Pakistan, Iran become 'natural allies'

I believe we need to try and maintain good relations with all of our neighbours. Iranians are good people but they will obviously think about there own interests first just like any other nation. We Pakistanis tend to get over excited with our Pan Islamist feelings. Yes having a common religion definitely helps in bolstering our relationships but we shouldnt assume that all Muslim countries will blindly aid us because we follow the same religion.

There is a huge potential here, nothing like a muslim neighbour being a 'real' friend. It was PPP's Bhutto who envisioned the dream of establishing close contacts with Libya, KSA & others.

But, here with Iran, KSA & USA will both dissuade us but we must promote the relations for sake of our economic & startegic interest. There is a lot undiscovered here...

KSA is leaded by bad poeple like also Pakistan have leaded by bad politics but iranian government is more better then us and then arabians but we cant say anything against KSA only for bad leader they have KSA had alwys gud relations with Pakistan and i hope we alwys have gud relations with saudi brothers and we also whant gud relations with IRANIAN brothers.

But Iranians and Saudis dont get along so we need to stay in the middle and not take any sides, all we can do is just try and make them get over their differences.

U r right we should be in the middle and try to make peace between them btw it is not only saudies who have problems with iranians. Long time ago during my univercity days in the states we used to gather and play a sport arabs and iranians used to particpate with us none of the arabs was from saudia and almost daily they used to argue a lot and i had to be the middle man. At every word or a move each group think the other tried to score a point over him.

Both KSA and Iran are religious tyrannies - lets be true to ourselves and admit this truth - Iran is an ancient civilization and it deserves better than what it has - and Pakistanis have long experience with both but of course because of the geographical contiguity, the transmission of culture and language and people between Iran and us has been deeper and historical, but again, lets admit that we wish both the peoples well - with that said, Pakistan is a multireligious, multicultural, multiethnic country - Pakistan is a huge Sunni Muslim majority country and it is also the second largest Shi'ah Muslim country and as such we have a responsibility to speak truth to these religious tyrannies --- the competition between these two has been disastrous for Muslims - these religious tyrannies do not represent any truth of any Muslims, all they represent is the vindictiveness and crudeness of imagining that the majesty of Islam can be chained, harnessed as if it were a beast of burden--it's our responsibility to tell them that they may not use Islam as a tool of political competition and to help them come to their senses, yes it is true that foreign powers are behind this but we can help both and in doing so help ourselves.

They are tyrannise but saudia is the worst, why eastern pakistanis have tolerance and love of arabs is that they feel they are the children of muhammad bin qasim, who invaded sindh and liberated them.

I personally think bin qasim didn't achieve anything compared to likes of ghaznavi, ghuri and other great central asian turco iranic people, who have achieved what arabs and bin qasim can only dream of.

Arabs have no ethics or morals, forget islam for a minute and before that they were illiterate, uncivilised, desert dwellers who had no culture or heritage, how can you even compare them to iran and its people.

Every had different experience with Iranians and Arabs. Iranians are very nice with Pakistanis.. at least they were with me ;). Yusuf I don't think Iranians (some of them) r very fond of Balochis though and neither they are fond of Afghans. Many Arabs who r born n raised in USA or at least the ones I met r very nice too... But I have heard horrible stories from some Pakistanis that Arabs treat them badly in Gulf countries. Although, personally I didn't have any bad experience with them.

I would have to disagree with you there. Iranians can be extremely hostile towards Pakistanis and so are Arabs. I've experienced it from both. Amazing how they get nuclear tech from Pakistan and pretend they invented it themselves. Some pro-monarchist Iranians are pro-Pakistan due to the Shah's "Aryan brotherhood" policies but overall they have nothing but contempt for Pakistanis. There are also sadly many Turkish liberals who badmouth Pakistanis but thankfully they are a small minority. Turks in general don't bother Pakistanis....but regardless I think we Pakistanis should keep a distance from the Middle Eastern peoples...
