What's new

Pakistan Army fires 11 serving officers including Generals for corruption.

General kayani
yara dragging his name in this is uncalled for ---- he was a patriot, we only saw what he did in front of the cameras, but we didn't see what he did behind closed doors ----

Are you serious????????

Even your statement falls in the sphere of treason! Kayani must pay for his actions!

So, in other words, a relatively minor case - a few vehicles - compared to the billions in alleged corruption and frauds elsewhere.

The Military does not treat any offence as minor. Everything from defaulting on your mess bill to infinity is a breach of conduct and will be treated as such. As for your reference to other cases, the NLC case has seen justice meted out, the DHA case is under investigation and I have faith that justice will be done. If there is any institution that truly upholds justice, more so than our judiciary if I might say with great regret, it is the Military.

Not the first time. We saw some action in that NLC case and as per insider sources many officers from top to bottom involved in the French Helicopter deal also got punishments which included dismissal from service with all benefits taken back.

The army has also confiscated the money these guys made....

4 brigs, former IGFC (lt gen) and a maj general ...

@cb4. Haan patwari sb sanp soungh Gaya.

Sources say the following officers are among those dismissed:

  • Lt Gen Obaidullah, Inspector General Arms and Weapons at General Headquarters
  • Maj Gen Ejaz Shahid
  • Brigadier Rasheed
  • Brigadier Asad Shahzada
  • Brigadier Saifullah
  • Brigadier Amir
  • Brigadier Haider
  • Lt Col Haider, Commandant Chaman Scouts
  • Maj Najeeb
The eight officers named above served with the Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan and have been charged for corruption during their service with the paramilitary force. The others dismissed were junior commission officers who worked with those named above, said the intelligence official.

Following the investigation conducted by Adjutant Gen Zubair Mahmood Hayat on the orders of the army chief, the charged officers were asked to return all earnings accumulated through corruption, the official said, adding that all perks and privileges had been withdrawn from the officers except their pensions.

Lt Gen Obaidullah also served as IG FC from 2010-2013, after which Maj Gen Ejaz Shahid was appointed IG FC, intelligence sources said.

There has been no official confirmation regarding the move.

A lot of speculation going on here about why these officers were charged. To avoid confusion and the proliferation of conspiracy theories I think it is pertinent to mention some important bits of information in order to put the entire thing in perspective.

This investigation had been ongoing for about a year after a complaint was lodged by the owner of a car that crashed on Kuchlak road, killing a Major and a Lt Col who had been asked to test drive the vehicle by Maj Gen Ijaz, then IGFC Balochistan. The resulting complaint took a new turn when it was brought to notice that the car was non-custom paid.
With the role of the investigation expanded, the team went through automotive records of officers serving in FC Balochistan for the last decade and found that a number of officers had defrauded the state by procuring non-custom paid vehicle and transferring the body onto a legal chassis procured through a government auction.
Thus for tax evasion, fraud and profiteering off smuggling. The said officers were found guilty and sentenced.

To add, this is not the first or the last time that a senior officer has been found guilty and sentenced in the Army, accountability is a strict and ongoing process in the Army though it is an internal matter and it is highly uncommon for news to leak like this. That's why the sentiment that the Army has "started clearing its own house first" is slightly misplaced, we have always been making sure that we keep our institution clean.

The car was a non custom paid BMW.. You are entirely correct.

i think they all must be behind the bars, if the Corruption allegation is Proved.

Gen. Raheel is just unbelievable. Day before yesterday, he talked about across the board accountability, today, he showed it. I have no doubt politicians are shivering, they hadn't expected Sir Raheel to be that serious and tough.

Politicians samajhtey hain k har koi un ki tarah hota hai..........Aisa nhi hai.....

Bro,

i may agree with you, but we all knew the recent development in Baluchistan after arresting the RAW Agent.

What Raheel shareef been doing, Kiyani could have done that. He had a golden chance during Memo gate case. but didnt took it. Rizwan akhtar was DG rangers during Kayani era right ? Raheel sharif style operation by Rizwan akhtar back then would have yielded great results.

Kayani bloody faults were he was indecisive, timid and laid back general who believed in to each to his own.

This is a good step, but it is quite obvious that there is much, much, more that needs to be done. I hope that this present noble initiative does not fizzle out and goes on to become a irresistible wave of true reform.

Here is some insider info;

Investigation has been going on since a long time.
The army recovered everything they made.
Every benefit cut off and confiscated including pension.
No more "job" or career.
Disgraced.
And could go to jail.

Investigations might as well be carried out by the SIU (special investigation unit).. The most notorious internal Intel agency within the army.
