ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Health Services Dr Zafar Mirza said the government has decided not to repatriate Pakistani citizens stranded in China amid the fear of deadly disease outbreak in the country, ARY News reported on Thursday.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, the health advisor said that according to World Health Organization (WHO) and Chinese government’s policy, evacuating citizens from the affected areas is not recommended as it will cause the virus to spread.

No case of coronavirus has yet been reported in Pakistan. The government is fully prepared in combating the outbreak and is taking all possible measures to protect the citizens of Pakistan,” said Mirza.

He said Pakistan and China are continuously sharing information on the cases of coronavirus and mutual collaboration will help in controlling the outbreak.

Dr Zafar Mirza confirmed that four Pakistani students affected from coronavirus in China are being treated properly and recovering from the virus.

On the other hand, Aisha Farooqui, while addressing a weekly press briefing today, said the authorities have received reports of the delay of flight at Urumqi airport to carry the Pakistani nationals. She said that Pakistan has contacted Chinese officials in this regards.

“The authorities are ensuring the registration of all students in China. All students are in contact with the embassy after the coronavirus outbreak,” she added.

“We have asked those nationals to contact the embassy in China who were not registered to the database. The administration officers in the universities have also raised the issue of food supplies.”

“Evacuation is not made by any country for its citizens in China. The Pakistani government will take all steps for Pakistanis residing in China

what needs to happen is those stranded need to be kept in contact with to be reassured that things will be ok. BUT they will have to remain in quarantine until they have a safe bill of health.

Bring them home so chances of the virus spreading can increase neither the Chinese that stupid to let that happen neither are people in Pakistan.

Forget about lacking, Pakistan doesn't have any facilities to treat such virus. Imagine if it started multiplying in Pakistan. Both Pakistanis residing in China as well as Pakistanis in Pakistan will suffer.

I agree with @razgriz19 that at least in China they will be treated.

.
There is no way we should evacuate ... they are very well treated and quarantined in China.... bring them to Pakistan and they will infect countless others

.
Chinese Government is doing well to screen and making sure appropriate services are provided. Evacuating is taking unnecessary risk, it will be hard to control if the outbreak reaches here.

He's absolutely right, there are several reasons for this:

1. n-COV 2019 is asymptomatic as proved by leading expert:

2. The risk of further contamination is greater with repatriation

3. Approx 28,023 Pakistani students are living and studying in various parts of China, the logistics of getting them repatriated will be immense.

4. Sterilisation and Isolation: Every contact leaves a trace, hence the students, luggage, the bus the sit on, the aircraft the fly on, the crew that fly with them, the bus they get on when in Pakistan, the handlers that off load their luggage, the rooms they stay in, everything carries a chance of cross-infection and not just that, hygiene practice is very poor in Pakistan this would compound the headache for public health officials in Pakistan.

^ If the patients are transported in Ambulances, then the driver and crew will need to wear PPE, each crew member will need to be tested and isolated, and EACH ambulance will need to be decontaminated prior to going back into general population.

5. We lack the facilities to test for any infection locally (we were promised the quick test kits would come in 2 weeks, but there is a global shortage).

They are better off in China for now!

I don’t understand the level of hysteria, sure it’s a deadly virus that leaves people hospitalised and is particularly bad for immune compromised and elderly patients. But this thing has a fairly low mortality rate overall.

Flu kills multitudes more people every year in China alone, yet no one cares enough about influenza to follow basic hygiene protocols. Yet here people are in a panic. As if they’re all going to die unless evacuated.

The flu is curable....this virus is not....so far...

It also has a high incubation period during which it is undetected and can pass onto others.

The death rate is higher, as a % of diagnosed, than flu and other diseases which is why you see so much hysteria.

.
Good brotherly act from Pakistan ... Pakistan has yet again proven Pakistan is iron brother of China...
China should be thankful for this act by Pakistan and give additional CPEC package for Pakistan...

.
Because unlike flu or influenza we dont have a vaccine or defined treatment for this virus which is mutating.

What is the source for this virus mutating?

This virus will be cured too. If not then it is a bigger problem than bringing these people back to Pakistan. What does a 'high incubation period' mean? The 'death rate' might be higher but the number of people who get the flu is significantly higher than this so far.

It's hard to find a cure for a disease that just came out...

The disease also has room to mutate. Incubation period for anything means the time it takes for it to mature....the virus has a high incubation time during which it is undetectable so far and can spread to others.

Meaning, a suspect can have the virus and not show the symptoms until day 15-25.......during which the virus can also spread to others and restart the whole process.

Which is why the whole city is in lockdown....the first patients started appearing in November/December if I'm not wrong and this is the end of January...

The death rate as a % of the people who get this disease is really high....I think only 1% or less of the people that get the flu die....the number that die from the flu is still high because of how many get it but the % is low because it is curable.

This virus isn't curable, has a high incubation rate during which it is undetectable & has a higher rate of death for those infected...all these 3 parameters and more make it very deadly and which is why the CCP has taken such steps like locking down a whole city and more...

Also why there's so much hysteria around the virus.

What is the source for this virus mutating?

All things mutate over time in their environments...viruses take a shorter amount of time to mutate because they reproduce so fast....each reproduction has a chance for a new mutation to appear because of how DNA & RNA works...and any mutation that helps keep the virus alive or spread it faster is the one that gets to live and reproduce.

I don't want to go much into bio...but below is a article which explain the whole thing to you if you have a basic understanding of biology.

. .
And that is exactly how it should be. Standard medical practice and islamic practice is. When a biohazard occurs in a city you neither leave the city nor do you enter that city till the hazard is gone. As taught by All Prophets of Quran especially Mohammad PBUH

So no one leaves no one enters. It will all be good soon just make sure people and loved ones in those cities have plenty of food and masks.

A very good decision. Now as far as the hysteria is concerned, it is being deliberately encouraged by the West. Not only does it damages China economically and reputation wise, it encourages discrimination against the Chinese people. In fact, already in some Western countries, they are demanding to put a ban on Chinese tourists and also lock away children of Chinese citizens in those countries.

I am bit disappointed that people are not understanding the real game. Ask yourselves this simple question - how come this disease spread all of a sudden specifically after China's "Trade Deal" with the US?? Someone has sold the interest of the Chinese people to Vultures.
