Pakistan, Bangladesh hold talks in possible thaw

. .
Just hold on to what you have.

Greed won't take you far in midst of war.

War what war ?

Let's say the reports of Bangladeshi illegals in the bordering regions are true, seeing Delhi claims we breed like 'rats' then we can just demographically take over their states, no bloodshed is needed.

A simple extension of our borders.

Indian politicians have been engineering consent to annex Bangladesh for half a decade.

What do you think they will do when they cannot bully the Himalayan corridor?

They coming for you bud. Eat the snake before it eats you.

Nonsense, they don't want 165 million more Muslims and Bangladeshis are unlike Indian Muslims, we will raise hell, that is if they can overrun us in the first place.

Our rivers will be our defence, it'll be a long drawn out war and for what to incorporate yet more Muslims into India ?

War has changed since 71.

Learn it or else it would be too late

This is a foreign policy blunder on the part of Pakistan, similar to handshake attempts with Modi that backfired.

The main attempt of BAL is to ensure that the "Pakistan problem" is kept in the minds of the people. They will keep things simmering and then use opportune moments to condemn Pakistan. It is in their interest to keep the issue alive and antagonized as long as possible.

. .
The Indian armed forces of 2020 are not the same as they were in 65.

Anyhow, I'm not going to argue with you over this.

Sanghi run India is a threat to the region's stability.

Only country with an expansionist foreign policy in the region is sanghi run India.
Then that should simplify ur options. If a sanghi run India is expansionist...then BD either has the option to accept their hegemony and become a satellite state...handing over whatever they want on a platter.

Or if the above option is unacceptable to Bangladeshi ppl then the only logical conclusion is to build up militarily...whether alone or in concert with allies(strategically picked). To go it alone against India would be practically impossible...in conventional terms. If u guys develop nukes...it would be costly to develop...and costly to BD economy when sanctions follow. A more practical way forward is to build military alliance and increase military cooperation with Pakistan and China.

Import defense equipment from a good mix of countries...so as not to be too dependent on one country...while also not fragmenting too much that interoperability becomes a nightmare. At the same time start some indigenous projects or even JVs for a few things like artillery or tanks...and start building local industry little by little. Invest in the development of pieces that will enable a net centric environment for ur armed forces. For ur navy...start a JV with whichever country is willing...to make a relatively low cost stealthy AIP equipped submarine. Churn out these in decent numbers...bcuz IN can't be matched on a 1:1 ratio by BN...so an A2/AD approach is better. Coastal batteries, layered SAMs, ballistic and cruise missiles of various ranges...all these things required for any modern armed force...start working towards them. During all this build up...start making military alliance with China/Pak...hold exercises...and buy/customize defense equipment with interoperability in mind.

With a heavy emphasis on defense...BD can build up an effective army, navy, and airforce in about 20 years. Conventionally India will still have overwhelming numbers...but BD will have India surrounded with China/Pak as its allies.

BD needs to recognize that u can turn ur location u consider to be a disadvantage(bordering India) into an advantage(encircling India).

Everything you state is already in motion and has been going for the past decade, turkey is set to be our new defence partner.

If you keep an eye on this section, it becomes clear what's playing on the mind of our military brass when they procure equipment.

I actually have been paying attention...and IMO the build up towards a lethal fighting force(all branches)...working in a net centric environment...seems very slow. It's not being given the priority it should be given. As for building military alliance with China/Pak...and holding exercises...increasing interoperability...all of that is lacking even more progress.

These things can't be rushed, but the pace will pick up now, the thing is Bangladesh armed forces are reluctant to announce their acquisition, so it's hard to say what is going on.

You must take into account that our national aspirations and priorities are different from that of say Pakistan but things are moving in the right direction right now.

But you need to give it time, come 2030s if the vision 2030 plan formulated by the armed is followed and so far it has been, then things will be different and the power balance will change.

At this moment India is unlikely to attack Bangladesh for a multitude of reasons, least of which is that such a war would be illogical.

Greater cooperation with the Pakistani side can only be possible if your side makes the first move as our leadership is reluctant and vary of getting involved in regional power struggles.

All in all, I'll say the things aren't great right now but the picture will be different by the end of this decade, the way our economy is growing, we can field even bigger budgets soon not to mention the soft power that comes from economic strength.

I appreciate your concern about Bangladesh and your opinions are most welcome.

I also don't think India will invade and occupy BD(at least not in the foreseeable future). That's not the reason why BD should make itself stronger. The reason BD needs to make itself stronger is so that it's not vulnerable...so that it can't be strong armed by its stronger/bigger neighbor...so that it can chart its own path. Despite all the things in this world...like UN, ICJ, etc...only might is right. U r either mighty who plays well this game of chess on the world stage...or u r at the mercy of others.

In due time brother, we have only just emerged from the shadows of backbreaking poverty and natural calamities.
