What's new

Pakistan raised $8.57 Billion so far to rebuild from last year's flood: Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb

. .
Of which $570 million will make it to actual flood victims and infrastructure rehabilitation.

$2 billion to be looted by PML(N) , 2 for PPP, 2 for facilitation by “institutions” and $2 billion lost in inefficient system and ancillary low level corruption

.
These Floods were done deliberately by the Generals and PDM to get Dollars from
allover the world but everyone knows their game after what they done in 2010
floods.

.
hopefully pakistan will out from crsis and more releif given to people.

We still have IMF and saudia package to come
This will delay the crisis and help us out for few months
Till then no reforms will take place and pmln will get a breather so they can save face
And call elections just before another crises

What relief for people? A week or two back, Fazul Rehman JUI-F was hosting an event, and the floor had UN Relief packing to provide some carpeting, etc.; I have a friend in Karachi saying many of the clothing being sent from overseas Pakistanis are being sold in the bazaars. It's not reaching the people properly.

It’s a good strategy although at a human cost
Don’t repair canals and or activate ttp
Hope it causes as much destructiveness n as possible
Then go and ask for aid
Spend a bit of in reconstruction and the rest can be used to buy mansions

Another way is to cause delayed justice and improper policing along with a tinch of inflation
Cause the citizens to immigrate
Have the remittance finance rent economy and import for costly products for which the nation itself has no money for, hence helping our upper middle class elites enjoy the worldly products without paying it by income tax/property tax/agriculture tax/retail tax

This model should be Islamabad school of economics similar to Chicago school of economics

"Development Minister Andrew Mitchell said it would be much easier for the world to help Pakistan "if Pakistani taxpayers are seen to be playing a core part in this effort".

Well said!
Pakistani people do give a lot to charity. Here the issue is why is there still standing water when the floods happened months ago. Seems like the government and local bodies and wadaras are letting the situation linger to either get more aid, or to force the poorest to sell their land out of desperation.
There were images of a perfectly useable road right next to the flooded land a couple of months back, meaning govt could bring in pumps without any hassle

.

Will now exports increase? inflation go down? gas will be available? import wheat?
So mostly loans how we will manage to payback?
These are pledges - 10.5billion was pledged during 2010 floods, only half of that was received.

But it’s a real shame it’s taken this long for the world to release humanitarian development funds - this has a lot to do with the risk of transparency and accountability that plagues Pakistan.

I mean he’s not wrong. If every Pakistani donated just 10 rupees you’d have 2.7 billion rupees right there. It’s all about ownership and also trust and accountability.

Are there any statistics regarding the number of registered tax payers in Pakistan and the average tax filing per annum?

.
Any of the money they get will just end up in the bank accounts of these Harami politicians. Pakistan needs a bloody revolution, that's the only option left.

Sadly Pakistan cannot afford a bloody revolution nor do the populace have the stomach for one.
