China will have a good relationship with the Muslim world as long as it doesn't copy America's policy. The mess in the middle east brother started almost two hundreds years ago when these western powers played the divide and rule game. This happened in Africa and as a Chinese you should know that the 100 years of humiliation of China stems from this. The Muslim world represents 1.6 billion people and one day this will be a united block and it's in the interests of China to have a good friendly relationship vice versa. This is the reason why the Chinese are talking to the Taliban and CPEC will be the gateway for China to the Muslim world.

Why go for bullet trains when you have camels

Why go for a bullet train when India has cows:)

.
First improve and expand the current system than think about HSR our politicians are really different breed.

That is true, I agree. but the interaction always goes both ways. Chinese now start to believe their way of life should be protected. China certainly is not interested to interfere the business of others.
But they also do not want Muslim world interfere the business inside China. In Chinese way of thinking, NO religion is ahead of the state institutions. the life of common people is secular.
You know, Chinese Muslim is very different from other Muslims. Still, there is many things they do makes the Chinese public unhappy. Given one sample, male Chinese Muslims can marry normal Chinese, many of the married women were forced to converted to Muslims. However, female Muslims are usually not allowed to marry normal Chinese. The net results is the expansion of the Muslim population. I have a female friend who rejected the marriage to Chinese Muslim whose parents want her converted Muslim when her get old than 50.
Another sample is the construction of big Muslim Church in Guangzhou by some government officials to welcome businesses from Middle East. This actually leads to huge public outcry.
Chinese do not discriminate Muslims, but do not enjoy the close feature of Muslims in Chinese public, and their way of expanding influence. we prefer that the religion belief should be personal choice, not by blood, and should be private choice.

I did not intend to offense any one, but the interaction with mutual respect is necessary, otherwise there will be big trouble ahead.

Average train speed in UK is about 100 km per hour. Millions commute daily from the Home Counties, Mumbai residents could never get to work, had it not been for the railways.

Bullet trains are most useful if the journey is non-stop and for those who commute daily to work from long distances as in Japan where the space in the cities is extremely expensive and low paid staff are forced to live long distance away from the their place of worker. For Pakistan it would indeed be a luxury.

Rail track distance between Karachi & Lahore is about 1220 KM and between Karachi & Peshawar about 1570 KM. Target should be for express /mail trains to cover Lahore Karachi in about 15 to 16 Hours and to Peshawar in about 24 Hours. In other words people boarding Khyber Mail at Karachi Can’tt at say 8 PM in the evening reach Lahore before Noon next day and Peshawar by 8 PM next day. The same on the Down trains the other way.

Khawaja Saad Rafiq is right. As Hon Wen Ling has posted that what is more important than bullet trains is that trains should run on time and not break down on the way. If I were still living in Pakistan I would be quite happy with a safe, reliable, inexpensive journey as long as it is reasonably quick. Those who are in hurry can always opt for the air.

Brother the Muslim world also must respect China's sovereignty and internal disputes. Like I mentioned in my previous post the relationship works both ways. A great example of China's relationship with the Arab world was during the Tang dynasty. Uighur terrorists don't have a religion brother, otherwise they wouldn't killed hundreds of innocents Pakistani's when they were residing in Waziristan. In fact every captured Uighur terrorists has been sent back to China. You cannot resolve the issues of issues of Xinjiang without having the support of the Muslim world. This is because these terrorists are traveling around the world and painting a false picture that the Chinese Government is killing Muslims. China must therefore destroy this false perception by developing a link with the Muslim world.

I have traveled and worked in the Agricultural Bank of China so I know some of the problems relating to the Uighur people. The Central Government should abolish the education quota system for the minorities. This is creating unnecessarily tension between the Han and the Uighur. A number of Chinese employers are not taking in Uighur graduates. The main reason is because the Uighur are not qualified enough due to the education quota. When I was in Chengdu the Uighur waiter couldn't speak even basic Mandarin in order to take my friend's order. Remember brother every single ethnicity is Chinese and you must all live in harmony.

