What's new

Pakistan from (and in) the eyes of a Saudi Professor!!

Condition of these workers is not good in their respective countries too so I won't blame Saudis.

Our people go there for even petty work like bathing horses too so why expect some royal treatment.

This is the failure or South Asian governance.

Agreed .
But this is not only due to governance but due to inherited poverty ,illiteracy and demographic challenge
Educated people will always get respect in any society

.
There are professors in Saudi Arabia? Man that's a new one for me.

. .
Even if it was the reverse (i.e. majority was bad), I would still not ignore such a positive opinion about my country of origin and birth :-)

By the way, I have personally found Arabs to be good people on the whole. It is just difference in culture which creates misunderstandings but fundamentally they have no grudge against us - Pakistanis. Rather, they look at us positively.

To be honest, some of overseas Pakistanis in ME have done disservice to the nation by demonstrating a negative behavior and that we see even inside Pakistan. So South asians also share the blame but every nation is biased so that's also contribute to the negative impression.

Don't you think that some of Indians misbehave or abuse the system and society in Middle East?

Yup .
Arabs are very friendly and trustable .No humans can tolerate cheating.Politically we didnt interfered in GCC and never will be and that is giving us a lots of credit .Majority of Indians obey their rules (most of them are Keralites).Their only aim is hardwork and money.
But some Indians cheated them for money or resources .No humans can tolerate cheating
Some people in former generation did that and tarnish Indians image for a certain extent .But now due to high education and positive image of India generally ,there is not much issue.

Business Tycoon like MA Yousuf Ali ,Ravi Pillai ,Dr Asad Mooppan etc are very famous and have a lots of influence.

Agreed with the bold part.

As far as educated people getting respect in any society well NO not exactly. Once you are the employer and on top of that have no other backup plan you can be insulted by the employer anytime despite you being educated.

Well, both England and Usrael are very active in the Middle East, the latter has been/is and will always look for any Arab vulnerability to sabotage their efforts for progress and advancement, England is the one surgeon who made this implant in the ME and the US is its biggest supporter.. these are facts..
However, apparently it was discovered that only some entities inside Britain and the US are supporting The Usraeli effort of sabotage, while other entities are against it..Qatar was caught playing the Usraeli and its supporters game..and the Arab intelligence agencies were following on this file for more than 20 years now and got their evidence in the last 5 years.. this is why they want to either establish controls on Qatar's policies, Media and finances, or let it go its own way, because Qatar has proven to be a vulnerability to Arab security and stability in general and the GCC in particular, where Qatar operates (read a controlled intelligence operative) as an insider for other (up to no good and belligerent forces) by taking advantage of his membership in this closed and private Club, and thus a heavy liability..
This somehow don't add up mate. Can you please explain how Qatar has been supporting Israel while it supports Hezbollah and Iran. Both of which are anti Israeli.

Hi @war&peace .

Thank you for the link. It is indeed a very nice article.

Initially, when you sent me the link of this article, I thought that the article would contain criticism on Pakistan. This is the reason why, I wanted to wait till weekend, and get myself free from everything to respond to the criticisms raised in the article. But when I read it, it seemed to me and other Pakistanis, a refreshing piece of writing, and probably have come as a shocker for some (our neighbors).

There is nothing much to write as we Pakistanis know more good things about our country than stated by the writer in this article. However, I would like to mention my family's experiences, having been spent many years in this region.

I would like to start off by mentioning an incident I saw a few weeks back on Sharjah/ Dubai Highway. Anyone who has visited UAE would know that Shiekh Zayed Road that connects Dubai and Sharjah, has six lanes with a maximum allowed limit of 120 kms/ hour. It was a holiday and I was visiting some of my friends, who live in Sharjah. They live in the buildings on Sheikh Zayed Road. We were standing on the service road at around 1:00 am having tea at one of the cafeteria under one of the building. In front of us, was this road. The traffic was light because of early morning hours, but not that light which could enable us to cross the highway.

Anyway, long story short, another Pakistani father was also standing in front of another shop with his 2 years old child. Nobody, including his father, realized that the son suddenly ran towards the highway and by the time the father, or anyone else could notice, the child crossed the service road, and ran towards the fastest lane of the Sheikh Zayed Road. Suddenly we heard the scream of father and screeches of cars to avoid the child. The cars were avoiding the child (who was standing on the fastest lane) by abrupt maneuvering. Father ran towards the highway himself but was stopped by other people because people didn't want him to lose his life with his child who was about to die.

