Pakistan, Bangladesh hold talks in possible thaw

Bangladesh Navy has some ambitious plans it seems.

Looking at the map, any sort of cooperation between Bangladesh and Pakistan would give New Delhi some concern.

Consider a BN with several new build subs, Frigates and other combatants and an actual fighting capability.

And cooperation with Pakistan in the West.

Not a pleasant thought for India.

Not saying for Bangladesh to have open antagonism with India.

But keep them on their toes.

Trying to....but its a real struggle.

The pile up of BAF "any moment now xyz" threads are just too much of a dominant Everest in the landscape...casting big shadow on just about everything.

BD should have had smooth sailing market cap past 100 billion by now (and preferably investment grade credit rating) to have some chance at well rounded finance buffer....instead its collapsed to 30 billion.

I dont think inflation taka has any real muster inside BD....much less outside it.

Well some trolls will say we are day-dreaming.

But having effective deterrence is the name of the game. No one is talking war or conflict. But being strong and having the ability to give a fitting response always makes the wannabe adversary think twice. Unfortunately that is the rules under which the world operates.

The Hypocrisy laden statement in Red above is the highlight.....If that would have been the case (of sharing common bonds of history, religion and culture)...why Urdu was imposed over Bengali language, Why **** leaders said Your there, We Here?....Why Bengali culture was never endorsed by Tall, Fair Punjabi Leaders of the past......There was nothing common between East and West Pakistan's culture/language other than religion.
Bhutto was not a Punjabi nor was A Khan.

Inability and/or unwillingness to deal with Hasina is a diplomatic failure on their part, there's nothing that can be done about it unless they want to. Hasina maybe be a rock but she's no fool either, if the right moves are made, she will reciprocate.

Anyhow, realistically speaking the two countries don't really have much to gain from each other anyway.

Both countries are moving along just fine with the current bare minimum of diplomatic relations, I don't see why it shouldn't stay the way it is.

Right now amid a pandemic isn't the right time for these things anyway. The ultra nationalist lot in Dhaka will protest, if there are any moves on account of better relations with Pakistan.

And the ultra nationalist Pakistanis, on here and elsewhere, will be just as sore everytime they hear anything about Bangladesh and/or Hasina.

So don't go poking people in the eye, keep it the way it is; keep the status quo.

For now.
The only reason she’s relevant in bd politics is because she’s milking hate Pakistan cow

I hope our impulsive FM has not uttered Brother-Sister relationship while in talks with Pakistani Envoy.
What are you doing stepbro?

You are implying PA troops won 1965. It was not that. rather, it had to stop the war because of shortage of ammunition. This is why Ayub Khan had to rush to Tashkent. India could not capture Lahore that was the only solace, but the war itself was initiated by President Ayub Khan to get more popularity that he lost afterwards by the betrayal of Bhutto and Mujib
Not to mention to capture Kashmir too after China’s swift win in 62

but can the nation state of Bangladesh survive the Mahabhrata?
Maybe not. But a nation for bengalis will always exist so as long as there are bengalis

Then that should simplify ur options. If a sanghi run India is expansionist...then BD either has the option to accept their hegemony and become a satellite state...handing over whatever they want on a platter.

Or if the above option is unacceptable to Bangladeshi ppl then the only logical conclusion is to build up militarily...whether alone or in concert with allies(strategically picked). To go it alone against India would be practically impossible...in conventional terms. If u guys develop nukes...it would be costly to develop...and costly to BD economy when sanctions follow. A more practical way forward is to build military alliance and increase military cooperation with Pakistan and China.

Import defense equipment from a good mix of countries...so as not to be too dependent on one country...while also not fragmenting too much that interoperability becomes a nightmare. At the same time start some indigenous projects or even JVs for a few things like artillery or tanks...and start building local industry little by little. Invest in the development of pieces that will enable a net centric environment for ur armed forces. For ur navy...start a JV with whichever country is willing...to make a relatively low cost stealthy AIP equipped submarine. Churn out these in decent numbers...bcuz IN can't be matched on a 1:1 ratio by BN...so an A2/AD approach is better. Coastal batteries, layered SAMs, ballistic and cruise missiles of various ranges...all these things required for any modern armed force...start working towards them. During all this build up...start making military alliance with China/Pak...hold exercises...and buy/customize defense equipment with interoperability in mind.

With a heavy emphasis on defense...BD can build up an effective army, navy, and airforce in about 20 years. Conventionally India will still have overwhelming numbers...but BD will have India surrounded with China/Pak as its allies.

BD needs to recognize that u can turn ur location u consider to be a disadvantage(bordering India) into an advantage(encircling India).
India will never have an advantage of its sheer military strength against bd, it has too many enemies to concentrate all its force on us. If anything, it will be difficult for them to continue a land invasion in Bangladesh for long

Bhuttos daughter was hot,
If his daughter had make out with hasina, pakistan and bangladesh could be best friends.
Nauzubillah

Pakistan believes its a country called Bangladesh.

A desh for Bengalis of all flavor bound by the urge to take place among the Nations of the World as progressive peaceful people.

Wrong memo i believe

I just wanted to say that Hasina is already dealing with Bangladeshis by holding old times political grudges. Since, she is a good reason to expose Indian designs in Bangladesh; why Pakistan will try to deal with her and let go an opportunity as such. It is in-fact Bangladeshis to deal with Hasina at first so that the country is not becoming Indian Farm House.

May be....the comment was on establishment as country's policy is/has been driven more by establishment that these politicians.
Bhutto was hand in gloves with Yahya Khan...and IK...we all know how he came to power.

Still there is no justification to attack Punjabi's. IK?
Bengal should have never been apart of west Pakistan it should have gained independence in 1947 as a separate nation altogether.

However, people of both wings wanted a united Pakistan with two wings in 1947. But, do not you also think that demanding two separate nations as early as in 1947 could have altogether collapsed the plan of partitioning Hindustan into two?
