Pakistan replaces English with Urdu as official language

Multilingualism gives one an insight into a culture a way of thinking. In fact even different accents are often rich with cultural insights. One 'Major' disconnect that non native speakers have is finding the context which becomes often vivid when one interacts with native speakers. English while it offers some utility lacks that local nous and hence gives a fake vibe on people practicing out of place vernacular. The logic is best understood and most importantly imparted with local examples. This greatly impacts a growing mind particularly early teens who instead spend hours on end memorizing other wise gibberish. I say all politics and language is local. Perhaps people in the region will jettison the slave mentality in time which by the way allowed a non speaker control of pretty much a continent no less for over a century with minimal presence and investment.

It will be difficult to communicate with international world without english. English is necessary as all modren knowledge bank in growing rapidly in English not in Urdu. Therefore only English must be the official language in Pakistan.

Another aspect that many people ignore is the issue of scripts and the ease of using computer keyboards and online tools for Urdu compared to English. May be romanized Urdu like the Turkish model may be a better compromise?

guess what. Due to some dirty politics at top level at my head office, despite being a boss I was subjected to some office politics and they said you will script a current affairs program in Urdu. I said ok. I did so now I used to write down the script on paper scan the pages and sent to them along with voice overs and expert comments from different analysts for recording . Then after some times they said you will have to type and send us in soft copy, So i had to get it typed in Urdu through professional Urdu typists in inpage by paying . Now they said NO you have to type in Word file and not in inpage and you have to type in so and so Font

Now the twist was that the professional typists never had that software for typing in word file neither they had ever used that particular font. So I had to sit back curse myself for a while for ignoring Urdu keyboard as i never in my life ever used that. Then i said OK never mind and started self-learning and after two days i found the font and method to do it all by myself.

Now I can type in Pashto too

do you see a lot of Pakistani schools, colleges and universities teach Chinese? because in the UK, the Chinese trend is slowly starting to grow.

English Keyboard is very easy and speed is too much while Urdu one is bit slow rather dead slow when you start but once you start typing you become familiar with keys its wonderful experience.

However, the most dangerous thing in Urdu keyboard is, specially when you are in a country where there is blasphemy law, you may be extra careful with speed as I had experienced that while typing in speed there is a key which you press with shift and it types the sentence "PBUH" in Urdu. So I was so scared to imagine if this is done mistakenly and unknowingly while typing something else in speed what would be the outcome.

It is very very easy. easy enough to be learnt in just few hours also proofing and editing is easy.

I found Pashto typing more difficult to edit specially when you are working online.

First of all I feel Press TV got it wrong i think it is not replaced with Urdu but only PM or President or other officials will deliver speeches in Urdu abroad I guess.

In my personal opinion it is not going to replace English so easily not even in Government offices.

DO you know that the technical English language of official documents at Government offices in Pakistan is so difficult that even foreigners from native English speaking countries find it difficult to understand i have seen it myself that a EU official asked what is rota ? while reading from a KP government department's document on a project . This technical English is only understood by the experienced oldies in government offices.