Suddenly, we saw a big Yukon, which changed its lane from second to the fastest, some 50 meters away, we thought those were the last moment as other cars were avoiding the fastest lane but that car was entering he in it instead of avoiding.. The guy suddenly drifted and stopped the car in vertical position blocking the two lanes. He was facing the incoming traffic, but thanks to Allah, the other cars stopped with huge noises of screeching, he jumped out of his car, then jumped over his car's bonnet to reach the child, took him in his arms and stood on the edge of the road.. Some of the people started stopping the last lane cars so that he could cross the road.. He crossed, handed over the child to his father (who was crying and weeping, not just him but others were crying too), immediately turned, entered his car, and drove away.. I couldn't hear what he said to the child's father (might be to thank Allah).

He was a Saudi, driving a Saudi number car.

Objective of narrating this story is that some people think that Saudis are heartless people and don't care about other people. These people call Saudis racists. While calling them racists, they forget the racism in their own countries.

My father has spent 22 years of his life in KSA. He still has some Saudi friends. I have heard a few bad incidents, but I have heard more good things. I have seen young Saudi boys with trolleys full of Iftari boxes standing on traffic signals, handing over the boxes to people/ cars passing by. While handing these boxes, they don't ask the nationality, or even the religion (I have seen Hindu labors getting those boxes containing food, juices and milk enough for 2 people).

Some people say that older generation of Saudis was much better, but I can tell you, I made a few friends before my transfer to UAE, they used to have extremely good views about Pakistan and Pakistanis. In Riyadh, I have seen PAF pilots crossing the road in their uniforms and entering the restaurants while Saudi people waving at them. Almost every Saudi knows that PAF and PA are there to save Harmain.

But, I have seen a few Saudis who are racists.. But should I start calling everyone racists because of a few rotten eggs? If this is the case, then we should call ourselves father of racism who still prefer to make relationships based on the mother tongue in our own country Pakistan.. I have seen bad Kafeels, who have snatched businesses from people, but I have seen good Kafeels, who would pay for the things purchased from the shops under their Kafalat.

Most of the Saudis are simple people. They pray five times, they are kind, caring etc.. Good and bad people are everywhere. Saudis are no exception.

Perhaps that is due to age colonial mindset or some other reasons like trust people very much.

It has been proven that Qatar plays on both sides, that is the cause of this crisis with other Arabs, it is a member of the GCC and backstabs its allies.. it has an Usraeli Embassy and supports Hamas, while its Israeli/Palestinian advisor to the Emir goes saying on Al Jazeera that Palestine never existed and there will be no Palestine! It is a member of the coalition in Yemen and yet was handing insider information to Houthis it was combatting on the ground (with nationalized African troops), the list is endless, I am not sure if Hizbollah and Iran too will find some weird things that have happened to them in Syria had Qatar involved in it or not.. let's wait and see..Even lately Qatar was included in the Nawaz Sharif panama leaks affair!!!

Very nice analysis.
When international media "glorifies" Pakistans proxy game to a K-2 height, when they say ISI is no:1, they basically lure some other countries to play the same game, and for their own loss.
Same happened in middle east. Israel lured all ME countries to play proxy-proxy. Meanwhile Israelis insured that the game is going no where except towards the utter destruction of middle-east and the "gamers". All the countries playing this game should stop it right now. Its in favor of Israel only.

Hey Guys!!
Some of my foreigner (locals here) friends referred me to this article written by a Saudi Professor Tariq A. Al-Maeena in which he has said certain things about Pakistan that my friends wanted me to clarify. So I want to share it with you and want to know your opinion about this article. Please try to keep following questions in your mind while reading the article and commenting about it.
  1. Is he being truthful?
  2. Should brothers treat each other this way?
  3. Does brotherhood and ummah exists at any level after reading this article?
  4. Why a KSAian views us - the Pakistanis as such?
  5. Have our Indian friends been right all along that we are treated as slaves by Arabs?

Please read the article before commenting (hint: I have used a little bit of sarcasm). Otherwise you will risk being turning your self into a sour moron!!

Salam Brother. I will not use my words for that article but i will give you the best answer from one of the finest in this world.
A Jew come to Harzat Ali (R.A) and asked him, in our prayer we don't have any problem to conduct and we did it without insinuating whispers and different thoughts, but in your case i hear that you have those problems. Hazrat Ali(R.A) reply's If one house belongs to beggar and one belongs to rich, where burglar will go? Jew replied Burglar. Then Harzat Ali(R.A) replied Satan seduce those who have Allah in their heart.
So, we are in right path bro and let the world cry
