Yes, this explanation makes much more sense. Still, President Trump should have congratulated IK on his election regardless of the state relations between the two countries.

Trump’s got an ego problem and he’s taken a very strong public position against Pakistan. Even a congratulatory message to IK might be seen as a weakening of his self imposed image of ‘tough on Pakistan’. Plus I’m sure he’s been briefed by his handlers on IK’s views on the US-Pak relationship. I think this ego problem started when Trump after winning elections called Nawaz Sharif and his government for political point scoring released the whole transcript of the call without US permission, as you usually don't do these things just say they discussed mutual issues and blah blah.
In that statement Trump said Pakistani people are one of the most intelligent and this was very widely criticized in American media. Since that day Trump has never made any direct talks to Pakistan.

Then I must say you have limited understanding of what even or equal is in international affairs. Do you know that ambassadors meet and present their credentials to the head of state? Imran Khan met with many ambassadors and would keep on doing so when desired or required. So Pompeo is higher in ranks than the US ambassador to Islamabad right?
The equality means the state acts like a sovereign state and agrees or disagrees based on its national or mutual interests instead of accepting one way crap...like do-more. And this tweet from FO spokesman clearly levels it off and clearly tells them that you can't fool the world and especially US and Pakistani nations.

Imran Khan is NOT the head of the state, President Mamnoon Hussain is. But Imran Khan did say that there will be parity in relations. Accordingly, Pompeo's call should have been directed to Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

Americans will not. Not because they do not record but no leader would talk to them in the future, no one would talk sincerely, if they are always looking over their shoulder and worried about release of Audio tapes. Pakistan would also have recorded and since they "claim" Pompeo is lying, they can release those tapes. But we know that is never going to happen as its the Pakistani's trying to cover their behind by concocting the fiction that its Pompeo who is lying. If the Pakistani's want proof, since they are the accusers, ask their own govt to release either the audio or transcript.
Pakistan will not, of course.

Trump is a business man and believes in constructive relations. However, being POTUS is not easy. None of us understand his pressures and issues. The smear campaign against him on media and internal, is damaging.

Sure, but widely different statements about his conversations with other world leaders (Trudeau for example) have also come out. This wouldn’t be the first time the Trump Administration has been accused of issuing statements about meetings with world leaders that those leaders disagree with.
