Pakistan orders shutdown of rights groups over "anti-state" activities in Punjab

I don't see why Israel shouldn't take this page from Pakistan's book and kick out anti-Israel NGOs for the same reasons.

On the other hand, it's completely irresponsible for the D.O. to cite nameless "higher Authorities" rather than the specific persons responsible. Without accountability why should this order be respected? Does it even have the force of law?
it has. read clearly it says ministry of interior.

A ministry is a faceless entity; a minister has a face and is accountable. There's no indication who, exactly, is responsible here. Nobody who could be punished for stepping outside of bounds or objectionable behavior. Therefore there is no accountability.

.
Why? Because the rule of law is important. Those who support the State to do whatever it wants without any accountability are the ones harming Pakistan.

Ah yes, the good old refuge of criminals and scoundrels - patriotism. :D

it is addressing only one single entity not all NGOs. so there must be some muddy waters on the part of this particular ngo. terming action against one ngo does not amount to action against all groups. Also you should be aware that DG Khan or for that matter South Punjab has many shades of militants so how on earth action against extremists and terrorists by law enforcements agencies become a violation of human rights.

it is not A ministry it is Interior ministry but since you are trying to find a bone in the boneless organ so let me explain howvit works here.
read the letter there is refference number as per rules of the official correspondence of any government departmen which is signed by the concerned official or minister of that department and sent to the relavent provincial authority. same here the commissioner received the same and now further correspondence and action is under his jurisdiction hence he issued the notice to this one NGO. there us no need to mention the name of the minister.

So because of the reference number the ministry can keep track of who signed the order but outside the ministry the party who the order targets can not. No one to appeal to either, right?

:what: are you naive enough not to understand or you just trying to pretend. when an official order is sent by the intetior ministry then it is the same ministry whom the party which is subjected to the order, will apeal to.

.
Yes shut them up, we can only have establishment sanctioned "rights" bodies like the reincarnations of Jamat ud Dawa and their ilk. Only Sectarian rights organisations are allowed here, and only those who are sanctioned by the official clergy. Rest conspiring heretics and deviants must be eliminated.

Am I correct that from the point of view of anyone outside the ministry there is no one in the ministry who takes personal responsibility for giving the order?

Wonderful initiative , we have been having too many rights / activist lately who have huge bank balances

If investigation proved the folks were disturbing peace , and social structure , proper measure
Makes sense to shut all the organizations that have following mandate

  • Use the terminology "South Asia" instead of Pakistan
  • Use the terminology Desi etc , instead of Pakistani Nationality
  • Other useless initiative like Aman ki asha etc , lock it down

any ministry when intervenes into something related to national security, it is always a team work which includes the monitoring, investigation, proper collection of material so why should one single person be responsible? but again in this case the private party must be knowing very well who's orders these were or who is the issuing authority so on earth you are losing your sleep over something which is not arguable?

.
Classified :usflag:
in other words, there is no evidence.

While I do think there are organizations being used as fronts for foreign intelligence (one only needs to look at history to prove this to be true), Pakistan must be careful not to confuse those that are legitimately working for betterment of people, and those that are manipulating innocent employees and volunteers, so they can further their own agendas.

Good Move

India should follow Pakistan and ban all Right-Groups indulging in anti state activities.

Indians whole heartedly support such moves either by Pakistan or any other country :enjoy:
