There are always better aircraft available. That is not what I am disputing. I have a Volkswagen, but I could always buy a better and more luxurious car such as Mercedes, Audi etc. The question is, do you really think that PAF can afford expensive fighters such as F-15 or EF? Secondly, even if they acquired these fighters they will always be prone to sanctions. Thirdly, I don't think the Americans and Europeans would be selling their fighters to Pakistan.
The J-10b is an excellent platform with all the bells and whistles that PAF requires at the moment and in the future. It is better than JF-17 in almost every aspect. Its price tag well within budget and justifiable. Heck, Pak could perhaps get it on favorable terms. It is the most realistic option that PAF has in the nearest short term. Otherwise you'll have to wait for a 5th gen platform which is going to take a while.
This is what happens when you talk out of context. If you go through the thread then you would realize what was being discussed.
In short PAF does not have a dedicated Air Superiority Fighter. PN requires a naval attack platform that can effectively control the EEZ. To cover these requirement one has to look towards an aircraft that can out fly the opponents have enough range to effectively petrol and then engage any threat and still mange to fly back to the airbase from where it left because PN does not have any Aircraft Carrier and does not intend to have in future.
Secondly Pakistan should not put all her eggs in one basket (China) and historically PAF has used 2 Western type of aircraft along with 2-3 Chinese Types at all times.
For training as well PAF has always used 2 -3 types out of which 1 has always been western.
Now it is up to decide if my post that you replied to is making sense or not.
The choice PAF has is between J-16 / F-15 and Eurofighter.
J-16 uses the same engines as J-10 and it can be further developed. It would complement both PAF and PN.
F-15 uses the same F-16 engines and is a mature platform and also has stealth features.
Eurofighter uses a different engine but that can be licensed produced in Pakistan if they want. Moreover this platform can be upgraded and there is also possibility that once the Turkish Fighter X is finally mature it would use a variant of the EJ-200 series.
Though there is also a possibility that PAF is looking for the KAI-T-50 Golden Eagle as an option which uses the same engine that powers the F-18's.
JF-17b uses the same engine as Rafale so one might think that PAF would be considering that aircraft as well but this highly unlikely.
It is agreed that all these aircraft would be expensive to operate but it is also agreed that Pakistan's economy is also going to improve in the future. Now is it not possible to afford twin engine fighters?
If one tries to look beyond 2020 then PAF would love to have 2 Chinese types of stealth fighter aircraft. PAF knows that China would be selling F-31's and JF-17 Stealth variant.
But what about the Western fighters replacement?
The option of getting F-35's is still unknown.
Turkish Fighter X is an option.
Korean Fighter X is an option.
It is up to you to decide if you agree or disagree.
@MastanKhan Sir, would you like to say some thing on this subject.
