What's new

Pakistan Navy has 2 new Swiftship corvettes on order

These ships will be a great addition to PN, never mind the dumb and silly comments made here. PN has to work with what it can with 2- opv's and 2 swiftships will be a great addition take that to the bank.

For Darab Missile this is exactly what we need and just install Darab Coast defence missiles in this platform

This is exactly what we need as a launcher platform for coastal defense strategy

Sir,

1. One missile/strike will take out the whole system.
2. If one is spotted, other 3 will be targeted also.
3. Putting all 4 systems in one place is making the system less efficient. Putting 4 launchers at four different places will make it more efficient in terms of coverage area.
4. You can still give concentrated fire power.

Flip side:
1. Will need more operators to manage separate launchers.
2. Will need to send ammo at 4 different places instead of one to fill up launchers.

.
I am firm believer in launching all Missiles at any threat

Memo for accidental launch can be sent later

This is a US FMS aided purchase through Lockheed Martin. SWIFTSHIPS has been contracted by Lockheed Martin who is selling these boats to Pakistan under the Foreign Military Sales program. Unfortunately under FMS you cannot buy any non-US made boats and fortunately perhaps, they have also recently hired some help from the Naval HQ as well http://swiftships.com/about-us/team-middle-east/capt-hashim-raza/

Since the PMSA is getting Chinese MPVs, I guess they're not going to revisit the GRC43 cutters... ?

Problem was that NONE of the other US major Shipyards were ready to consider Pakistan Navy's request (since 2015) to build a 75m plus Corvette. I don't know how and why Swiftships agreed (perhaps the twin Pakistan origin owners felt sorry). So lets see how this pans out in coming years.

I have seen this and a few more, but again it's a small river patrol boat with maybe a 100 knot range, it's nothing special (especially in the very limited numbers we'll get it), it's not war fighting machine and doesn't add any offensive/defensive capability to the PN
This has the capability to be remotely controlled, so either this is a test order, or something along these lines "indigenously" might pop up. So lets wait and see.

It has some pretty impressive specs btw:

"Swiftships’ Anaconda is a Special Operation Craft Riverine (SOCR). It’s a diesel powered, hard chine, and modified V hull form, all-aluminum craft with twin water jet propulsions. It is designed to operate in both salt and fresh water and to be fully operational in Sea State 2 and survive in Sea State 4. The Anaconda is foam filled and will remain afloat even if holed. The craft is capable of operating in tropical regions with assured top performance in air temperatures up to 125° Fahrenheit. This craft has an optional trailer, optional truck, and may be transported through military aircraft or helo-lifted.

With the + 50 knots speed, extreme maneuverability, and survivability, the Anaconda is the ideal platform to serve as command and control, armed escort, direct fire support, troop transport, pursuit/intercept, scout, and patrol craft, both in a riverine environment and for the defense of harbors and off shore installations. It can transport, insert, and extract 6-14 combat loaded troops, excluding crew members. The Anaconda provides five (5) foundations for gun mounts (2 forward, 2 amidships and 1 aft) compatible with MK19 for heavy MG. This craft has a low profile suitable for ready concealment along riverbanks. All masts, staffs, overhead devices, and antennae are hinged for stowage or ease of transport. The Anaconda has an advanced design bow ramp for cargo or personnel and removable/collapsible seating. There is an option of using covers to provide protection for the crew and troops from sun and rain. With the optional advanced electronics package, this vessel is capable of operating using remote controlled technology.

Specifications can be modified in accordance to the operator’s preferences and needs."

Anything is good, but going for deceitful Yankee hardware don't make no sense. I wonder with how many strings this will come. Bad choice.

No. One operator, can remotely manage multiple sites.

Its an impractical MLRS.
And your hypothesis is based on......?

It could also be Lockheed Martin throwing its weight (to convince Swiftships and securing any risk for them).

It appears no one else purchased Swiftships 75m Swift corvette or the previously offered 75m OPV.

Its a big target, bulky slow.. need alot of time for preping... and limited mobility.

I case of a strike.. it has limited chances of survival...1 arty round or strike and there goes the entire MLRS..

Instead 12 Tube launchers offer more capability, survival chances and much more... U get it right.

When a threat approaches too close all missiles are launched simple
