What's new

Pakistan armoured corps with Wajahat Saeed Khan.

I can understand your wishes, for this we need first the best economy. But Pakistan is also made for a human folk to have prosper live than in India and not only to build the strongest and largest Army. We can improve always our Army by better tactic, strategy and training and India will never start a grande invasion, till we posses 500 missiles with nuclear warheads. The Nuclear deterence is normaly enough for India, Pakistan must now concentrate on intern security, improving the security situation means more investments from outside and a grow for the folk economy. At the moment we have to clean our Cities and hills from the terrorists, for that our current equipment is more than enough !
i agree with everything your saying, but when was the last time the economy looked on the road to full revival ever since 2007 theres been constant terrorism, even though most of its under control, a few bomb blasts here and there are enough to dishearten any western investment, our only hope lies with china/russian alliance, the sooner the economy gets on track the better the army will be, and with these bastards ISIS coming to afganistan, we may have more problems.

surely you need better than upgraded T59 alzaraar. these ancient tanks over 50 years old .

Documentry should have been BASEDon your mighty AL KHALID
no its not based on that. Its basically based on Armored Corps as a whole not specifically on the type of a tank.

What's the background of this journalist Wajahat Khan?

I liked his We are Soldiers series.
very very information and knowledgeable person when it comes to military state of affairs as a whole, combat or otherwise.

He is from Quetta.

Check this out, u will forget this or we r soldiers.

Dunya News: Dunya TV Special-part all-2015-09-05-Dunya News Special: Qas.

Just its a 9 ton local modification .. A 43.7 ton tank...
Which include Thetis FCS,new 125mm smoothbore,ERA,NBC,composite armour,RCS,IBMS,Jammers,warning system,auto loader etc etc .. Just over 54 modifications..

That's not steel plates but composite & NERA modules .. That saved the tank crew from multiple RPG hits n IEDs.

The Leo upgrade uses the same armour .. The same modules.

Did his masters from Harvard... Covered afghan war for US ... Worked as journalist n editor? For NBC news,Dawn etc.

Covered PA ops against Taliban - believe he was embedded or something..

Depends upon the capability of an army, quality of equipment and environment.

Operation Phantom Fury is a role-model for the entire world for successful combat operations against powerful insurgency in an urban environment involving use of armored vehicles, troops and airborne assets with effective coordination: Operation Phantom Fury – Beginning of the End of al Qaeda in Iraq | Armchair General | Armchair General Magazine - We Put YOU in Command!

The enemy had been preparing for the inevitable assault for months. They had built barricades, set IEDs and dug in deep. Most of the four-thousand jihadists were there to fight and die. Task Force Blue Diamond, the 1st Marine Division, led with their tanks. The 70-ton armored vehicles were unstoppable. They mowed down fanatic fighters in the streets and blew through barricades as enemy RPGs bounced off their thick skins, leaving little more than black scorch marks. Four battalions of Marine infantry swarmed into the city behind the armored juggernaut. The insurgents tried to stand and fight. It ended badly for those that thought they could defeat American tanks and Bradleys.

Al Zarrar is meant to upgrade our T-59; not to be our main armoured first - the picture of the destroyed tank managed to survive several RPG shots and a IED, the crew walked away untouched.

Al Zarrar isnt that bad - can easily go against India's T-72.

.
there was a member on here a few years ago who said his cousin who was in the pak army stated that the AL-zarar was unreliable and could be taken out easily with 1 RPG hit, he went on to say that the ordinary T-59 provided better protection then the AL-zarar, the picture of the destroyed alzarar was from the wana area i believe back in 2009 in that picture there is no crater, and the are multiple penetrations around the hull or turret, i don't believe this myth that it took multiple hits and sustained a massive IED hit before getting destroyed. I don't think the AL-zarar is that useful, it would be better to upgrade some of 1000+ APC to IFV standard with the help of china and turkey, to me AL-zarar looks good but doesn't fight good.

Check it out :

@DESERT FIGHTER @DesertFox97 @Umair Nawaz hey might be interesting for you

  • Type 59-II ?
  • The Type 59-II (also known as WZ-120B) is an upgrade mounting a 105 mm. rifled gun, similar to the Royal Ordnance L7, and adding an image intensification/infrared night sight. Mass increased to 36.5 tonnes
  • Type 59-II (59-2) / WZ-120B medium tank
In the early 1980s, Type 59 tanks were upgraded with a Type 79 105mm rifled gun, a copy of the British L5, as well as a new 580 horsepower engine, a further improved automatic fire suppression system, VRC-8000 type radio and VIC-I-type vehicle intercom. Work on these improvements initially began in 1981. These improvements were initially be limited to certain existing Type 59-I vehicles, but a final design was completed in 1984. Production of what subsequently became known as the Type 59-II ran from 1982 to 1985, and the vehicles were supplied to PLA units. These vehicles were also known by the industrial designator WZ-120B.

The new 105mm gun could penetrate 150 millimeters of homogeneous steel armor at 30 degrees at 2,000 meters, a significant improvement over the previous 100mm gun. The automatic fire suppression system greatly improves the survivability of the tank. The new radio doubled the distance at which the vehicle could communicate. The tank design in 1981, 1984 finalized the design, production from 1982 to 1985, has been equipped with Chinese troops. The gun could fire armor-piercing fin-stabilized discarding sabot, high-explosive anti-tank, and high-explosive squash-head rounds. The standard ammunition load was increased to 38 rounds. Type 59-IIs were fitted a laser range finder and automatic fire control system and used a hydraulic power steering unit . The improved Type 59-Is and Type 59-IIs could also be found with rubber track shoes, improving the tanks on-road driving capabilities.

    Type 59-IIA (59-2A) medium tank
By the end of 1984, the China First Tractor Factory and other production facilities began to develop a further upgrade to the Type 59-II, subsequently designated the Type 59-IIA. A prototype was completed by October 1985, and featured an improved 105mm Type 83 gun, derived from the British L7, with a thermal sleeve, a new light spot fire control system with a 2-axis stabilizer, composite armor. The automatic fire suppression system and automatic fire extinguishing devices were improved so that they could be used while generating smoke or firing the onboard smoke grenade launchers, using hydraulic power control devices, or conducting maintenance work.
