The Turkish Army will adopt a locally-built HK416 clone, named the Mehmetçik-1.[16] MKEK of Turkey will be the primary contractor. It is envisaged that the Turkish Army will replace all of its G3 rifles with the Mehmetçik-1 by 2012.

7.62x51 mm Nato HK-417 ( My personal choice for PA)

Pakistan should not change its calibre to 5.56 nato as we all know its not worth it.

We have 2 choices that the army can play around with.

STANDARD RIFLES

1) Buy the HK, 416 and the HK417, technology . so we can make all sort of varients 7.62 and 5.56 calibres plus sniper rifles. HK 417 stays as the main rifle of PA, while 416 could be issued to companies, brigades, battalion or various dept of the three armforces according to requirement.
well Iam hoping they will also come with standard dot scope and granade launcher.

2) Second choice would be massive change in the G3 size, reduced recoil and weight.
POF should recreate or re engineer G3 manufacture it in 12" barrel size using same carbonised steel material for body and butt stock. Plus PA shiuld also change the ammo to 6.8mm or 7 mm calibre round. This will make the same G3 light weight less recoil user friendly and a great assault rifle with a huge punch. Addition of dot scope and granade launchers on the weapon is much needed.

SUB MACHINE GUN

The aging MP5 also need a up grade as its 9mm round is weak. MP7 should take over the mp5. the MP5 batch can be transfered to the local police and law inforcement agencies.

SUPPORT
The HK MG43 is also an excellent machine gun for support for PA, they should also buy this technology from HK as well.

Check this out some of the upgraded modified latest g3 on this clip, that is what PA need to do with the G3 if PA is not keen to buy HK 417/ HK416 technology

PA should also look into getting MG4 technology as support weapon for infantry and Pak marines

Officers should never look any different to their men in Op situations. That includes weapons.

As for weapon options it would be smarter to drop the 5.56 and possible 7.62 for section weapons/rifles/ARs and move to a standard 6/6.8 mm round.
It is as effective as a 7.62 range wise and has a better put down ability vs the 5.56.

i mentioned that in my last 2 threads

The FN MAG is still the best general-purpose machine gun (GPMG) on the market in my opinion. The GPMG that runs a very close second is the MG-1A3 or, in its later incarnation, the MG-3, which is the updated 7.62mm NATO version of the Second World War-vintage German MG-42. The MG-3 is the standard GPMG of the Pakistan Army, I believe, and is made under licence by Pakistan Ordnance Factories. It's an excellent choice for a GPMG. I'm not a great fan of 5.56mm small arms, either assault rifles or light machine guns, to be quite honest. This calibre, I believe, is too small.