The Hui Muslims of China are actually no different to their Muslim brothers across the world. I have done Ramadan in Beijing and use to read my prayers in the Mosque, so I interacted with a number of Hui Muslim Brothers. In Islam a man cannot marry a non-Muslim women except for the the people of the book. Even then this concept cannot exists since Christianity and Judaism has changed drastically. The same rule is applied to a Muslim women.

I have a female friend from Beijing who once upon a time wanted to marry a British man who she met at a University. Her parents rejected the marriage as the man wasn't Han Chinese. I had another friend from Chengdu who was in love with a girl from Tokyo and he literally begged his parents to marry the girl, yet they refused. In both these cases when my friends ask me for advice I said to them that they should respect the wishes of their parents. Do you know why Brother? A person can change his wife because they can break up and have a divorce. But in this world you have one Mother and one Father. My point is Brother every culture, religion wants to protect their way of life this is how the world works.

What's wrong with the construction of a big mosque in Guangzhou? The Government monitors the mosque and if any anti-state literature is made by the Imam then he is released from his posts and detained by the police. This is a good will gesture by the Chinese Government and many in the Muslim world will appreciate this. When we pray in this mosque then this is a private matter. If you told me that a Muslim was praying on a street and disturbing public life then I would agree with you. Brother I didn't find your message offensive. In fact the best way to move forward is dialogue except for terrorists who only like to kill. Pakistani people in general keep their word and we believe Xinjiang belongs to China.

Thank you for the nice reply.
It is true the Chinese domestic policies on minorities has a lot of problems. and more importantly, Chinese people has never had much chance to interact with the rest of world thoughout their history, so do not the open mind and good vision on complicated cross-culture issues. So I think it will take some time to modify many domestic policies. Luckily, Xi Jingpin started to make people working on these things.
At least, the majority of Chinese has no colonial thinking, no 'super whitish thinking', hope through more working together, most of the issues can be solved and mutual-respected.
Personal exchange to both sides' school will be a good start.

Brother I regard China as my home. Most of my best friends are Chinese, thus I wouldn't want to see any harm come to China and it's citizens. The Central Government needs to find the right balance, however, they are trying their best to appease everyone. Sometimes when you have a large population with difference of opinion then the task becomes difficult. Nonetheless brother I personally believe the Uighur community needs to do more. They are even hostile to their Hui Muslim brothers. They need to integrate more into society and learn basic Mandarin while respecting the law. I saw some horrific videos online where the terrorists randomly started attacking innocent people...Islam does not teach this.

China's relationship with Pakistan and the people to people interaction through CPEC will resolve this cross-cultural issues. Since the 1990s the Uighur terrorists have tried to convince the Taliban to fight against the Chinese. However, Pakistan through the Haqqani Network controls them and now they have been given a chance to return to China and become normal citizens. If they don't do this then they will become disseminated either by the Taliban or Pakistan Armed Forces. These Uighur terrorists did alot of crimes in Pakistan so we have no sympathy for them. A number of Confucius Schools are going to be opened up in Pakistan...one has already started in Gilgit Baltistan. One of the reasons why the Muslim world likes China is because they have no colonial thinking like the western powers. The Syrian issue Brother would you believe it dates back to 150 years.

Before election they didnt have a single clue on what they were promissing.

What is there just another few billions as loans from China. They will build for you. Pakistan must move towards top technologies like bullet trains. Chinese must understand laughing at someone's disabilities is Shameless and shame full. Even though we are at state of war since independent we share same blood.

So we do get angry when you laugh at them. Just wait for few years India will throw outright challenge to you in all fronts.

LOL your high speed bullet trains, newly constructed brigades, factories are crumbling down like pack of cards. We are already have one of the large rail networks and Mono Metro trains when compared to many nations on this planet. And our planned programs will double our already large enough metros and rails tracks.

So close Ur front door Back door challl

Average speed of Indian Railways is merely 55-65 km per hour. Saying that UK too need lots of work to do with speed 100 km is fast enough before 2-3 decades. But not today. But UK has well planned fully connected metro trains. I also been to UK lived for couple of years.

Sure Pakistan India need high speed rails first. Average should go up to 100-140 km/hr . Never the less Bullet trains construction brings in much needed technologies we could use it and diverse these idea to normal trains and infrastructure. Do you get my point?
