and what the hell... we should also look into indigenous helis... we got the mind and muscle to do it... just like JF-17

:):)
Few corrections
1-we need um baldy by the masses (Pakistan did recently acquired some more Cobras from US and like i said we dont need hundreds of them, just somewhere 25-40)
2-i think they use a chinese model which is a licensed copy of the eurocopter (Thats Z9C which resembles dolphin -french- Z10 resembles Eurocopter)
3-we should also look into indigenous helis (would you build a whole factory for a some 100 pieces of output?)

To have a real indengious helicopter programme (of 100% PAKISTANI ORGIN) you need to invest in the INDUSTRIAL BASE first.

Workshops, labs, technicians, wind tunnels etc.

I would imagine license production of a foreign type will be quicker intially

Has there been any Pakistani attempt to build attack choppers of their own?

Sigh.......after reading your posts, I have realized how big a blessing sanity is......there is an old saying...Spend wisely....I guess PA will do just that.....

wasting money on manufacturing helis is a crazy idea for a country like pakistan.in a full scale war helis will never be ur front line equipment, they will always be an accessory having little benefits.

T-129 is less than 10% turkish. its actually italian.

we should go for our own attack helicopter. no dependence on others.

It is needed to be given some information about Turkish contribution for T-129 Atak...

Main Contactor: TAI
Subcontactors: Aselsan, Agusta-Westland
Base Platform: A-129 Internaional fuselage characteristics
R&D: ATAK installations in Italy-Turkey (TAI and Agusta engineers collaboration)

Fuselage Main source: TAI
Rotors: TAI
Transmissions and Hydraulics sections : With Latest arrangements, Those critical systems have also included into Turkish shares ( ALPAviation or TEI )
Engine: TEI (Under Licence)
Avionics: Aselsan
Communication Devices: Aselsan
Mission Computer: Aselsan
HMDU: Aselsan
Electronic WArfare Self Protection and Jamming systems: Aselsan
Main AT Missiles: Roketsan
2.75 Inch Laser Guided Missiles: Roketsan

With all those I think Turkish Contribution for T-129 Atak is over %70...

What is the price of T129 compared to other Attach Helo in market

I think it's the MI 28 or Apache block 3s(most likely getting) that Pakistan needs to worry, not the LCH. Right now the order is only 22 apaches, but it may go up. Those are the heavy calvary..

Right now India lacks much attack helicopters too.

I have been hearing about Pakistan getting AgustaWestland T-129 for some time now.. What's the new development on that?

I don't think anything is going to happen on this front - and actually I hope it does not - it would be a mistake to once again leave Pakistan vulnerable, in the sense that as far as relations with the West are concerned, Pakistan is in for a very rocky ride indeed - and therefore it may be better to develop institutional know how, with or without the help of friends.

I do agree that Pakistan need this capability, not so much to deter the Indian, but any adversary or enemy, of course, the primary enemy is the Islamist insurgency and there is the possibility that this insurgency may last another 5 to 7 years, some even think that's optimistic and that it may last longer.

Nah, the insurgency has 2 or 3 years at maximum left, but the aftermath fallout could be much larger.

There were reports we were in for the AH-1Z Zulu cobra once it is available for export in 2012, but seeing the US-PAK relations at the moment, it does seem far off. T-129 or the WZ-10 are the realistic options. Rooivalk is also one option.

But, for the next 2 or 3 years, we are fine.

crashes are bound to happen when you are building something new.Nothing out of the World here...

First gold rule to understand What you are telling in here is to develop something usefull with your own engineers in your own installations at first. The nations earning their futures from some rich unions without developing-producing anything, can not understand what you are talking. Now a days, Although This nation paid the price for their own backward mentality, They do not avoid to make fun of other's industrial development projects...
