Please I refrain from saying that word. I merely used the term isolation

Anyway, keep on, i dont really have a horse in this race anyway....expect when india is mentioned;)

I request PAkistani shias, pro-Iranis and anti-Saudis, to put their money where their mouth is, they should boycott Saudi jobs and Pakistani products saudi invested in, Pakistani shias working their, what u are engaged in is actually hilarious and hypocrisy. This propaganda is not going to help you. You can make stupid excuses but putting the barrel of a gun on the shoulder of Pakistan state to shoot Saudis is going to make all Pakistan suffer. PAkistani remittances from Saudia Arabia is the largest $5.9 billion plus [FY16;source SBP] UAE $4.3 billion [FY16] out of $19.6 billion remittances
Pakistan received, these 2 nations are leading IMAFT and PAkistan has to come to these allies aid who have stood with us, funded our military and other projects. Stodwith us on diplomatic issues like Kashmir unlike IRan who backstabbed Pakistan in OIC 1995 KAshmir resolution. Iran since 1979 IS NOT Pakistan's FRIEND. PAkistani shias are themselves treated in a sick manner there and have zero leverage on IRanian got. when it comjes to Pakistan but are hell bent upon destroying PAkistan's relationships.

@Starlord

Google Suqoor II PAk Air Force -Royal Saudi AF joint exercises, Saudi wherever can accomodate Pakistan even sometimes against the wishes of Americans. What has iran done with Pakistan apart from blaming PAkistan for their Baloch militancy issues and funding religious services in Pakistani cities?

@BHarwana

@Imad.Khan PAkistani sunnis are not like shias that are hell bent on defending a holy vulnerable country like IRan that bleeds us thru stationing RAWagents and Baloch gang leaders uzair baloch. Hejaz has holy sites and to defend them from people like u or any other liberal is compulsory. PAkistan relations with Saudi Arabia are interest-based, with a brother who helped not sectarian like iran

Please avoid Tagging me in your posts if you want to post about this Shia Sunni BS .. you are pro Sunni we get it ,m but the topic is different ...

I agree with you to most extent, dear but you should trust your men in uniform...We have decades of experienceWe'll handle it...If Pakistan gets involved, China gets involved, If China gets involved, Russians will come...And this mess will eventually be sorted out...Bone in kebab will be thrown out eventually.

I trust the Front line soldier who follow the orders of these Lazy Generals .. Bajwa is becoming another Kiyani , and that is what i am afraid of

My only concern from this arrangement is, that what if a third party try to harm Pakistani personal while being deployed there and the snowball effect it would have at home. I am certain that third parties like America, Israel and India would try to bring causalities to Pakistani deployment and then at home there is no doubt will be calls for revenge, and then you have a situation where "defensive" posture, become a full fledged "offensive" one, and we find ourselves sucked in.

We need to tread very carefully here. Its a catch-22 situation no doubt.
No risks no gains..

.
I hope the news is false. Becuase, lets face facts if we are on the border; even if we don't move in, we are in deep do do. So what happens if a missile strike kills Pakistani troops? I can assure you there will be such an outcry back home and calls for revenge, the Army will have no choice but to launch heavy counter strikes. Which will undoubtedly kill Iranian proxies; which leaves us back to being anti-Iran as we did not want to be in Spring 2015.

Not.Good.At.All.
So, you meant to say that they(Houthi/Iranian) can kill our soldiers and we dont have any rights to strike back or respond their attack..

. . .
No risks no gains..

Indeed.

But my brother, we have to do the war gaming and explore all possibilities and their consequences. I would rather see my men as peace keepers or atleast, a buffer force between the Saudis and Houtis to keep them apart from each other for the sake of peace. The Ummah got bigger enemies staring at us, the hannud, nasara and Yahud, and at this time, our energies and focus should be on them.

What is the end game?
point defense?

A brigade strength of ~ 3500 troops incl artillery, armored supporting elements.
To defend troops have to make offesive moves too? And go inside Yemen.

IMO, bigger problem will be to cutoff supplies from Gulf of Aden.
Pak have to assume full command to devise a coherent response. Take Command of KSA and Omani naval assets to block supplies from Gulf of Aden . Iran must have been sending S2S missiles and other ammunition.
US has their Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti. Can They be engaged to watch around Gulf of Aden?

