What's new

Pakistan: Back to IMF again as expected.

I said all along that IMF was most likely route and that there was nothing bad in this. It depends how Pakistan uses this 'opportunity' to get it's house in order. I also said the trip to KSA was primarily done for political reasons. We have country that looks at KSA like a Romans used to look up to their Caesar - in utter awe. Therefore it is now a ritual for all pak politicos to go to KSA and get pictures taken standing next to the Saudi Royals. And sure enough KSA gave nothing. I saw Asad Umar's interview post the visit to KSA and he made it clear KSA was not giving any money but was open to investment in Pakistan which is like saying a shop is open. It does not mean a deal has been made. Stating that is the obvious.

Fawad as is his want meantime was pumping out lots of hot air for the ignorant masses in Pakistan. If you believe him then you certainly fit into the 'ignorant category'.
Politics is a game of fine balancing...

. . .
Nothing is finalized. These are talks.

If IMF continues to demand full CPEC details, the talks will fail. That means default is on the cards and no one gave a shit LOL

If we defaulted we won't be the first and certainly not the last. Heck let's start all over again LOL I am all for it.
IMF has not demanded CPEC details but they are demanding other things. These are just negotiations and will help us to get economic assistance from other means. It is still a pending decision so relax wait and watch how things play out.

Agree. Now the Saudi and Chinese options would be more competitive.

Yep it is not just Saudi or Chinese options there is a Qatari option as well.

. .
A great opportunity for the following:
  • Fiscal discipline
  • More exports, less imports
  • Expansion of local production facilities for Pak are habitual spenders. More FDI in both $ and Chinese/Turkish etc. local currencies
  • Bringing more of undocumented economy (currently ~70%) under regulation/taxation
  • Fighting corruption without any mercy
  • Eradicating money laundering
  • Financial corruption = terrorism = confiscation of property
  • Strengthening of the State, Patriotism etc...
10/10 Yes, this is a opportunity. Time will tell if Pakistan goes forward stronger and leaner ..

.
No Pakistani civilian or military Government in the past has ever hit Pakistan with Rs 900 billion debt in just one day.

The arrogance of the Shaikh Chillis toying with the Pakistani economy is what's worrying me.
Bhai Kya phooktay hu??

You think 900 billion increased due to PTI performance in last 30 days?? Wapis Soo jaa jaisa jaga tha[emoji23]

The trip to KSA was done for many reasons but still KSA option is alive and living but they had conditions now with IMF in circle KSA will lose its conditions.

Now KSA line of finance is live IMF line of finance is live Qatari line is live and on November 3rd we will visit China so with all options we just have to chose the best for us.

Now if this all plays out for Pakistan and USA has cut the aid. I Pakistan gets financing from out side what will USA lose. I am even expecting financing from USA.

Nope. Visit to KSA was a ritual that every PM in Pakistan has to. Like every US President must appease the AIPAC to please his core supporters. It was just a photo op and I read PM IK did not even want to go but was convinvced on political grounds.

And please give up this KSA dream - Saudi's are poodle of USA and the only missing is them being declared the 51st state of USA. You will get jackshit out of KSA. All their petro-dollars will go to Uncle Sam.

This is what happens when you give brainless chutias a voice and platform to express it.

If everyone is pointing out that these loans might be different from what you’ve been told, what’s so bad about being able to see it for yourselves? Don’t you want to know the terms and agreements of CPEC?
