Pakistan And India-Water Disputes-News And Updates

Wrong.

India could divert water of Ravi, Sutlej, and Beas into Indira Gandhi canal which irrigates Rajasthan where all of water of these rivers would be absorbed by desert, or floe further into Rann of Kutch.

Chenab could be diverted easily by digging a canal. It is only Jhelum which would need massive engineering project for diversion. Indus could not be diverted.

you have full control over the bold 3 rivers as per IWT. No issues here.

For the other 3 you would have to give us our share. No choice for you.

How about ALL OF THE ABOVE ? :azn:

Thats the point of the Dams stupid, Cannot block IW without having the infrastructure to block it. Other wise J&K will get flooded. Hence the 3 dams... Adding canals to the dams and linking it to other rivers will be the future course of action

Do whatever drama you want to. you would have to give Pakistan's share. Other than that canal or dam. Nobody gives a damn.

That is highly questionable, no matter how much you want to lighten this, this is a step the Pak Establishment will definitely respond to. Also depends on the amount of water which flows into Pakistan, right now even if 5 - 10 % reduction in flow of water due to the Dams this will effect Pakistan negatively during harvest season.

Nothing would happen as far as you would follow IWT. Other than that you can do all the drama lie blood and water cannot flow together.

Cool story. .......... now how about a bucket to store some water ?

.
Think.. can water be stopped ? It cannot unless there is adequate storage . The fastest dams will take 4-5 years.

The underlying idea is to highlight the fact the IWT was always loaded towards Pak, India did not disturb it even during war.

Pak by its actions is seeking for the IWT to be renegotiated.

May be I am wrong but I see it like India's efforts to put as much pressure on Pakistan as it can so that decision makers in Pakistan make a mistake. I hope they don't.

This is called passive aggression and unwanted provocation...Pakistan knows it has no option of limited war...either its not going to war..or its going to be all our strike....dont push us in the corner...Pakistan for years has anticipated Indian water terrorism and did extensive case study on this.....it is also the black face of modi being exposed who talked one day of eradicating poverty and unemployment and the next day they are funding terrorism against CPEC and disturbing Pakistan's water security...chutya !

All if this is a ploy to push Pakistan into defensive and take the aggressor role by first strike...Pakistan should stand cool and watch...any Indian aggression be it military or water...will be met with pressure from international community....because Pakistan as a downstream nation has final say in water matters...

Maybe the whole point is to corner you enough so that you make a mistake. But i don't know if this is part of any larger plan...

Rubbish. I am an Indian and I will certainly support any move that will deprive a common pakistani of water :disagree:

The move is to stop any water from Beas, Ravi and Sutlej from flowing into pakistan. And that is only Step 1.

Step 2 will be decided later based on pakistani 'reaction'.

You are free to do. After all this is democracy. But I guess depriving water is sadism.

.
No Indian will support anything that will deprive a common Pakistani of water. There is no question of India withdrawing from Indus treaty. What Modi, I guess is saying, is that he will explore the possibility of India maximizing its share under the Indus treaty.

That's what I got from it as well. What he is saying is that India will fully utilize the water under India's share in the IWT. That's why he is using the word legally which means that they will explore the options of how well they could use the benefits they were allotted in the IWT. Right now India's share flows as well so basically they will try to make sure they utilize their waters to the max.

As long as the treaty remains intact, India cannot touch the waters and benefits that are allotted to pakistan in accordance with this treaty and abrogation of the treaty is nonsensical voice of sensationalist people and analyst. You can't abrogate a treaty you willfully signed with another nation for all times. It would create a huge mess especially in the international arena.

Well as for the rest let's see.

The onus is on us to utilize the waters we have and use them to the max for the benefit of the people. Can't allow water wastage.
