if you don't mind my asking can you tell me why was your car impounded? was it unregistered or was it applied for?
if it was applied for all you had to do is wait for the official document and then slap these f***ers and their fat bellies with it.

It was an unregistered Jeep I had bought from a restoration works shop, full papers, all genuine. I went to the registration office and chose not to hire an agent, the officer asked me why I had not opted for an agent so I told him I'd much rather get this done myself, he asked for Rs. 5000 "express charges" stating that old vehicles often have issues, to which I declined and told him that there was no such issue with my vehicle.
Later he falsified a report stating that the number on the chasis had one letter stamped slightly lower than the rest and was therefore likely tampered, he showed it to me and told me that this is what he can do. I agreed to pay him the 5000 he had asked for but he said that now that the issue was on paper, it would now cost me Rs. 35000 to get it cleared. I told him to forward the report and I'll settle the matter with his superiors, he did, car was impounded and the superiors were hardly empathetic to my plight, they just said "you should have just paid the 5000, it would have saved you this hassle".
Eventually, I took the matter to court, where I once again had to pay the bailiff to get my case processed quickly, the matter was reexamined, the number was found to be legitimate and the car was ordered to be released but as a parting gift, the good folks at the Excise dept blacklisted my car which meant that I would have to get it registered outside of federal territory. I can't spare the time to get tokens added from elsewhere every year or put up with slow transfers from some other city in case I had to sell it so I sold the car at a loss just like that, brand spanking new condition.

Tebrikler Pasham (congrats General)!! The people with Na'mus (honor) need to show as much Jesaret (boldness), if not more, as the people without it. Few bad apples shouldn't destroy the image of the Pak Ordu (army) for they earned it with blood, sweat and tears...

On a personal note, I hate to see the Military Officers dishonoring themselves for it's one of the most noblest professions honored both in this world and the next. As per a Hadis-i Sherif, if someone spends a sleepless night guarding the border of a Muslim state he earns the sevap of doing Ibadet for a thousand nights (meaning uncountable with human perception). In our BOOK, while describing the day of Hashr, such terms as "soldiers in attendance" or "a weaker soldier" were used. The honor of Shehids and Gazis are so high that they will wish to return to the Dunya for another round of duty. May Allah-u Azimushshan bestow hidayet on the officers in the armies in Muslim countries so that they understand the true significance of their profession and act accordingly...

It would be not be out of bounds to speculate here that what was happening in Quetta was some form of such "express charges" payments exchanging hands too.

is that even legal can they blacklist any car without any proper cause .it just saddening to see what our countrymen will do to earn few extra thousands rupee that too will probably be used by them to pay bribe (hram ka maal tikta thori na hay).

Good move by COAS, Congrats! :pakistan:

But still complete details are not out, what will happen to them? released or go to prison? why no court martial?

Military have to prove that there is no place for corruption in their ranks and any foul play will be dealt with strict action. It will increase honor and trust of people on them and others will come under immense pressure to take action among their rank (although they only took cosmetic measures till now).

Off Topic: If I m correct, there has been not a single post by any Indian member till now on this thread. usually they love to jump on internal topics of Pakistan and try to lecture.

Good step in right direction, he should cleanse Armed forces. Next should be judges and other LEAs.

.
Apparently, it is only SIX officers sanctioned, not 11, 12, or 13. The backtracking of the hype begins! :D

He realy put a great example, now he also give a signal to other LEAs and poltical parties to wash their laundries otherwise his Dandda do the work. Let's see how other institutes took the action around them.
I'm surprised how few members still not satisfied and saying " Army was also corrupt " for those this action is an unexpected slap and their reaction showing their shock. The corruption level within army is not match able with poltical parties looters.

.
They wud surely find our Lacoonas in this too. Like the very first objection to be raised wud be..."Pai wo Gen Kiyani da thay kuch vi nai kitha"...
Like i said and the first guy from PML(N) camp is Mr Muhammad Zubair.

.
Very good decision by the COAS an example setting move for political Govt but I would like to tell you people this happen on regular basis in armed forces from top to bottom but the news hardly comes out, its a routine but this time by releasing the news to media for political Govt specially for NS to resign over panama gate scandal.

.
Its not perfect but miles better than the political class.

Corruption is so deeply entrenched in Pakistani society including in all our institutions that even General Raheel can only do so much without pi$$ing off the whole lot.

If he is really wants to cleanse the country then the best course of action would be running for office after hanging up his boots.....Imran has proved that he is an idiot and doesn't cut it !

In bureaucracy, corruption is abundent at lower levels and opposite in military. You'd never see a hawildar doing corruption despite him needing it most due to his uncertain future after employment.

That is true !

.
This can absolutely not be tolerated in an institution as prestigious as pak army...
No single individual is bigger than the institute.

These guys are expected to lead soldiers into combat...and some times to certain death....

Imagine the morale of troops if corrupt commanders are spared and allowed to lead....

This shud set an example and will lead to a cohesive and even stronger military....

Much appreciated move

Considering his brother went from a Suzuki FX to a 2 Crore Land Cruiser during the General's tour.. I really do want to know what he did behind closed doors.

How did we become so corrupt (we as in S. Asians in particular)? We started with so much promise - You with Jinnah and we with Gandhi - Nehru duo but somewhere along the line rot set in. Has to be cultural as all three (India, BD and Pakistan) have followed similar trajectories

Corruption is there all over the world but here it is without an iota of shame which accompanies it. In India no one even bats an eye when monstrous sums such as 1 Lakh crore, 2 Lakh crore etc are bandied about.
