Pakistan-Bangladesh trade volume to soon touch $1bn: envoy

Comparison of PK and BD on consumption. In Almost all 200 odd consumption indicators PK is 2-6 times more on average.

Not just that but electricity prices are on average 2-3x more expensive than in BD mainly due to the crappy IPP pricing models due to previous PMLN regimes. Yet Pakistan consumes 3x more on average :toast_sign:

If you take into consideration technical capacity then Pak leaves BD in the dust with BD atleast 4-5 decades behind... examples include

1. Nuclear power production capacity/plants under construction
2. Solar power production capacity/plants under construction
3. LSM capacity/Plants under construction
4. High grade military weapons production capacity including fighter jets, tanks, ships, etc...
5. Surgical high end manufactering capacity
6. Total KMs of highways/roads/railroads available/under construction

I can easily spend an hour and list hundreds more that come to mind, but this is just an example. In these value added highly technical plants/skills Pakistan is atleast 50 years ahead of BD :D

Its a very very simple fact that will puzzle any economist/expert. How can a nation that has 3 times less consumption of electricity, 1/10th consumption of high end products, 1/20th the technical capacity of Pakistan have a higher GDP????

^^ Laugh 'emoti' icon from a poster who is from an economically failed nation after SEVENTY FIVE YEARS of independence.

Reality will hit these types like a ton of bricks very soon. BD is on a totally different level economically and only 24 years less of independence has hampered it till now.

This attitude is NOT how you win the hearts and minds of a nation VERY different from that existing in 1971.

Let's just lay off on the idle boasts...SMH

Not just electricity. Have a look at the hundreds of indicators and 99% of then PK averages 3X-4X more.

That too on a Pakistani forum. BD forum wouldn't provide that freedom of speech because most probably he would end up in jail if he speaks up against the govt. I have countless BD friends and they avoid criticizing the govt on social media so I understand his situation.

I asked him why there are so many foreign brands in PK and very few in BD? Most Retail brands will come to PK first and almost never to BD or very late.

Which Pakistani has such low self esteem to go on BD forums and brag???

He is an AL hack and trying too hard to prove Pakistan will fail.

Well it won't.

Nations are resilient that way.

In Bangladesh a group of people in the ruling party have built their entire political career on nothing but hate for Pakistan, it's stupid.

I mean what have Pakistanis done against Bangladesh in the last fifty years since 1971, except occasionally outstretch the hands of friendship? True there are some ethnic Bangladesh haters in Pakistan but those are immature folks - I'm sorry. Not everyone in Bangladesh looks kaley and natey, OK ?

Why being a third world country and being Bengali, have prejudice against an ENTIRE group of PEOPLE AND THEIR ECONOMY a thousand miles away?? It goes against Bengali values in any case.

I don't let my prejudices cloud my logic or judgment. Almost none of the Pakistanis in PDF were alive in 1971, what wrong have they done?

The only logic I can fathom for him, is that he is trying to please anti-Pakistani folks (maybe in India), which is strange to begin with.

Bangladesh' future lies with friendship (and not animosity) with Pakistanis.

I for one am not easily fooled.

You can't buy food and appliances with Statista and IMF numbers.

Bangladesh has gotten better than before - but on the ground situation in Bangladesh is still pretty sad.

@Skull and Bones Dada, again - what difference have you seen in your visits to Dhaka recently?

Has the general well-being of the populace improved?

Sale of cars is not an accurate indicator of the economy in Bangladesh actually. Tariffs are 300% to 800% on sale of old and new and luxury vehicles. Let's use some other method.

It's not all Bangladeshis. Just some AL hacks and internet IT-cell types who have an axe to grind against Pakistan.

Very shameful that they can't see beyond their narrow AL blinders....

It’s cool man. I have a lot of bangladeshi friends here in the states and they never say anything negative about Pakistan. It’s only on the forum where some Bangladeshis spew venom and sometimes I troll back for fun.

Agreed, most Pakistani either done care about BD or are curious about it due to it being the only other muslim majority nation in the subcontinent. There is literal 0 hatred of BD in the hearts of Pakistanis. Even the most right wing nationalist pakistanis will never utter a bad word against BD (AL/Hasina apart). The same cannot be said about Bangladeshis on the other hand. Most id like to believe dont have hatred of Pakistan but a large minority def not only hates Pakistan but cant distinguish the difference between People/Govt. The large vocal minority is mostly funded by India and led by Hindu Bangladeshis who mostly consider BD there 2nd home with the primary one being west bengal in India. Sophisticated bangladeshis know what I am talking about.

In the end a reunion is inevitable and will happen over Hasinas dead body. Thousand years of bondage cannot be destroyed in a mere 50 years.

A reunion?

@Bilal9

You read that line, didn't you? Gave a love emoji too. I wonder if UK Bengali is an "AL hack", what you are?

The major complaint I have with Dhaka is the congestion and lack of proper planning, I rarely went out of my hotel room. But the overall quality of life have improved much since the early 2000s, when I visited last with my parents.

Lets keep our cool as there is no point of throwing mud at each other, trade will bring betterment for both country. Better have an objective view here, lets not forget though Bangladesh has a higher per capital gdp of roughly $1000 more but we also should not forget we are still a poor country and lets not be arrogant.

My view on the matter is pakistan has a great oppertunity in Bangladesh market as India has around 7 billion dollar export and one of their largest export markets. Bangladesh imports a lot of grain and raw materials for industrial products.

On the contrary not much opportunity I see for Bangladesh unless a Pakistani can indicate what sectors pakistan has for Bangladesh.

.
First focus on making sure your country doesnt sink into the ocean in next 20 years before worrying about Pakistani people.

Pakistani middle class is still alot more wealthy and has more purchasing power than BD middle class. Go to islamabad, lahore, Karachi or peshawer and the infrastructure puts BD to shame.

Bangladesh is a land of mystery, where it was predicted that bangladesh will lose land to see but the contrary happening where we see new islands are forming in bay of bengal due to slits from himalayas coming through our rivers. With delta plan taken up by goverment we are expecting to increase our size in next 20-40 years not lose. If you want can provide you further evidence. So whoever has made the prediction on land loss need to have a revision.

I went in 2016 and again in 2019 and it's pretty incredible how much a difference three years can make. I am once again going this year and hope things are even better. Better access to electricity, the internet, clean water, and all the smaller quality of life things. Unfortunately it seems that this economic development is skewed towards the very few in what you could call the "upper middle class" and the rich, while the poor keep getting shafted for a lack of a better word. Regardless of how much the GDP improves in the next few years the issue of wealth inequality will be a big one

Yes it may be a little larger than BD now but the difference is BD GDP per capita is growing around 3 times that of Pakistan’s.
In 2022, GDP PPP Per capita in current international Dollar according to IMF World Economic Outlook April, 2022-

Bangladesh- $6633
Pakistan- $6470
India- $8358
