i googled and found no destroyers. Thats why I asked the question since the thread title mentions destroyers.

As googling PN and Navy would have turned up, PN used to operate e.g. ex-USN Gearing class ships and ex-UK County class ship. In their day, these were classified destroyers. Is there a problem with that?

Of 98 Gearings built for USN, many were sold to the navies of Argentina, Brazil, Greece, Ecuador, Iran, Mexico, Pakistan, South Korea, Spain, Taiwan, Turkey and Uruguay, and served through the 1990s.

HMS London was sold to Pakistan on 23 March 1982 and renamed Babur. Babur was decommissioned from Pakistani service in 1993 and was sold for scrap in 1995.

20 Frigates with Nuclear tip missile or 1 Destroyer , I think we are doing just fine .. just fine

And thank you for telling us we have no destroyers because then all of our enemy forces would focus on 1 destroyer if we had one , with 20-30 frigates , we have better chance for fight back

I never said anything about having just 1 destroyer. You are allowed to have more than one. Also, I have another question, does PN really have 20-30 frigates as you are claiming??

I never said anything about having just 1 destroyer. You are allowed to have more than one. Also, I have another question, does PN really have 20-30 frigates as you are claiming??

11 by current inventory if I am correct, six of them(OLD type21s) close to retirement and 4 on order(F22P) plus another 4 OHps expected in 2013--2014(depending on US leanings at the time).If all goes well we will have 13 in 2014-15.

If I am not wrong, Pakistan is building one more port other than Karachi and probably it is in advanced stage. But I think PN should stop using old models frigates which has been retired from US,UK, China or Soviet navy. It's good news that they will be starting inducting F22 frigates from 2015 onwards. But they must also seek building these ships at their own shipyard atleast 30% to 40% of the total work. It will not only help them gain experience but also build their required infrastructure.

I had specifically asked if PN operates any destroyers currently and still the member rudely replied with only the name of a past destroyer. And another thing, please don't try to threaten by using the words "it can get u on the radar of the people you don't want to meet." This is just an internet forum, you pakistanis can do nothing more than banning me. If you believe otherwise, you can continue to live in your delusions.
