Pakistan And India-Water Disputes-News And Updates

LOL. Since when is Scrapping the treaty become equivalent to stopping the water.

Scrapping the treaty is reneging on our international commitment. We are free to bring our genuine concerns with the treaty to be renegotiated. Nevertheless making unilateral decisions on moving from the 80-20 split to deny the due right of water to Pakistani population is unfair.
I have been amply clear that I am not recommending that we do this at the cost of the nation or the people.

I fail to see the different between the 'pakistani state' and the 'pakistani people', so these people live in mars ? The people ARE the state.

There is an obvious difference. The average joe in Pakistan wants to enjoy a peaceful existence like their Indian counterparts. I do not take my cues from PDF or the extremist crop in Pakistan. The average Pakistani has done nothing wrong to India. It is the policy of the state, govt. and army that has caused India harm and I'm not going to hold the entire Pakistani population responsible for the actions of their political and military elite.
Or are you suggesting that every Indian civilian has a say in crafting the policies of our government and should be held responsible for it?

.
Problem once you start , you never know where it will end, how it will end, maybe there will be no need of IWT after that:devil:

Sach of shit like you will be one more pollutant in the waters of ganga, rest assured that's how it will end

Who elects the leaders of Pakistani state? Whose support gave military enough support that it thought it can do coups after coups? Its the people of the state.

Likewise its same for India. We give them power to formulate our policies. They release their manifesto telling they will do this and that. Its our people who elect them. After election, they have some inside information which we do not, and expect the govt to take good foreign policy decision on our behalf. If SP, BSP and RJD is ruining UP and Bihar, its the people who are to blame for electing such politicians. And they suffer.

12 pages of stupidity from the hindutva brigade

The water is for the indus its as simple as that

You dont have the balls to attack Pakistan, but Pakistan will respond with full right of international law behind us if the tributaries of a major world river system are interfered with

.
You're talking like "We should give a child more lollipop as we'll have more leverage on them" while we're discussing "to take away lollipop from the child to give some punishment".What is the use of leverage if we never exercise them?

1. Having diplomatic relationship is NOT a lollipop, it represents an opportunity to get our foot in the pakistani door.

2. You asking "What is the use of leverage if we never exercise them" is the same as asking "what use is money if we do not SPEND them" ........... does this mean you have Zero Money in your bank account ?

Money exist in the bank so that ONE day when we need them, we can use it. Same with leverage.

The question shouldn't be if but when .The answer isn't - it's retaliation for Pakistan's state policy of encouraging cross border terror but because present needs outweigh past settlements .of course , we must couch it with offers of re negotiating a fair deal .of course , Pakistan will dismiss it .if they aren't satisfied with 80% , they certainly won't be satisfied with less.

for while Kashmir is what they covet, they must live & earn their livelihood in Punjab.Aside from the fact that Pakistan's ineveitable response (& avarice) will expose them to the poor Kashmiri.

The present response of the GoI is sheer genius. They are laying their cards one at a time on the table, preparing the world for what tomorrow holds in the latest saga of Indo Pak ties .If you've observed a pattern in the way Pakistan conducts it's policy of state terror , I'd wager everything on the next big strike ( a la 26/11 , 2006 Mumbai Train Bombs , 1993 serial blasts ,2001 Kashmir state assembly blast , 2002 Parliament attack case ,etc ) coming within a couple of years .It's long overdue. That's when the treaty should / will be abrogated. That needn't automatically translate into changed ground realities ( diversion of water ). Though that would happen gradually .In due course.slowly.

The average German wasn't involved in implementing "the final solution ".But the average German also didn't do anything to prevent it.hence the term - "the good German"

First of all you need to understand NOTHING in this world is For Ever. EVERY treaty has an expiry date and IWT is due to die any moment now.

I am not saying its "Fair", I WANT it to be UNFAIR :cheesy: ...... what part of that do you not understand ?

Do you think sending Terrorists is "fair" ? You think War Is FAIR ? I expect this kind of talk from a 8 year old child.

In case you haven't noticed , India is ALREADY paying a Cost. Its about time pakistan starts paying up.

Pritviraj Chauhan had the Arrogance to be "Fair" in war ............. and guess where it got him.

I don't give a $hit about the average joe in pakistan. That is not my concern, nor should it be your concern.

I do not care IF the average pakistani has done something wrong or is a innocent rabbit. Indians have no business sitting on judgement on them and passing foolish judgement.

India and Indians have NO i.e ZERO responsibility for the people of pakistan. That is the concern of THEIR govt. The Indus water treaty is not signed with the 'people of pakistan', its signed with the GOVT. of pakistan who REPRESENT the people.

BTW EVERY Indian IS responsible for the actions of the govt. That is the whole point of Democracy.

Nope. IWT is actually a VERY Fair treaty. Which is why India had never touched it.

The ONLY reason to tear it up is to have leverage over pakistan.

You dont have the courage to declare war, why argue over a topic when the reality is known

What is the point of 'declaring' a war ? :cheesy: .......... that is just stupid. It is better if we just attack you and win it.

Indus water treaty is going to die any day now. Enjoy you water till then.

We won't.but you will.once the waters in the Indus reduce to a trickle. After all , among the 1 million reasons Pakistan would cite to use its TNW or SNW , the 1 million & one reason is curtailing / stopping the supply of water .

.
Stopping the water supply, how? The Indus originates in China. Oh by the way, it's Chinese Tibet which also feeds many Indian rivers. The reason I'm mentioning all this is because if India plays water wars, then the gloves will really come off.
Kudos to the Indian posters who said the idea was stupid, it is. Water wars, good luck with that, maybe the posters in favour can find new sources when the proverbial mess hits the fan in terms of retaliation.

We will enjoy the water forever, it is the water of a major world river system

What your proposing is akin to stopping the nile or amazon

The river's in indian occupied kashmir are tributaries

When you try messing with a major river system it is a act of war stupid and the weight of international law will be behind Pakistan and Pakistan unlike indian's is not darpok and will respond

Yes we will respond and harshly, hitting each and every illegal structure built to mess with the river system

True, which is why tearing up the treaty will only be a good start.

The real fun starts AFTER we tear up the treaty and make kashmir addicted to that water and make them realise the power they hold over you. And do you know what power does ? Power corrupts.

Don't you think its time India "Empowered" Kashmirs ? :D

There is NO International law that says there has to be a water treaty between Nations

In fact we then use this to remind china to sign a water treaty with Bangladesh.
