Pakistan needs to replace China with Russia

Is it time to replace China with Russia?

No doubt China has given us many technologies and weapon systems but they don't to it for the love of Pakistan rather to confront India.

Even if Pakistan does not buy any weapons from China, they will still consider India as their rival & enemy. So they is no risk of China selling any weapons to India.

On the other hand, Russia had been selling weapons to India for many decades now but this relationship is very weak today thanks to Modi who is anti-Russia. Today, Modi's India is primarily buying weapons from the US.

Hence, Pakistan buying weapons from Russia instead of China would break the Russia-India relationship permanently and we could get advanced weapons systems from Russia.
This logic is extremely flawed. Pakistan can never match India in terms of weapons purchases from Russia due to the sheer size of India's economy in absolute terms and relative to India. And besides, even if Pakistan dumped all weapons from China and bought all Russian weapons, India would probably just increase their purchases of Russian weapons to counteract this surge. So in conclusion if Pakistan did this, their relationship with China would deterioriate with no noticeable change in attitude from Russia towards India.

China has no choice but to support Pakistan. China will never support India. So there is no risk to the China-Pakistan relationship by the act of Pakistan buying weapons from Russia.
Unfortunately Pakistan needs China considerably more than vice versa. Just look at the depth of Chinese economic involvement in Pakistan, do you think such an act would go unnoticed by Beijing? And just from a pure weaponry standpoint, Chinese deals are far more favorable than Russian ones from a cost-benefit standpoint, so this would be a hard sell either way. Just ask the Indians about their experiences with many Russian systems.

It does not matter how big is Indian defence budget as most of that money is being spent on US & French weapons.

Today, Pakistan can easily spend more money than India on Russian weapons.

China has no option but to support Pakistan. India is China's enemy.

We will still partner with China on economic projects like CPEC.

Modi is anti Russia?

Will it make you happy if I say he is pro-US?

No Pakistan cannot spend more money on Russian weapons than India. Just look at the size of India's defense budget vs Pakistan ... even with the additional purchases of foreign vendors there is still ample room for them to purchase a bunch of Russian weaponry at inflated prices.

China would probably view this as a slap in the face to discontinue this military partnership and probably back out of some CPEC projects or refuse to help Pakistan on an international stage. Or even worse for Pakistan, China could try and improve relations with India, further isolating Pakistan ... I honestly do think if China wanted to they could substantially improve relations with India quite quickly.

China's textile export is more than hundred billion usd each year. They are not really interested in making money selling weapons. Currently, relations between Russia and China are very good. If Pakistan buys Russian weapons, China will support that.

If you talk about the attitude in the relationship between the two countries, then I agree. Thoughts like "China has no choice but to support Pakistan" are very dangerous.

Yes. We can. Today, India spends a few billion to buy spares for their old Russian weapons. Most of their new weapons budget goes towards US and France. In future India's spend on Russia weapons will drastically reduce as they start retiring their MIGs & SU-30s.

China needs Pakistan's CPEC and Gwadar port to bypass malacca straits. It is not the other way around.

No one pushes you to buy Chinese weapons, and the cooperation between China and Pakistan is win-win.

Pakistan can buy Su-35, Mig-35, Su-57, S-400, and so on from Russia at any time.

Without the orders of FC-1/JF-17, Type 054A/P, and so on from Pakistan, it is still fine to China, as China's military industry can get enough orders from PLA.

China just provides one more option to Pakistan, and Pakistan just chooses what Pakistan needs. That's all.

If other countries can provide better choices, I don't think Pakistan would refuse.

What exactly are you smoking? China has always been a reliable partner while russis finicky at best...on top of that, russian tech is unreliable & inferior to China's tech.

SAM systems are now arguable after Russian performance in Syria.

The other two, China is ahead of ahead of Russia, let alone the West.

btw You aware that only China can provide the trio of economic/military and strategic support that Pakistan needs at this time?
The things you mermaids can not understand that it is not 1971 After half a century Pakistan is a nuclear country.... with 0.8 million Battle hardened army against terrorism, 200 4th gen aircraft and 150+ mirages(also nuclear capable)....The only problem is the economy but it is soon solved as the CPEC started....we do not need any strategic support....on the other hand a single typhoon class russian submarine weights in tons more than your entire naval fleet....Even a single US aircraft carrier contain more fighter jets than BAF....

How about we make Pakistan the next China or Russia?

That's certainly what Baba e qoum and Alam e Iqbal imagined.

But that will actually require spending on education instead of filling your bank accounts and starving the nation with wheat and sugar to earn a cheap dime.

Anyhow, Russia is history and i doubt they will ever forget what we did to them back when. Not an easy thing to forget lol
