UB. Heavy armor, good for light enemy forces on the border.

Pakistan should try to buy the technology for the RD-93MA engine with all advanced made on it. It may not be the best engine, but it will jump start the foundation of an engine industry in Pakistan.

Does not suit our requirement. One of the key requirement is ability to fight high altitude war with service ceiling above 6,000 meters. Mi 28 is limited to 5,700 meters.

On the other hand viper exact ceiling is classified but it is higher than 6,000 meters. whereas T129 atak is 6,100. The adversary has HAL LCH with claimed ceiling of 6,500 meters (which i doubt) and has apache with ceiling of 6,400 meters. this will give them a distinctive advantage in Kargil. Infact if we don't have appropriate answer they have the capacity to literally slaughter our boys or at minimum cut-off the supply lines.

I agree we need systems that meet our requirement. If the only issue with the Mi-28UB is the lower service ceiling, it should be made clear to the Russians that we need a capability that at least matches that of the Apache; 6400 meters. They should see if they can develop modifications to their engine or air frame to set the ceiling requirement.

If that is met we should consider this bird. It can take more a beating and keep on kick’n with its heavier payload, then the lighter T-129.
