What's new

Pakistan Army Small Arms

I believe the Turks also designed a carbonfibre version of the G3/HK33...it too has a scope, folding butt and rail for grenade launchers, laser, etc.

Video of Turkish rifles:

Note: first 3 shown are Mehmetcik-1 (Turkish version of HK-416); next 2 are sniper variants; then you will see the upgraded HK-33 - it has some of HK G36's design, but it is G3/HK33. IIRC POF and MKEK signed an MoU and quite possibly the result could have been the new HK-33 shown.

Thanks for posting the video. Unfortunately, its commentary/description of the weapons are in turkish.

Yeah VERY wrong. Have you seen the magzine? It R like SO big and has only 20 rounds!

I just learned that the Turkish Mehmetcik-1 is not a license built copy of the HK-416, but apparently a rifle using the same concepts. There are rumours that HK sold design prints of something, but as of now the Mehmetcik-1 is not officially based off a German design.

They would obviously find a way to say that. The truth is the gun is entirely based on plans sold by H&K, yet Turkey did enhance the 416/417 significantly so it's not an exact copy. But it's still based on a very good weapon to begin with you can't go wrong with this weapon, the reliability and punch of an AK and the accuracy of an M16/M4.

HK 417 would be my choice since it can take G3 mag as well! So, alot of benefits with the HK-417 IMHO.

Only the initial prototypes could accept G3 Mags, the new ones are like the G36 mags only without extra magazine attachment pins.

It is, there were many reports about that in this forum. Right now there is an international competition going on in regards to supplying the Pakistan military with the next 5.56mm assault rifle in which even POF is taking part.

bit of miscommunication here. POF is participating in a NATO tender for a 5.56 assault rifle.
there are no reports of switching / replacing the G-3 in the PA in massive numbers. it will be very expensive. some special units are using 5.56mm calibrated weapons.

So what are the 5.56mm assault rifles PA is using nowadays?

No sir, I am pretty sure. There was a Janes article and then an interview too from the ex-Joint Chiefs of Staff or something. The general said that they always planned to get grenade launchers and 5.56 only problem had been finance and he even admitted that that might be a problem this time round too and they will go for the best/economical package. Also have you heard of the Army Magzine Hilal? I read an article about soldiers testing out the G-41 there in Sialot or something.

Either way to do hope we get a 5.56, G-3 are just too damn heavy.
