Might be, but I am more inclined to it simply needing to snorkel due to its wish to extend its range and/or bad batteries. It simply was caught at the wrong time.. it was snorkelling, its diesel was picked up from a distance and our ship reacted. There are ASW tactics to push Sub to surface or periscope depth. PN may have pinged it to come on surface.
India nuclear sub is too noisy but it's a first attempt by Indians to build a nuclear sub. So it understandable.

The 209 is simply incapable of transiting on batteries for a long time from what I gather unlike the AIPs and in this case a ship having undergone a refit back in the mid 90's is probably not with the best of battery performance.
Where is our resident merman @Penguin ? Your thoughts?
I had some questions regarding this whole episode .....
3. Was the sub really at a place where PN could have destroyed it i.e was it actually trespassing?
4. Did PN have capability to destroy the sub.
5. If yes then did PN have the opportunity to destroy the sub.
I know that a sub detected is a sub destroyed, it is kind of like having a "missile lock on" in air force terms.
Even with a good amount of acoustics data, detection ranges are less than 10 km's in Littoral waters with a towed hydrophone. So it's not really helpful until you are chasing or looking for someone.Acoustic signature is the noise that a submarine makes while it is moving or at rest---the noise maybe running machinery / prop or propulsion drive etc---. And each submarine have their own unique noise---.
The recording of this subs acoustic signature would be transferred to every naval ship and aircraft of the pak navy ( and maybe another navy ) and when ever that sound is heard by the sensors in those ships and aircraft---it will show the presence of that submarine in the arena----then they will Ping it ruthlessly.
So what is pakistani logic? take photo of a sub transiting on surface as per convention and boast about chasing it?
Why are you discounting the possibility that the sub was simply following UNCLOS which requires all subs to surface while transiting foreign EEZ?
German U209 operated by 16 countries.Tell me ,how you call thia is an Indian Sub?
what about PN submarines ?There is no mention of this incidence in Indian media.
If this incidence is true, then I have no doubt that Indian submarines are regularly spying in Pakistani waters and this was one incidence where it got caught.