I will agree with you that we should protect Saudia but what Saudia is doing in Yemen it is against humanity. Yemen is the country of houthies and not Saudis, so houthis have every right to fight for Yemen and killing civilian population and denying that population of food and basic necessities is not what Muslims do. I want Pakistani troops to protect Mecca but I also want the of atrocities of Saudis in Yemen to end. Saudis are not justified in the war in Yemen.
Saudis are quiet justified, it is iranian who drip their dirty nose all over ME.
Yes to protect civilians.
It is a sad fratricide war, blame solely on Iran.

Persians know Pak folks are no push overs and have ability to beat them in mind games. They'll show restraint. IMO, it's win-win-win... from all quarters (strong foothold on KSA/GCC, CPEC, anti Indian isolation game, USA factors etc.). I am pretty sure all the relevant folks are on the boards, and Pak is playing the balancing game as usual. I can't rule out the US backing and taking help from Pak once again!!!! No wonder top generals are singing praise like canaries!!!! Please ask for something other than F16s this time for a change!!!!!

Hi,

As I had stated awhile ago--Yemen was the moment of similar history making moment for Pakistan as that of east india company when they signed up some Maharajas in a military alliance to provide them protection in form of military force in case of an invasion.

Understanding the significance and importance of the issue---that is where Gen Raheel missed the boat 2 years ago---.

His simplicity of thought and mind got the better of him as a true visionary general who could visualize what would be happening in the future---pounce at the opportunity provided to him in the present to get the dividends in the coming years.

What had been done in our tribal belt---is the job of a corps commander level officer---and not that of a commander in chief---.

We will end up doing the same job for saudia---but with 40-50000 lost jobs---no special benefits for pakistani expats---and for far lesser funds than originally envisaged---you ask why---because the General Sahib says---' he could not comprehend the true picture two years ago '---.

Can you imagine---150 K pakistani troops in the GGC---including an air battle and a naval battle group---with a multiple Brigade strength + force available at a moments notice for any hot spots in the sub sahara and central africa---that would have been the moment of truth for the existence of pakistan when it would have discovered its true calling---Enforcer of peace and military leader of the region---.

Destinies of civilizations are built upon expanding their area of military influence and dominance in the region and beyond---and here we have pakistanis moaning and bit-ching about ' our ' soldiers dying in foreign countries---.

Fools cannot comprehend that is what soldiers do---that soldiers die far and out from the mainland for the glory of the nation.

sir, suppose that situation have happened in 1700's and French have said that we cannot send our soldiers in foreign land.(referring to french help to american during war with British)

Kingdom is stuck in a war it is time for Pakistan and Turkey to solve the issue.
Pak and Turkey only two noteworthy muslim military powers both now have been dragged into int conflicts. I do support Pak help KSA, but it is easy to get into war but not in your control to get out. Pak and Turkey will be working together i guess but both should have an exit strategy also.

While I don't think sending troops to defend Saudi Arabia is a good idea, we do need to have some kind of presence there, if only to secure Makkah Medina. So maybe we can station our troops surrounding those locations. This way, we will be providing assistance to Saudis as well.

But putting troops down to secure borders of the country of Saudi Arabia is not a good idea. If we can't do it for other countries, we shouldn't do it for Saudi Arabia unless the action is reciprocated which it is not. Our troops shouldn't be dying to save the Saudi family. That will send a very wrong message across and we will inevitably be drawn into this sectarian war spread across middle east.

But we can't just do nothing as well. We can't ditch GCC for Iran because that would be equal to picking a side too. Raheel Sharif should go head the force there as he is retired and doesn't really command troops in PA. But if his skills can help the coalition there, then good because it sends a positive message to Saudi and its allies. Some force on ground to secure the holy places would be good too. Anything more than that is going to be trouble for us.

And it's not like we have a choice here. We HAVE to be balanced because favoring any one side will spell disaster for our own internal security which is already quite delicate right now.

So best would be to help Saudis a bit here and there to keep ourselves in their good books, and improve relations with Iran at the same time with the help of defense ties and economics. Tricky balance, but as I said before, we don't have any other choice if we want peace at home.

History shows what the "strategy" should be - it's not egress it's ingress!!!!!
