Pakistan Navy forces out an armed Indian Submarine from Pakistani waters.

.
I had some questions regarding this whole episode and after going through 45 pages of mind numbing trolling they were not answered so here i am requesting some senior and technically knowledged member to answer them.

1. Was the sub detected under water or only when it was surfaced?
2. Was the sub forced to surface by PN or did it have to surface due to some technical problem/ usual need.
3. Was the sub really at a place where PN could have destroyed it i.e was it actually trespassing?
4. Did PN have capability to destroy the sub.
5. If yes then did PN have the opportunity to destroy the sub.

I know that a sub detected is a sub destroyed, it is kind of like having a "missile lock on" in air force terms.

.
There are ASW tactics to push Sub to surface or periscope depth. PN may have pinged it to come on surface.
Might be, but I am more inclined to it simply needing to snorkel due to its wish to extend its range and/or bad batteries. It simply was caught at the wrong time.. it was snorkelling, its diesel was picked up from a distance and our ship reacted.
The 209 is simply incapable of transiting on batteries for a long time from what I gather unlike the AIPs and in this case a ship having undergone a refit back in the mid 90's is probably not with the best of battery performance.

Where is our resident merman @Penguin ? Your thoughts?

The images suggested that it was monitoring situation due to PN activity it don't look like snorkel to me.

Edit.

PN would have been justified in sinking the submarine if it could prove beyond doubt that this vessel was directly related to a security threat to Pakistan such as inserting terrorists or laying mines. Eavesdropping with remote sensors is not a good enough reason to sink a foreign vessel in international waters in times of peace.

This is Type-209.

They should have shot and sunk it so that like not claiming the dead on LoC, the Indian Navy would hav denied a los sub at sea as well. These IN underwater Cadets were hovering to mark the sea lanes and PN tactics to protect the CPEC ships route. Recent departure of goods from Gwadar without a sabotage incident proved too much for that self praising Doval guy. With all other land routes choked to send in RAW cadets, the Indian. Government has now hired the IN to do its nefarious tasking. Does not seem to be working so far

.
Acoustic signature is the noise that a submarine makes while it is moving or at rest---the noise maybe running machinery / prop or propulsion drive etc---. And each submarine have their own unique noise---.

The recording of this subs acoustic signature would be transferred to every naval ship and aircraft of the pak navy ( and maybe another navy ) and when ever that sound is heard by the sensors in those ships and aircraft---it will show the presence of that submarine in the arena----then they will Ping it ruthlessly.
Even with a good amount of acoustics data,detection ranges are less than 10 km's in Littoral waters with a towed hydrophone.So it's not really helpful until you are chasing or looking for someone.

.
So what is pakistani logic? take photo of a sub transiting on surface as per convention and boast about chasing it?

Why are you discounting the possibility that the sub was simply following UNCLOS which requires all subs to surface while transiting foreign EEZ?

can you support your claim .... do you have the the official transit route of that submarine with you ....???

& like old indian habit of distorting the law & give new interpretations according to their likeness .... you are repeating your idiotic mantra agin n again ... have you even took any reference from UNCLOS .... plz check it again ...

The idiocy which you are posting about the submarines are required to come to surface under UNCLOS is necessary only under PART II. TERRITORIAL SEA AND CONTIGUOUS ZONE & Article 20 deals with it

Even if for sake of argument if one accepts your argument of transit passage In EEZ & Continental shelf Part III section-2 of UNCLOS is applicable and Article-39 the deals with the duties of ships transiting which states

Duties of ships and aircraft during transit passage

1. Ships and aircraft, while exercising the right of transit passage, shall:

(a) proceed without delay through or over the strait;

(b) refrain from any threat or use of force against the sovereignty, territorial integrity or political independence of States bordering the strait, or in any other manner in violation of the principles of international law embodied in the Charter of the United Nations;

(c) refrain from any activities other than those incident to their normal modes of continuous and expeditious transit unless rendered necessary by force majeure or by distress;

(d) comply with other relevant provisions of this Part.

what the hell Indian armed submarine was doing near Pakistan's sea for 4 days .... ??
Indian armed submarine was not a threat to Pakistan .... ???

SO STOP THIS BULLSHIT.....

German U209 operated by 16 countries.Tell me ,how you call thia is an Indian Sub? Also U209 are attached to eastern command while Western operates Kilo and Akula sometimes.
The so called U209 also operated by Turkish. Tomorrow Indians will post a IR video of F16 being repelled while we used Singaporean F16 for this game.

Funny part is, Indian Army is calling it a lie and saying that it must be a submarine of some other country not theirs.

With such ridiculous statements, they are undermining the creditability of their own official statements thus further proving the fact that how much they lied and framed their infamous surgical strike fiasco. I believe deep down their hearts, many Indians have started realizing as well.

. .
There is no mention of this incidence in Indian media.

If this incidence is true, then I have no doubt that Indian submarines are regularly spying in Pakistani waters and this was one incidence where it got caught.
what about PN submarines ?
