Pakistan approves Hindu Marriage Bill after decades of inaction

Nothing much. In India there is a clear cut Marriage Act under which anybody can register their marriage - regardless of religion.

Pakistan does not have this.

Pakistani Hindus were till now running from pillar to post to get their marriages registered. Hopefully the Pakistani Parliament will not allow Islamic parties to stop this law from getting passed.

First try to understand the topic before acting like expert of Pakistan, Pakistani Hindus were not running from pillar to post to register their marriages but to get it register under act which is specially for Hindus. You are free to google to find out that many Sikhs in India also have demands for special marriage act for Sikhism.

If a Hindu or Christian wishes to marry a Muslim, simply convert.
How is this oppressing?
Oppression is not letting them marry. But they can marry, simply convert.
conversion should not be for sake of marriage either
it should be for genuine change in heart after studying and knowing Islam ..hate those who try to convert others so that they could marry with them..very selfish act as intention matter alot when you go through this conversion process

Yes, only the non-Muslim has to convert, not the Muslim, in order for the marriage to be legal. I thought non-Muslims and Muslims were suppose to be equal citizens in Pakistan?

Islam permits a Muslim to marry another believer only. A Muslim woman, in particular, is permitted to marry a Muslim man only.

Pakistan is officially an Islamic state, so Pakistani government is unlikely to endorse your view (or Indian view) about this matter.

It is not mandatory for an officially Islamic state to recognize marriage between a Muslim and a non-believer.

I guess it's called Islamic Republic of Pakistan for a reason. Muslims are supreme and non-Muslims must live in dhimmitude.

Not a good idea nor it must be encouraged, these hindus basically r burden on our economy and society and must be encouraged to move to india which is their real land.

Pakistan is for Muslims build by the Muslims and nobody would be allowed to change our lifestyle.

You are right bhai.

We have already seen the results of allowing Hindus to dominate the education sector of a former part of our country, those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat the same mistakes.

Wherever there are more Hindus in Pakistan, there are more secular nationalist and anti-Pakistan sentiments. There is a strong business Hindu community in the baloch areas of Balochistan and the balochi nationalists love them.

In 1965 and 1971 wars many Hindus from Sindh happily trotted off to India, without any pressure from Pakistan, while the Indian army forced thousands of Muslim families In Rajasthan to migrate to Sindh.

Had 1947 not happened Pakistani Hindus would have been proud Indians.

Come on indian dont even marry with people of same religion belong to different castes ..all this so called liberalism of indians is just on internet..

I did replied that our marrige is nikkah which is islamic ritual and islam dont recognise the marrige between Hindu and Muslim ..what is this special marrige act of India?

Such marrige is not valid. You people need to understand what is marrige and how its done as per Hindu or Islamic beliefs..

Then it means you are not in touch with laws of British India. Indians are free to marry anyone irrespective of caste, religion (according to law). Arranged marriages is a subcontinental phenomenon. U cant really blame religions out here.

Special marriage acts are acts in which people belonging to different religions can marry without the need to convert. They wont be registered under Hindu, Muslim Marriage acts. In short even after marriage, husband will be an hindu, wife will be an Muslim. (In this scenario. )

He has already answered it. Pakistan has scrapped any form of civil marriage right from its founding.

The typical Pakistani will complain about his perception of India "reality" when his country does not even offer anything of the same on a purely legal (theoretical) basis for its citizens.

Every small step for Pakistan in a legal direction away from this paranoia towards Hinduism (and minorities in general) is a big achievement for them....it is yesteryears news for India.

In fact India should scrap provision of Muslim law (or laws based by religion) all together and have a common law applicable for every citizen.

This mentality explains why 89.2% of the Indian Muslim electorate voted for a separate Pakistan in 1946

Our two communities and our psychologies are simply incompatible..

Yeah and the brotherhood of South Asian Islam survived the crucial test of 1971 intact right?

You live in Australia, do they have a personal muslim law? Maybe Muslims should demand their own country over there too if they don't?

I apologise for my mistake.
I mistook you for a decent human being. Someone who undertands that two humans can love each other while being comfortable in their respective(and different) religions.

This is why we have a law in India and in most other civilized countries where any two humans of any religion can get married by law.
Pakistan is an Islamic Republic. The laws are built upon those lied down in our Holy texts. This thread is not about India. So keep it out from the conversation.
And avoid personal comments. It shows signs of a poor debater and people who lack adequate linguistic skills. What I have written in my previous posts is in accordance with The Law of my land. Ever heard of "our country our rules"?.
The same applies here.

True. Comparing men/ women marriage with Gays/Lesbians seems their way of retort.

Uniform Civil Code has opposition has only one opposition. AIMPLB. They even admitted in Parliament it is directed in consititution for an UCC, they argued it should be only when all communities accept it. That's not going to happen. It's got to be forced on all citizens of India

Of course. But. That's the Law of Pakistan.
And thus, must be abided upon. No?.

Poor application of Islamic unity does not make the principle of Islamic unity false. Islamic unity is enshrined in our religious texts and many Bengali Muslims who were more religious and practising Muslims sided with Pakistan in 1971. Even today Pakistan has a massive Bengali diaspora in Karachi, many of whom are loyal citizens of Pakistan.

Just look at how Bangladeshi teams cheer for Pakistan in Indo-Pak matches.

Meanwhile Bengalis refused to reunite with Hindu West Bengal and India. Again trashing the concept of India's unity.

Diverse India ceased to exist in 1947. You lost a quarter of your territory and 2/3 of South Asia's Muslim population. And even your own Hindu co-religionists on this forum admit that the remaining Indian Sunnni Muslims are mostly not loyal to India.

Equal citizens in the eyes of the law. However, if a Muslim man and a Non-Muslim woman of an Abrahamic religion wish to marry, I believe conversion is not necessary.

The only news these days regarding Bangladesh and Pakistan is about how someone is kicking out or harrassing the others diplomats....or snapping of some ties. You really think the few Bengali supporters of Pakistan cricket team mean something (they really are not that many at all especially now that Bangladesh team has improved).

70% of Bangladeshis have favourable views of India....we dont need them to support us on absolutely everything or be part of India.....just enough cooperation and friendship to get things done for the greater good.

Most Indian muslims are loyal to India, Afterall their ancestors chose to stay in India when given the option of Pakistan.

I don't know where you get that idea that they aren't from. Why don't you do a poll open to even just Indian members here asking that question instead of distorting the opinions of a few?
