According to a page which has often proved to be quite authetic is saying that Pakistan is again in talks with China for J-10B. And another which is also being reported is that Pakistan may also have got KJ-2000. This if true is great but I personally don't believe this.

In February 2006, the then President of Pakistan, Pervez Musharraf, toured the J-10 and JF-17 production facilities on a trip to China during which thePakistan Air Force (PAF) was offered the J-10,

and the purchase of 36 FC-20s, a Pakistan-specific J-10B variant, was approved in April 2006.

In November 2009, Pakistan signed a deal with China to buy 36 J-10B fighters in a deal worth around $1.4 billion.

Deliveries to Pakistan were expected to begin from 2014–15 and the aircraft was to be designated as FC-20 in Pakistan.

In July 2011, Daily Jang reported that China will give a squadron of the advanced J-10B fighter aircraft to Pakistan.
According to the report,"the offer was made by senior Chinese military leaders to visiting Pakistan Army's Chief of General Staff, Lt Gen Waheed Arshad".

In March 2012, talks were held between the two countries to discuss the delivery of latest J-10B fighter jets to Pakistan.

Personally i dont want Pakistan to induct the J10B

I am sure its a great plane and if we didn't have the F16s it would be a good option to complement our JF17s

But the reality is we have limited funds
Our JF17 programme is ticking along nicely

We have 76 F16s a plane we know inside out

And because the J10B isnt a massive leap above a F16 block 52 whats the point of spending so much money buying, inducting, training pilots, etc for a platform which doesn't give us anything new in terms of performance above our F16s

We had the option of 18 F16s from the U.S and we should take that option as well as buying up second hand F16 until we have around 150 planes

Once the Chinese 5th gen option is ready we can just go for that

We need three platforms first and we need all three in large numbers 5th Generation yes but it will take time

The more platforms you have the more it costs

If J10B gave us something above and beyond the F16 then fine, but both are in the same performance ball park

It makes better sense economic or otherwise just to induct more F16s and go for a 5th gen chinese option when its ready

J10 gives us immediate replacement for Mirages and F7 p which both are getting old...we should not rely solely on JF17....F16 cannot take our home build cruise missile and various weapons build for JF17....here J10 can take them on large number then JF17 thunder..

If we didn't have to think about india holding out for the 5th gen option would be best but atleast the wespons package and load for the J10B makes sense

@RAMPAGE

Its the angle
If I remember correctly in this video The F-117 Nighthawk Fighter Jet - PlayIt.pk

they were saying that the tail must work like a reflector. Hence it is designed at angles that maximum deflection is attained. Though the same principle was used for the entire body. What can not be deflected that is absorbed by the paint.

In further research it was found that stealth aircraft must have a twin tail design to attain stealth but for maximum stealth no tail is mandatory. B-2 is an example. The design is taken from nature bat and flying lizards.

Tough we require Three types it is not possible for Pakistan to keep all her eggs in one basket even though how good your friend might be.

As far as Pakistan is concerned it would have multiple platforms of Chinese origin but would also have US/French/British/Turkish/Korean or some other.

In one of the post relating to the Rafale's I remember quoting that if India is not going to purchase these then PAF would definitely acquire them. Though at that time @sancho went after me on this. Now the thing is that the India has purchased them but in a very small quantity so that India can still try to delay PAF in acquiring any western platform by keeping the others in contention of the remaining orders.

Though the under side of this is that the window of twin engine aircraft has been closed but the single engine fighter aircraft is still open for India. There are some suggestion that this is due to US might be able to sell some F-35's. If India is going to reopen a new tender then it is definitely for the F-35's.

If Pakistan plays her cards well then PAF has a very good chance of getting the Eurofighter Typhoon and later the Turkish Fighter X. Though there are news that some Middle East countries and a South Asian country in in talks with Boeing, Dassult and EADS.

We already have F-16 and two other 4.5 Gen Fighters will be J-10 B and JF-17
