What's new

Pakistan begins talks with US for more F-16 and may be one more Oliver Hazard Class Frigate.

If we want it would be. There is no issue of Russia it's our mindset and not liking dual engine planes that much.
Not liking dual engine planes for what reason? Must be due to increased maintainance cost etc

None of these weapons matter if a nation does not have will to fight.
It has the will to fight, but it also has the most corrupt bastards ruling it in a pseudo-dictatorship

Yes, cost is main reason.

I doubt any purchase of OHP frigates. PN has been clear they are staying clear of US equipment and are sticking to other suppliers, mostly China.

with or without CSF ?

Jordanian F-16s might be of interest again.
The OHP Class which could be available are FFG-42, FFG-40, FFG-55, FFG-56, FFG-59 and FFG-45.
F-16s would still be a potent platform, if an upgrade can be arranged, but what good are the OHP class frigates?

How has the OHP the PN last received been performing?

Is it a decent enough ASW platform, or would the PN be better off seeking the LCS the USN is considering retiring? It really comes down to the sensors carried by the platform, more than the platform (but even then the age of the platform is also an issue). For a decent ASW frigate, CAPTAS-4 Towed Sonar, a decent ASW helicopter, and the kinds of Command and Control systems to coordinate an attack or a defense.

Either way, the PAF can’t give up procuring the J-10s. Just like the JF-17s, they are essential to maintaining the PAF’s flexibility. The PAF may only be able to acquire a couple dozen F-16, 40-50 used F-16s tops, so it’s no reason to give up on the J-10s and JF-17s. They will constitute the bulk of the PAF.

Btw, is there any indication the US is even receptive to these requests. This could be another saga that gets dragged on for years like the AH-1Z. Considering the current Pakistani government is looked upon favorably by the current US Administration, the Pakistani military probably didn’t see any harm in putting in a request. They probably figured, might as well give it a chance.

Pakistan wants both

J10c we will buy in numbers but it takes time to build up the infrastructure, pilot numbers and capabilities

F16s we already have everything,, any induction is quick and we have pilots with years and years of experience

It makes absolute sense for us to get as many F16s as we possibly can to utilise our built up infrastructure and experience

If they can continue to build up our F16 fleet on the cheap as we purchase J10c and JF17S then it makes perfect sense for us

sensible and logical reply no doubt.what do you think our planners sitting above are illiterate, dumb and deaf and they don,t understand what people or say experts shout here in this forum?

They probably don't want squadrons of new F16s, just probably a few plus the ability to purchase other air force F16s just because of the bang for buck
Quite true, if Pakistan really want the F-16 , they would go for newer one and even the warship. They going for second hand means the price they sold may be very low. If Pakistan didn't get it , it will not affect military modernization towards other equipment.

what budget ?
what strict ?
and again who is the finance minister ?
Somebody posted a comment on PDF a few days back that LC (Letter of Credit) for imports have been stopped except for critical imports like food, medicine and petroleum as there is literally no foreign currency float except the deposits by China, Saudi Arabia, UAE + IMF/ADB (Dawn article today). The Finance minister Dar has gone into hibernation after his return suggesting no further liquidity was available.

The OHP is preferred in terms of operator friendliness and maintenance over the F-22P.

Jordanian aircraft do have service life in them and commonality to existing aircraft. Surplus USAF stock will take a bit of integrating versus them.

The biggest advantage the F-16 brings is what none of members seem to ever understand.

A F-16 bought today can land in Pakistan, be refuelled and refitted to perform a combat air patrol the same day. It is that well integrated into combat doctrine and ecosystem.

Unfortunately, Pakistanis are generally not smart enough and as @nahtanbob pointed out - they don’t even know who to fight and what for. Just want to hate and kill everyone and everything they see randomly out of mental breakdown frustration because they don’t know any better.

If it means the F-16 and anyone speaking in favor of why it still works - so be it.

Considering 30% of Pakistan was underwater, maybe the frigate can travel upstream till Bahawalpur and show us what it can do.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

a will to fight is pointless if you cannot identify your foes
That is not the way to look at it. Ordinarily, militaries exist to defend a nation. In Pakistan's case, the nation exists to defend the military. So, acquiring new weapons is not a means to an end; it is the end itself. Why do I want iPhone 14? Because it exists and I have only iPhone 13.

Between nukes, functional fleet of F-16s and ballistic missiles Pakistani military is well positioned to defend against India

What if India send in a manchurian candidate in the shape and form of Mir Bajwa...

Pakistan has already surrendered to India on all it's strategic positions...
