Testing a solution is fine, Atalji tried it.
However peace has a problem. It will make one complacent resulting in lowering of one's Guard and one fine day there will be an invader with no regards to human values/treaties/human rights/peaceful solutions/international laws (history is full of such examples).
1947-62 25 years; 1962-65 3 years; 1965-71 6 years; 1971-89 18 years (Insurgency begins)
1971-99 28 years; 1999-so far 18 years
P.s. Though these time durations dont exactly say that but are still relevant to note.

Suppose we put it to the test?

On going hostilities with Pakistan is good in a way that we have a competent Military which saves us from western and central Asian hordes of terrorists (today's term).
