Regime change was also the public objective---along with dozens of other secret objectives all of which failed.
Now, they're begging Taliban to come to talk to them and agree to some sort of power sharing formula. (They had rejected Taliban's peace feelers back in 2001-02)

A trillion dollar worth of investment going down the gutter is what the US has achieved---not to mention the daily upkeep cost for keeping the ANA "functioning" in the future. All is within the cross hairs of AT---be it Kunduz or Farah(Right on the Iranian border[hint: Chabahar])

Any guerilla movement will be happy with a stalemate (if you consider it to be one) like the one in Afghanistan.

They can stay for as long as they want, it won't bring them any good---Casualties for their puppets will only increase along with the cost incurred on the failure known as Afghan govt and ANA.

Things didn't go according to the plan for them---who could've thought that the sole superpower will talk to rag tag "terrorists".

OK. Taliban won, you won. US failed.

By the way is there were many secret objectives as well how come you know they failed when you don't have a clue about those objectives.

You need to decide..

Who's responsibility it to fight against terrorist/militants, who are based out of your country. If it is your responsibility, then you are not entitled to being paid for it.

If it is not your responsibility and not your war, then you stand aside and let others come clean up your country.

Or the 3rd option is telling the world, you will neither act against militants nor let any one else do it, as long as they are on your soil.

Ohh you contradict yourself, if the only terrorists are RAW sponsored and based out Afghanistan, what the hell are you asking money for then ?

Nobody from our country is fighting in foreign countries.

Because your terrorism was mostly homegrown, look how the number of suicide attacks in your country have reduced, once carried out operation inside your own country.

–FO spokesman says Afghan issue is political and cannot be resolved through force

–Asks India to stop maligning Pakistan, says Islamabad is working on a positive relationship with Delhi

ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office (FO) on Thursday said that no special conditions were placed before US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad during his recent visit to Islamabad.

The spokesman, Dr Muhammad Faisal said that Pakistan has begun talks with the US for a Coalition Support Fund (CSF) after Khalilzad called on Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and assured him of mutual cooperation.

Adding that US President Donald Trump’s letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan highlighted the importance of the Afghan issue, Faisal said that it is a political and not a military matter, hence, Pakistan believes in “moving forward”.

Referring to the atrocities in Indian occupied Kashmir, he said that Indian forces should accept actual facts and stop maligning Pakistan. He added that Pakistan wants to open the Kartarpur corridor before Baba Guru Nanak’s 550th birth anniversary in 2019.

He added that Pakistan is working on a positive relationship with India to resolve the Kashmir issue. “The success of the Kartarpur project should not sideline Kashmir as it is on the top of Pakistan’s list of priorities,” he said.

Deflecting questions pertaining to the rise of the dollar, Faisal said that it falls under the mandate of the finance ministry and the foreign office has nothing to do with it.

He also cleared the air on rumours on Chinese television that Kashmir will become a part of China, claiming that there is no truth to such reports. “The Chinese state television used a pre-approved map in which occupied Kashmir was shown in white.”
