Pakistan president signed an ordinance that brings all individuals and organisations banned by the UN.

Hafiz Saeed, the 26/11 Mumbai blasts mastermind and Jamaat-ud-Dawah chief, has been declared a terrorist by Pakistan, according to media reports.

Sources in the Pakistani National Counter-Terrorism Authority (NACTA) qouted Pakistan's President Mamnoon Hussain on Monday signed an ordinance that brings all individuals and organisations banned by the UN Security Council (UNSC) - including 26/11 attacks mastermind Hafiz Saeed and his group, the Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) - under the ambit of the country's stringent Anti-Terrorism Act.

Earlier on Monday, Chief Justice Saqib Nisar had ordered the Punjab police to open all roads blocked in the name of security in Lahore.

"If you fail to submit a compliance report, the court will decide your fate. You are not going to stay as the IG even if the chief minister wants to retain you," Justice Nisar has warned the Inspector General of Police yesterday.

Deputy Inspector General (Lahore) Dr Haider Ashraf on Monday told PTI that police had removed blockades from some 16 places including the JuD headquarters on the order of the apex court.

Ashraf said that police have also removed road blockades outside the residences of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Canada-based cleric Dr Tahirul Qadri and slain governor Salmaan Taseer.

Responding to a question about any resistance faced by police from the supporters of JuD chief Hafiz Saeed, Ashraf said: "We presented the SC order to the JuD chief before removing the barricades placed on the roads outside Qadsia headquarters of JuD."

The JuD had placed barricades more than 10 years ago outside its headquarters in Chauburji blocking the main roads there. The blockade had been causing immense problems to motorists and local residents but no one neither dared to raise a voice nor filed a petition in the court apparently because of the fear of the JuD men.

The JuD is believed to be the front organisation for the LeT which is responsible for carrying out the Mumbai attack that killed 166 people. It has been declared as a foreign terrorist organisation by the US in June 2014.

Justice Nisar had issued the order while hearing a suo motu case regarding blockade of roads in the city by politicians and private people.

When the law officer told the court that the barricades had been installed outside the residences of different 'VIPs' as they have threats to their lives, Nisar said, "Even I have been receiving constant threats. Go and construct bomb-proof walls for your houses, have snipers on rooftops, but do not block roads."

i must say that this decision reminds us about indian and american pressure.it's true.we are under pressure but this kind of decisions creates panic and public anger.

Forget that this is what India or the US want. I know you people don't like India and the US. But isn't this good for Pakistan? Over the years many organizations that you have aided or turned a blind eye to eventually started killing your own citizens and wrecking havoc.
But under Pakistani Constitution how long is an Ordinance valid for before it is ratified by the Parliament? I am sure this had the blessings of the Pakistani Army as well. Perhaps some Pakistani can throw some light on the legal aspects?

but the word Justice is pretty much relative and has an individual interpretation while proving oneself is doing justice to ones understanding with the truth.

rest assure we are not discussing Hafiz Saeed here since the government has made up their decision which the next government may change or uphold desirably.

They can't go against law of land,binding or not.I have operated under them and i know very well.

I am surprised at your statement which are self contradictory. One the one hand you claim that you have worked under some sort of legal/constitutional power in Pakistan and on the other hand you state that it does not matter whether UN resolutions are binding on member state or not. It makes me wonder whether you ever worked in a position where you could understand the matters or whether you are just incompetent at what you do.

In any case, let me make this abundantly clear, UN resolutions are binding on all member states. What this means is that all members states have to abide by those resolution even if it means amending their own laws and constitution. When member states defy UN resolutions, sanctions are put in place, trade is restricted and the matter can also be escalated to the UNSC where a harsher military action can be considered. Most of the recent ATA amendments and AML amendments were made to comply with UN resolutions!

WTH are u talking about???which UN are u talking about...UN which has become a puppet in the hands of west and particularly USA???Now if tomorrow india says it doesn't like any xyz person/organization and asks USA to ban it..just like in case of hafiz saeed...and USA does it using the puppet UN..would that be justified????

N tell me what UN has done so far for kashmir...all it says Kashmir should be solved but when asked how it becomes mute n blind
